Love it! My favorite generation of Camaro. Super job!

I don't build many modern Nascars.....I prefer short track racers, plus I don't have the patience for all the plumbing, lol....but I DO kinda like Tony Stewart. This is his 1999 Home Depot Rookie Of The year car, built about 8 years ago. Revell kit with Slixx decals. Plumbing, seat belts, and hood pins are Detail Master. I should have used 2 decals sheets, because the stripes bleed through the numbers, but oh well.

One of the best looking cars from that era. Nice job.

Very nice! You pulled it off quite well.

I don't think a "tribute" has to necessarily be an exact replica of something....it just has to be "inspired" by something. Cool build, I like it, but it looks kinda odd without the wing. That color combo works quite well.....however, this should probably be in the "Under Glass" section since it's not actually a Nascar race car.

Lookin' for a '51 or '52 Ford F1 grille
roadhawg replied to bobss396's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Ken Kitchen has the grille and dash. I got these awhile back. Nice pieces, but you're on your own with the grill opening and hood. http://public.fotki.com/KenK/kitchen_table_resin_kits/ford_grille_convers/5152_grille_and_dash.html -
Is there a model available of a Whelen Modified?
roadhawg replied to Terry Sumner's topic in WIP: NASCAR
That's the same guy I was talking about. His name is Tom, and he knows almost everything about those cars. He did a tutorial somewhere on building one, or maybe it was a W.I.P......using the Revell ASA chassis as a starting point. -
Thanks again, everybody. I wasn't even going to post it, but Lee (Midnightprowler) talked me into it. Trust me, though, the pictures are very kind to it! Canton is north of Atlanta, but I didn't move here until a few years ago. We grew up and cruised in Athens, where my dad ran a garage/service station. 96 Rock was WKLS in Atlanta, and EVERYBODY had a 96 Rock tag on their car, lol.

Thanks for the kind comments, it makes me feel better about it. I just KNEW this one would end up in the parts box. And yes, my sister LOVES it. She actually wants to try to find the real one. So far, we've determined it was last registered in 2007, and was still here in Georgia. We'll see......

No. Theres a guy on Freds forum, "Tom In GA" or something like that, that builds them using the Revell ASA chassis. Seems like he did a tutorial somewhere on building one. Awesome cars for sure! -
Beautiful build! I'm a big fan of this generation Nova...the last 1:1 I built was a '66. Yours is VERY nice! Try Scale Finishes, if it's not listed send him and email and he'll mix it for you.

Thats cool, I like it. I can actually smell the overly-rich exhaust fumes, lol!

suggestions anyone...
roadhawg replied to outlaw035's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Use glass. If you have an Ace Hardware nearby, they'll cut it to any size for free. From the looks of that, you're probably looking at maybe $2-$3 per shelf....won't get much cheaper or easier than that. -
Thanks again, everyone! In 1967 it was. I think it might have been the same or very close to Lemonwood Yellow that was used in 1965. Sure Lee, here you go: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=27431 I've used masking tape in the past, but the spray method is easier and IMHO looks better.

Thanks so much, guys! There's plenty of flaws, I think in this case the pictures hide them!
-
Thats great, and good story to go with it! Don't see too many 'Vairs.

Thanks, guys!!! Lol...you know it!

Let me start by saying that this is certainly not one of my better builds...I've been working on this off and on for about 2 years now, not actual work, but getting frustrated and just putting it away for awhile. It's had the body replaced once because I broke the A pillars, then the second one was painted and stripped twice, nothing in the kit fit without modification...it was just a mess! Even now, looking at the pictures, I see things I didn't do right. It's certainly not my best effort, but I'm finally calling it DONE! This is a model of a car my sister had back in 1975...a 1967 Camaro SS350 with a factory 4 speed....and before you ask, yes, she deeply regrets getting rid of it, lol. It's the AMT kit (I wish Revell would give us an all new tool '67-'68). I added a black vinyl top using the "spray adhesive" technique. I used the kit engine with added bits and pieces from the parts box. The kit seats aren't even close to being right, so I used front seats from a Revell '69 Camaro with the headrests removed, then rescribed the upholstery pattern both front and rear...what a pain. The wheels are from an AMT '69 Chevelle...I know they're not factory correct, but thats what she had on it. She also had Road Hugger tires (our dad was a dealer), so I made the the tire decals. Correct SS Hood is from Time Machine resins and grill is from Modelhaus. Paint is GM Butternut Yellow from Scalefinishes, and striping decals are from Keith Marks. I'm glad this one is finally finished. Not my best, not even close, but as far as my sister is concerned it's the best model she's ever seen!

Nice!!! Love the door panels and floor.

You should build more race cars, Lee. That looks great! Looks like you nailed the colors. I like the added plumbing too! Yes sir, you need to build more race cars!

Looking forward to more. Can't wait to see those. Are they going to be a one-off type thing, or will he have them available for sale?
