  1. Cool project! I'm interested in seeing how you turn that Peterbilt into a Freightliner.
  2. The best way to contact him is either through Ebay (He goes by "member 3664890") or if you have Facebook, find him there.
  3. I'm a trucker.....have been for the best part of 35 years. When I was first starting out, I was somewhere near Greeneville Tennessee, and I missed my turn. In my infinite greenhorn wisdom, I decided a u-turn was in order. It worked well, except for the fact that I didn't have room for a u-turn. I had the whole road blocked while I was inching up, backing up, inching up again, grinding gears, trying to get it all gathered back up. A little old gray haired lady in a 77 or so Chevy Impala was waiting for me to get out of the way. Finally, after about 10 minutes, she rolled her window down and shouted "Get out of the way, you ____ _____ road hog!!!" Anyway...I never forgot that, and when I first started getting online, I wanted to use the screen name "road hog", but it was already taken, so I just changed the spelling. Avatar is constantly changing, but I try to keep it.......smooooth, like Keith Stone.
  4. As far as years, if you mean from the factory, mid 60s was the last multiple carbs, and 72-73 were the last high rise intakes. As always, I might be wrong.
  5. 2 things......first, fuel injection is the standard now, and second, emissions. They were cool though.
  6. I've been using http://www.scalefinishes.com/ lately for factory colors. Great service, and shipping is free. And all this talk about Le Mans and Le Mo and Lemons reminded me of the 24 hours of Lemons..... http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/
  7. This actually turned out to be one of the best builds of a Polar Lights kit I've ever seen. Something to be proud of. Big thumbs up!
  8. Looks great! You really did justice to this one. Interior shot looks almost like the real thing!
  9. Those DO look good, and according to the description thay sound easy to assemble. I'm going to order a few sets and give them a try. Thanks!
  10. The ones you ordered are printed on a fabric-ky type paper, so don't be expecting metal parts. They look ok in a pinch, except.....well, they have all the belts neatly buckled together in the center. That ain't real. I've never see a real driver get out of his car, reach back in and neatly buckle the seatbelts back together, and walk away. I guess you could cut them apart, but........ The Pro-Tech seat belt kit Dave mentioned is indeed nice, and easy to assemble, but it is the late model cam-lock type buckle. For guys like me that like 70's short track cars, we need a lever type buckle....so Detail Master is pretty much it. Hey Charlie, from Pro-Tech....how about it? A seat belt set with a lever lock? I'd buy a few.
  11. Lol....looks like they drove that thing through Pep Boys with a magnet. All thats missing are the 10-point buck decals on the rear window.
  12. I will agree with that statement.....custom paint schemes just don't seem to flow with the lines of a C-3 Vette....or ANY Corvette, for that matter. That being said, I've always been intrigued by the special gold and black Corvettes of the Apollo 12 astronauts.....to me, there's just something really cool about those.
  13. I am very impressed with how you corrected the front end on the Talladega, you got it perfect. This make me want to get started on the one I've been putting off. The Torino might look better if the rear was a tad lower, the Talladega looks great as is. And the chrome looks MUCH better in these pictures, lol!
  14. I think one from a Monogram Nascar Monte Carlo Aerocoupe (like an old #3 Goodwrench car) should be close enough. And here is a little something to help you with the details..... http://public.fotki.com/mrchevyblack/model_reference_/stock_car_sportsman/11_cale_yarborough/
  15. Now here is something I could easily be wrong about, but I seem to remember those old Monroe racing shocks as being yellow.
  16. Terry, do you spray that stuff on or brush it? I've got some but never used it. And is it ok over Alps printed decals?
  17. Pipes look great! I don't remember the Talladega having that much chrome around the windows, but maybe it's the picture like you said.
  18. Interesting, but I was mislead by the title "Cool VW Bus"......I thought they were ALL cool.
  19. And by the way....the chassis splice looks nice. Wheelbase should scale out to 112" if that helps.
  20. I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with SOME of that. Up until '74, Nascar had a rule that the car had to have the same basic suspension as it's stock counterpart. Mopars came with Torsion bar/leaf springs, so thats what they had to run. GM came with trailing arm/coils, so thats what THEY had to run. Fords ran leafs up until '72. I know when Chevy came back in '71, THAT Monte Carlo was indeed coils, as were all of Bobby Allison's Monte Carlos/Chevelles. In '74, the rules allowed the Banjo Matthews "plate" type chassis, which had coils with truck trailing arms, but gave the Mopar guys the choice of running leafs if they wanted to by saying you could run the Banjo 4 coils OR the Banjo chassis with "same as stock" suspension. So in other words, feel better....This particular car ran a Banjo surface plate chassis......you did right in changing to coils with truck trailing arms.
  21. At last years Southern NNL, Revell had a display, including a list where we could write down a suggestion or two for them......a new tool '67/'68 Camaro was one of the things I suggested. And since I've been building a model of a car my sister had using the old kit, they'll probably announce it as soon as I finish.
  22. Harbor freight stuff is ok, I guess. The problem I have with it is, well, its nothing more than a Chinese flea market. Everything in there came from some oriental country....China, Taiwan, Korea, Zuwi-Zuwi....all of it. I know it's cheap, but its probably all made out of lead and mercury. Never tried their airbrushes, but their tools just "feel" like junk...and their socket sets ARE.
  23. Model Roundup has it listed for April.
  24. Wow.....all thats missing now is something about the Dukes Of Hazzard. Anyway, thanks for setting me straight on not only the proper pronounciation of Tamiya (tah-me-a), but a whole lot of other things too....like Willis and Bruick. I once owned a Chevrolet Citation that I pronounced "sit-u-a-shun", because thats what it was. Oh, I know this one!!! In Georgia, "Sushi" is pronounced "bait"........
  25. What is the correct way to pronounce "Tamiya"? Back in the 80s, I was involved in R/C racing, and everyone pronounced it ta-MY-ya, so thats what I've always said. In recent years, however, Ive heard a lot of people saying ta-MEE-ya. Very recently, one guy I know will correct anyone that pronounces it anything other than TAM-me-ya. How do YOU pronounce it, and which is correct? Lord knows I wouldn't want to say it wrong....
