  1. Me too! It's great to see you building again. I ALWAYS learn something from you.
  2. Hi, Joseph! If your cars turn out half as nice as the products you sell, they'll be knockouts for sure! Can't wait to see what you do. Oh, and Harry's right.....nice hat.

  4. Thats what I was gonna say. If thats "unfinished", maybe I should "unfinish" some of mine!
  5. Wow is all I can say. Thats nice!
  6. Very, very nice looking model!
  7. Unless you are trying to model an actual car and need specific decals, your best bet would be to use leftover/unused decals from Nascar kits.
  8. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!! Did I mention that this is beautiful? Man o man. And that stance is perfect!

    Citation

Did you buy it built, or did you build it? Either way, it looks good! I had a Citation once....one of my buddies kept refering to it as a Chevrolet "Situation".
  10. Looks great to me!! The open wheels are a nice touch. Chevy engines are whatever color the owners paint them. I saw a 396 in a junky ol' '69 Chevelle painted bright yellow.
  11. Looks great, Lee! I've built a couple of those kits, but never stock like that....I never realized it would look that good stock.
  12. How difficult was it to fit the resin body to the Starliner chassis? This really makes me want on of these for my collection.
  13. Beautiful replica of a beautiful drag legend! The only fault I can find, and it's not YOUR fault, is the decals appear to be incomplete.....it should have "BAM SAM" on the trunk. Everything else is perfect. The stance, the colors....perfect! Great job!
  14. Totally awesome! I got two of them at the local Wal Mart....less than 10 bucks each too.
  15. Thanks again, everybody! I do appreciate the kind words, and I'm glad y'all like it. Jack, Athens Speedway was off the Atlanta Highway on Jimmie Daniels Rd, behind where Sams Club is now. It ran from the late 50's into the early 90's, when Sams Club purchased the property. It was THE place to be on Saturday nights in the 70's. Most of the track and stands remained intact until just a few years ago, but I believe it's all gone now. Man, I miss that place. http://georgiaracinghistory.com/athens-speedway/
  16. Thanks y'all! Huh. I didn't realize he was still around here, I haven't seen him post anything in awhile. Oh, well...tell him thanks!
  17. As I've mentioned before, I grew up in an automotive environment. My dad ran an auto service business and I was introduced to dirt track racing early on. When I turned 16, I built my own car and started racing at the local track, Athens (GA) Speedway. I ran in the Hobby division, but the fastest division was the Late Models. Back in the 70's, the king of Athens Speedway in the Late Model class was Ray Brooks, from Jefferson GA. When his #19 Chevy II showed up, the question became who was going to finish second that night. Ray and his half-brother Linder Smith ran a local transmission repair shop, and eventually my dad started subbing out transmission repairs to them. I got to know them, and we became good friends. I ended up hanging out at their shop more than ours! When I went into the sign business in the 80's, Ray gave me a spot in their shop to work out of...free, no rent. Thats the kind of guy he was. Ray continued to race well into the 90s, making the move to asphalt, but ended up having to retire because of health issues. This is a model of the Chevy II he had so much success with. The body is from the Rat Packer kit, with the wheelwells relocated back to the stock position. Wheels/tires are from Fred's Resin. Interior is pretty much sheet styrene with a Detail Master steering wheel and seat belt kit. Paint is plain ol' Testors gold and black, and no its not super glossy...the real car was painted in a transmission shop on a lift. Lol. The decals are self-designed. The model is built curbside, so there is no engine details. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out, and I may end up giving it to Mr, Brooks next year at the annual Athens Speedway Reunion.
  18. And "something" would be correct. 1/16"-1/8" styrene rod would be a better choice.
  19. KRIS MORGAN has a nice Turbo 400 with seperate pan, if all you want is a transmission.
  20. If I'm not mistaken, Boyd's High Gloss Clear is an enamel, in which case the white areas of your decals will turn yellow over time.
  21. Only ones I know of are THESE. At 10 bucks for 4 tires, they seem kinda pricey.
  22. I don't know why I didn't think of this first, but hey, it's Batman......those chutes are made from a jet-exhaust resistant material.
  23. Any updates on this? Or has it already gone "under glass" and I missed it?
  24. That really turned out nice! I guess I'll have to break down and get one of those. Maybe they were thinking that both the chutes and the jets wouldn't be used at the same time? :o
