  1. Great stuff! If I wasn't working, I'd be in this too! Looks like fun!
  2. Don't think so, but I could be wrong. Keep posting yours though!
  3. They all have links on Gary Kulchock's Fotki.
  4. Wish I could join, but unfortunetely, once again, I'm working. Good luck, all!
  5. Ken Kitchen makes it. Kitchen Table Resins.
  6. Nascar hasn't been real since they started using vinyl for lettering. Anything a 19 year old rookie can do just as good as a seasoned veteran ain't real.
  7. I know you said you were building the Polar Lights kit OOB, but it bears mentioning that the body is kinda goofy....the front fenders slant uphill. To make it look right, you'll need to "bend" them back down. I was beginning on that same kit, and somehow lost the body. Looking forward to watching your build.
  8. From my own clubs website............. http://www.mountainmodelers.org/2009/11/creating-realistic-springs/
  9. Probably the best build of this kit I've ever seen. I salute you, sir!
  10. Bandit Resins also offers a '61 Starliner body that is just as nice as the Modelhaus body, but both the Bandit and Modelhaus bodies have "Sunliner" scrips molded in instead of "Starliner". Missing Link has a photoetch scrip set to fix that.
  11. That looks great! I been working on a dirt modified myself, using this same chassis as a base. This really motivates me to finish it up! Might have to check out those coilovers you mention.
  12. You are better than you give yourself credit for.....you got the "droop" of the wires correct. Looks great! One of my pet-peeves are those plug wires that defy gravity, lol. And you are correct about the brakes....this car would have drums. Disc brakes didn't show up until the 70's....72 or 73? I think the Penske Matador was the first.
  13. This forum has BILLIONS of viewers. Whoever is going to judge the model is probably reading this as we speak.
  14. Think. Like you said, modifying the part would be open to interpretation. it MIGHT be legal, it might NOT, depending on the judge. Painting the part with a couple of coats of a really thick paint, however, would be completely legal.
  15. The 331 was pretty much the same as a 390, the same as a 283 Chevy is the same as a 350. They also had a 365 C.I. version. The Revell parts pack 354 is the same engine, I always wondered why they called it a 354. Bored out 331, I suppose. Very cool engine for a period rod or custom.
  16. Those bumperettes really do look good on that car........... It's possible that I have another pan and air cleaner, but I won't be home for another week.....if you haven't found them by then, I'll be glad to look. The engine is supposed to be a 50's era 331, I believe. They were pretty popular with hot rodders back then.

  18. Propel works in a pinch, but like was mentioned, for the price of just a few cans you can get a compressor. 13 oz SHOULD be enough for a 1/25 kit.....but what if its not? A compressor won't run out.
  19. The first two are models of cars I actually owned. The '78 was one of my favorite cars ever. It had a warmed up 400 with a 4 speed. Built from the Revell kit........ The '76 was stock, with a 400/automatic, built from the AMT kit with a resin nose from an "unreliable" source.......... The '74 SD455 I didn't own, but wish I did. Built from the Monogram '70 kit...... I LUV dem Trans Ams!
  20. This one has fought me every step of the way. It refuses to let me finish it, no matter how hard I try. It is cursed, I tell you....I'm about ready to give up.
  21. Well, that I would not know but it's possible. A lot of racers painted everything black because it was supposed to dissipate heat better. Others just left everything unpainted. If you choose THAT route, you can get cast iron spray paint at any auto parts store.
  22. I wouldn't doubt that at all. I saw some of Elliott's blocks back around '83- '84, and they were Ford blue. I don't have a lot of knowledge about Cup cars, but I WAS involved in dirt and asphalt short track at the time, and my best guesstimation is the block would have been black or bare cast iron, maybe Chevy orange. The heads, probably bare cast iron. The oil pan, probably black, possibly bare steel. I would bet that if you went with any combination of that, no one would ever argue with you. They definitely were not aluminum, though. Not in the 70's. Only the intake was aluminum at that time.
  23. As would a nice set of Corvette rallys.........
  24. And I did an AMT '61 Starliner the OTHER way, lol.....sawed off the door panels. Whichever way you choose, plan your cuts wisely and you should be ok.
