  1. I "get it" Tom. In my stash there are probably 50 I wont ever build. Using ebay prices, thats at least a cool $500 in my pocket. Then like you, I start to think. my "ebay pile" gets reduced to less that a half dozen.
  2. That came out pretty darn nice. Did you foil the gold Chevrolet script?
  3. Thats very nice Roger!
  4. Simply outstanding! I've seen a lot of these kits customized, but never like this. Great creativity, I dig it!
  5. Outstanding! Pretty nice how you changed up the Matranga Merc so much with just a few mods. And that color....gorgeous!
  6. I'm gathering for the afterlife. The way I figure it, if I finish one every other month, I'm still good for about 20 years "up yonder"
  7. As Curtis pointed out, lacquer hastens drying time. I have only used Testor's enamels so far, but they respond well to the lacquer thinner and a higher pressure than acrylics. I have also found they gloss out very well using this method. The choking sound you describe could be the paint is still too thick or the pressure too low, or a combo of both. Practice on spoons or an old body, and dont be concerned about over thinning the paint. It will be obvious when you've gone too far.
  8. My only domestic compact, an old survivor from ebay. Its so funky I'm leaving it as it is.
  9. Thats great. The color fits it perfectly as do the seats and the textured shimmer on the tub. Darryl's redlines are a great touch. Yours is the first reissue I've seen with the sand tires. Very nice work, I dig it!
  10. Dang, a swoopy wagon. Love it!
  11. So much untouched subject matter. Not to be a Debbie Downer, but other than us old school guys there might not be a lot of interest. Would be nice if Revell tooled up some pontiacs or oldsmobiles, and they could include their Donk-ey parts as well as stock and perhaps get a wider following. Just be sure to add the Skittles and Newport decals!
  12. 1200 would be OK to knock off the really bad spots, but I would finish with as high a grit as you can find, maybe 4000. You didnt say what brand of enamel, but make sure it has cured thoroughly. If it still smells, its not cured. I airbrush enamel at between 20-25 lbs, thinned 1 part paint to 2 parts lacquer thinner. Good luck!
  13. Replicas and miniatures has very nice interior door handles. I dont know about exterior though.
  14. Big Donkey Resin sells some neat stuff. I have a set of his wheels and tires, and they are quite nice! http://www.bigdonkeyresin.com/index.html
  15. Looking good, and very vintage Greg! Um, please swap the wheels front to back. The ones with the nipples in the center are supposed to represent dust caps and go on the front. I dont really mind that one piece chassis. I've finished 2 32's and have 3 on the bench using it. I dont pick up my models and look underneath much so it is no big deal to me. I cut away all of the offending bits on this chassis, and I am not quite sure all the work was worth it.
  16. A couple summers ago I airbrushed some lime gold that was over 20 years old. I thinned it with lacquer thinner. I dont know if that made any difference or not.
  17. Gorgeous, simply gorgeous! I love that paint. Wouldnt have thought those green wheels would work, but they add just the right amount of contrast.
  18. I love this Bill. Super traditional! That front 3/4 view is fantastic.
  19. I like it! Making those door fit flush sure changes the appearance. I'm going to have to adopt that when/and or of i build mine.
  20. Monogram Blue Beetle, 30 Woody, and as Ed said, the 58 T-Bird, the original 55 Chevy, and I have an original AMT 40 ford molded in black that with a bit of Ultra-Restore will be shinier than paint.
  21. That D&M gasser is pretty dang nice too!
  22. I'm with Brett. I want to see that Mazmanian done!
  23. I know who you're talking about!
  24. I'm on there, took a couple of days to get confirmed.
