  1. Finally some projects. The yellow 32 coupe only has a metal axle in the rear, and the primered Vicky was complete off of ebay, but suffered a fall from the shelf and is now in the project pile.
  2. Youre right on that Ed! Here are my offerings. First up, completed builds with metal axles.
  3. I googled and only found a listing based upon my pilot certificate. Then I googled images. Just want to let you all know I am NOT, read NOT the guys in all those mugshots!
  4. Welcome James. I'm in Fremont too. Whereabouts are you located?
  5. Yup, thats a great story!
  6. I think Lyle's house is the grey one. His neighbor left a barbeque on a wood deck and caused it. Heres the link to the news article. The seventh pic shows his Dodge out front. If you have face book the real skinny is there. http://www.wusa9.com/news/article/261057/158/2-Alarm-Townhouse-Fire-In-Elkridge-Md-Displaces-3-Families-Damages-A-Number-Of-Homes
  7. You've all probably seen this before, but I just had to post it again. An MPC Merc snap kit, chopped in 1983. yup, 30 years ago. The cracks you see are because it got dropped awhile back. Tube glue and testors contour putty didnt hold up all that well. Spun aluminum discs and painted whites were added a couple years ago.
  8. This AMT '58 Buick. I had been looking for one for years, but the prices were outrageous. This popped up on ebay, buy it now for $45 shipped. Absloutely pristine. The bare plastic shines, no glue spots, nothing broken. looks like the bumpers were replated and the windshield trim was hand painted silver.
  9. Well that's a unique idea Greg!
  10. Fantastic Ken. Great workmanship there, looks just like the 1:1. Why the roadster headers instead of zoomies, and it's too darn clean!
  11. Dont forget the F-2 race just before the F-1. I got all 4 races in, tho I missed some of the Indy due to a prior commitment.
  12. 1. My best friend is my ex-girlfriend. 2. My dad was a flight instructor for the Air Force in 1943. 40 years later he taught me how to fly.
  13. Great pics Greg. Sure looks like the original Sizzler was a direct copy of Al Bergler's comp. coupe.
  14. Don't forget to add the $4.99 shipping! But take a closer look. The screw heads don't match. They couldn't have all come from the same kit. Tom, you wanna trade off some of those screws?
  15. Speaking of P-J, ck out this listing. http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Metal-Chassis-SCREWS-ONLY-1965-Rambler-American-440-1-25-Promo-Parts-Vtg-Used-/350802038610?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item51ad6e4f52
  16. I've bought many times from GMS Customs. I find his prices to be reasonable. I've bought a half dozen tire combos from him that I would otherwise have to buy complete kits....sometimes of subjects I have no interest in. As for that "P-J" fellow, he has been the subject of scorn often in the forums. What blows my mind is his positive feedback.
  17. Casey's link to the Coffin Corner explains a lot. Per my most recent contact with Steve ( last year ) he wants the Tee done up "right" in styrene. Not having had the kit since the 60's i dont know of any issues in the original. Steve acknowledges that he got hosed by Revell-o-gram, and will not contact them. He wants to find someone to do the kit for him. Based upon the "ballparked" figures, it would take 10000 kits at $25 a pop to break even. Not sure if that's feasible based upon the niche market for this. This subject is sorta like the Jo Han threads, it keeps resurfacing!
  18. Just call me a debbie downer, but in the side by side comparo, the original makes the new one look like a brick.
  19. Dont know anything about that AMT kit, but there are 4 available from this guy on ebay. It's 1/24 so obviously not an AMT tool. http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMT-PORSCHE-928-1-24-Model-Car-Mountain-Kit-FS-/330827053247
  20. I like that Geo dean, got any more pics?
  21. Dang, thats outstanding! That shortened tub body fits quite well into the overall look. The color, wheels and tires, headers and carb scoop, suspension, and that cool blue tinted windshield are great. Wish your pics were larger, i'd save them to my Tee album. I dig this, John!
  22. And as for the myth that Testor's Contour Putty shrinks forever, this chop was done around 1984. Very thin coats have minimal shrinkage, if any. I still use it today to fine-tune areas where primer alone isn't enough.
  23. Perhaps this great info shall help put and end, finally, to all of those altered wheelbase, tubbed, nose-in-the-air "gassers"
  24. I know that as in all areas of life, there are pilots whose proficiency is lacking. That being said, getting a private pilot certification is a process in and of itself, not even close to a drivers license. I would expect that someone with the time and money to get certified, and the cash to purchase one of these is not the type of guy that blows his inheritance on a Ferrari, imagines himself as Michael Schumacher, and does dumb stuff.
