  1. The union kit is the same as the IMC .
  2. It sounds to me like you like to work on other stuff . Just enjoy that . No one says you have to complete anything. As long as your finding the time to exercise your creative side and having fun doing it ,it doesn't matter man , just go with it.
  3. That is gold plating , so you wouldn't be able to find chrome underneath. or I may be wrong .
  4. Thanks, now I'm stuck watching hundreds of how to make water videos . Joe I know it was your suggestion but it was the " WOW!!! " that caused me to seek it out .
  5. Man, that dude is Stuck. Nice job!
  6. John you have got to be close to modeling enlightenment. If this was in a regular car mag I wouldn't know it's not full size . Great job your work continues to inspire and impress thank you for sharing your talents with us.
  7. Only problem is this stuff adds up fast .
  8. Considering at one time Sears basically provided everything from lumber to livestock even cars via mail that they are failing now seems ironic .
  9. They have this sale every year , so plan ahead!
  10. today only go to the moebius site http://www.clubmoebius.com/default.asp use coupon code F53 and get 50% off your order
  11. Great work , I also like the unconventional approach of a team build .
  12. I wonder why they wouldn't get these back together for a reissue. I'd think they would sell better than the engine packs and then maybe they could reconsider the motorcycles.
  13. Update?
  14. That was my first truck model I received as a Christmas gift ,it never occurred to me to question how it would work . I was just happy to have a kit that was worth three times a car kit at the time which made it a big deal to me. Funny how a random picture can bring back memories .
  15. Thanks for the suggestion , I picked up "how to HOTROD Volkswagen engines" off of EBAY . I got the earlier printing with the yellow cover and just the engine pictured . That picture alone answered several questions I had , I can even see where the dipstick is .
  16. Cool project , I haven't owned or worked on any VW engines so I have no idea what the difference is between the Porsche and the VW . I always think I'd like to detail one but then I read posts from VeeDub enthusiasts and realize I don't know what 48 IDA, swing arm that ,92 mm this ,or single port even means . I've googled , purchased books even have a few magazines but can't quite see differences that I hear discussed . I'd like an accurate engine to go with the aforementioned Baja bug . Also how does the Hasegawa Kubelwagen engine compare / or be useful in a build like this ?
  17. The problem with the testors enamels is the dry time . However with the proper solvents this can be remedied . Short answer is Testors is fine when used properly with patience.
  18. A consistent level of detail throughout the entire model . If you BMF the body trim use that same BMF on the interior . If you add spark plug wires then you should add brake lines.
  19. Slightly understated . Great Job on the cab so far. This has to be my favorite transporter ever. I'll have to look for it but I think Motor Trend classics did a write up on the restoration of the truck . If you can find them for a decent price any Dave Friedman book is worth it , his pictures are amazing . I can't wait to see more progress !
  20. Looks cool . I've attempted these but can never get the headlight area to look right ,this looks right .
  21. I think using the liquid glue (not just Testors) is the best all around glue . super glue has it's place but keep it away from clear and plated plastics , it can react and ruin the finish . the old orange tube glue has it's uses also . trial and error will be the best teachers . other glues to try elmers white glue for attaching windows , five minute epoxy for those places that super glue shouldn't go , rubber cement for mock up purposes clear gloss paint for attaching photo etch scripts. theres a million adhesives and a million ways to use them .
  22. Welcome . Let's see those builds.
  23. yes I have and then years later you discover you've bought the same kit several times and still haven't built one .
  24. Excellent workmanship , I like it.
  25. That's a nice looking vette for sure . It's great that you were able to share a hobby and that you have pleasant reminders to keep your wife in your and our thoughts .
