  1. Perhaps there's not and they're just hoping the market will buy their junk because it's not costing them much effort using old molds. Demand better. Don't buy misshapen, toy-like models and maybe they'll do better and make new investments, like the Bugatti. The market should speak for itself, not Italeri for the market. Look at the Volvo. While I don't think its as bad as the 500SLC, they didn't even bother to address the truck-like tires. Seems like there was no questioning "is there any small improvements we can make to update this kit?"
  2. The problem with these reissues like the 190e and the 500SLC is that they're crude, not very accurate 30-40 yr old kits, so why does Italeri think there's any interest?
  3. ?
  4. Great job! If find the seems of the wing nicely.
  5. Nice work, Gerry!
  6. Classic Revell to me!
  7. Alpha Models does have a chronic but inconsistent problem of undersized wheels and tires or arches that are too big, though.
  8. I don't think these are all the new releases, right? Revell-Germany usually provides next year's releases on New Years. There was some discussion of this on britmodeler.
  9. Great job! A well executed conversion. I'm planning on doing this with my LaFerrari to make an Aperta.
  10. Thanks! Thanks! Revell. Available in german and US-boxed kits. Thanks! Thanks! First time doing blue/red combo and it looks great. Though I don't have a favorite! Thanks! Thanks!
  11. Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! Totally agree - love Ferraris in other colors! Thanks! Thanks! Yep! I heard the Chrysler system works well, though! Right?! Treat yourself - I think you can get them for $80k - ish now. Thanks! Thanks! Lots of 2k polishing time. Luckily the finish survived 10 years of handling!
  12. Hi all - I started these in 2011 with body prep and paint, and have now completed 2 out of 3. Light blue is Cobra Colors Azzurro California (circa 2006) with the wheels from the hard top kit. The red one is Zero Paints Rosso Fuoco with Hobby Design Wheels. The Zero paint isn't entirely accurate - it captures the essence but lacks the tri-coat effect of the real paint. It still needs its "Ferrari" decklid script. The bodies were a mess. Sink marks near character lines and in the fender vents, warped hoods, and bent A-pillars. Only aftermarket stuff is A+ Club scripts and flocking. I lowered the front suspensions. I might add seatbelts. Looks a little funny without. More pics of the dark blue one soon. It was nearly completed but then I dropped it on the floor! Luckily, damaged was limited to a small paint chip and broken suspension. It was previously broken and not repairable so I had to buy another kit and will replace the suspension part.
  13. Nice clean work and I agree with others on the color scheme!
  14. As it turns out, someone has already created exactly what I'm looking for, plus the 18 inch wheels (Bruce had 18in magnesium wheels made to replace the original 17s). https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/architecture/porsche-959-rim-canepa-18-inch-x-tamiya-1-24th-model Anyone recommend good 3d printers out there? Is Shapeways on demand service economical/good?
  15. Great color choice and your photography is spot on - really capturing the NSX nicely.
  16. Thanks! Now I just need someone to print them.
  17. Yep, for someone to make a passenger side mirror.
  18. I hoping to find someone to create a passenger mirror for the 1/24 Tamiya Porsche 959, which I think could be created by scanning the driver's mirror, mirroring it in a program, and 3d printing it. The prototype cars had a single driver's mirror (which Tamiya based its model on), but the production cars had driver's and passenger's. I'd like to build a 959 Reimagined that my second cousin, Bruce Canepa, is producing. I talked to a guy in Italy on FB who could do it and mailed him the original part, which was lost in the mail. I had to order a new part from Tamiya, so I'm hoping to find someone close to home who could do it. Here's what I'm talking about. Thanks for any information you can provide!
  19. Nah, IMHO if there's a good kit already out there, I'd rather have a manufacturer focus on another subject!
  20. Pricey, but an excellent model from what I've heard: https://uscp-ua.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=779
  21. Too bad the 993 Italieri kit didn't look like the car on the box and was more accurate. So many things wrong with the kit, including the chassis and suspension. If the Monogram Lotus Esprit gets my vote for being the worst-fitting kit ever to build, this gets my vote for being the least accurate. Lol.
  22. TamiyaBlog reports that the upcoming fall Shizuoka show (Sept. 9-12) has been cancelled, but the kit announcements will continue online. I wonder what Tamiya has in store. I hope they take advantage of the increased interest in the hobby due to the pandemic and announce a new 1/24 car kit. Shall we begin the prediction game? This thread can also serve to discuss announcements from others manufacturers as they come in.
  23. James - what was Revell's reaction to the windshield screen not being accurate? Revell (Germany) has issues that they repeat, like the terribly developed Panamera body or way back in the day packaging issues on the Ferrari California that would cause the windshield screen to be crushed. Seems that they don't process and internalize feedback or they have a short memory.
  24. Beautiful work and excellent photography. I like that you chose an atypical interior color. Looks great.
