Modelhaus, has anyone out there bought the business?
sfhess replied to GMP440's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
There is a lot of discussion about this elsewhere in the forum. -

Yes I saw that. I think I've seen about three of the "yellow tag" kits in my visits to HL. -

Just an FYI this week's HL ad says 40% off all hobby kits. -
We had a 1986 Tempo 4-door with a manual transmission. Both my wife and I knew how to drive manuals so it was not an issue. Nice car, decent performance and It could get 40 MPG on the highway. Later I had an 87 2-door sport Tempo. Nice car as well. I bought it to fix and flip, although registration was a nightmare. I sold it to a friend who drove it for several years.

That's a great quote.

How did you manage to find a 1980 Topaz?

I had a 2003 "Centennial" edition Focus 4-door. Black with a tan leather interior. 2.3 with automatic. It was a fun car to drive. Even my wife thought so. I still have the box of centennial swag Ford mailed me after I purchased the car.

My 2014 SE was white with gray and black seats. It had the Sport Appearance Package. I always thought the best color on these was Frosted Glass, which was available in 2012. I remember seeing one this color, with a tan interior, in a dealership. I replaced the Focus with a 2016 Fusion SE. Color was Guard, which is a dark green with the Dune (Tan) interior. Cloth seats were difficult to keep clean, but I didn't want a black interior.

My 14 SE would shudder intermittently. Dealer wouldn't do anything about it due to backlog of other cars with worse problems. I was always frustrated with the car's hesitancy to downshift and accelerate from low speeds, the one day it would not accelerate above 40 MPG when I needed to pass another car. It was scary sometimes. At the time my commute was about 50 miles each way, mostly on mountain roads. The handling was wonderful and it was fun to drive generally but it had to go. Happy you have had good luck with yours.

I didn't think Europe got the sedan (with a trunk/boot), just the hatch and wagon. Funny thing, when I insured my 2014 Focus SE hatchback, the insurance company listed it as a wagon. Nice car but the transmission (powershift dual clutch) was trash.

Not much room to put anything in to fill the gap. The frame around the taillight is pretty deep.
-
The trouble is that you cannot "snug up" the bumper. The taillight bezels are molded with the bumper so the bumper can't be moved up unless you cut them off. And it is difficult to put in a filler piece or add filler to the gap because part of the bumper/taillight bezel piece fills in the area behind that gap and there is little depth to the gap. I was trying to resolve this last night. Kind of disappointed at the way this all fits together.

Another MCM Editor is Onboard
sfhess replied to Dave Ambrose's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Remember also that Gregg and Golden Bell Pres, who were handling subscriptions, printing and distribution of MCM, ended their relationship. This put a lot more of the work of publishing the magazine in Gregg's lap. I am happy that Larry G and others are stepping up to help. This is what is needed for MCM to get back on track.
