Excellent jerry cans James! I'm like you, stuffs like this here is my favorite part of the building as well, and yeah, it do make for a slow build, but like you said, I enjoys it

AMT '40 Coupe - Hemi powered street & strip car! *UPDATED 5-24-09*
CB replied to Dennis Lacy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Coming along nicely Dennis! Like what you did with them exhaust manifolds. Nice work -
Don't mind me....... yeah, them am wheels on there, huh
-
Hey Matt, dat running gear am lookin' mighty fine . Mebbe if'n ya uses some of dat hex rod dat's a little bigger? Where do you get it anyhow? I was thinking of using the same thing, but haven't been able to find any yet. Wound up getting some really tiny brass hex head bolts and nuts, but the build I'm using them on (SKWIRLY) is probly 1/20 or 1/16 scale. Still lookin' forwards to seeing some wheels on this here

Hey Chris, check out this link from a couple years ago (?) here on the forum: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.p...mp;#entry100252 Lot of us saved it. Don't see anything about using epoxy to cement the chopped parts. Tons of advice and pics Good luck with the fitty5
-
Really cool project there Bruce. Man, you lucked out with the deadcast fer parts. Don't know that I'd wanna buid up one of my Dad's vehicles (that I remember him having) coz they was pretty much all Falcons Looks really good so far. Good luck with it.
-
aahhh..........so fine I'm voting you 'most improved player' B! Man, you's almost scarin' me ....... I mean, what're yer buillds gonna be like a year from now!!?? color, stance, whatcha did wit them wheels, stuffin' that engine in there---BOOM, BOOM, BOOM! You's NAILDRIVIN'!!
-
Looks like that white kit has a bit of a lower front stance. Since I got me one of the blue ones, I've been wondering what to do with it. Just worked this up on the 'puter. I've been wanting to use some of the Cragars I have, so this might be where they wind up. My Fotki is acting up this morning, guess it aint awake yet ......andyhow, I copied & pasted this pic from there (never done that before) and there's the link to the page as well. http://public.fotki.com/V866/high--mighty-...aybemy37pd.html

eh, Matt? WE knows they's there too! That's the really cool part about this here fourum-- we all gets to see the details before theys hidden away. Them drilled out seat supports look mighty fine, but that seat looks awfully comfy ........hope dat don't mean the driver gonna be spending a lot of time in it--- blown engine, slow e.t.s, etc Looks like yer having a good time with this. Looking forward to more in progress pics

I was gonna bring them 'Dzuz' fasteners up, but....... I couldn't remember if'n that's what they were called. Anyhow, yeah, that'll work. Used to know a guy from work, had a locker next to his, and he had gotten (apparently) a really good settlement on his divorce, coz he got into 'buying' and trying the exotic cars. He never had any one of them for very long as he would try them out and then trade them for another. I'm pretty sure he said he had a Ferrari (?) that had a full belly pan, but in sections, and that whenever he had to do any work to it, that was first--removing the particular section of belly pan. Might not have been the Ferrari, he did have Jags, etc. Sounded after awhile that he was tiring of all the seemingly continous maintainence the exotics required. Your future build with the removables sounds way cool (cruel )
-
Dang 3! Gonna be a shame to cover dat roll cage & frame work with that body. can't wait to see it all painted and detailed up.
-
Hey Marty, I think you are the only one who can delete this here double post. If'n ya look at the lower right on yer 'double' post in this here thread, you should see a 'delete' button. Hit it and it should be gonzo.
-
Whoa, Bernard! You's come a long way, baby!!! Pretty soon you won't even be buying kits----just sheets, tubes, rounds, quarter rounds, and angle--all in styrene! Can't wait to see that belly pan in paint and detailed--- you do remember you's gotta make dem covers 'removable', right?
-
You's really got it goin' on with your color scheme Mike! Love the black & chrome! and them red wires are like icing on da cake! Lookin' forward to mo' pix !
-
One thing I always enjoy 'bout your builds, Bernard, is dat it's kinda like stoppin in at a 1:1 shop ever now & again and seein' if'n there's any progress. I've always loved the black, white, and chrome look, which yer BP32 be sportin' right now. If'n it were me, (an I'll hafta try it) I'd leave it as is, but do some flames outa them louvres.........hmmmm,
-
Lookin' really good already Raul . I like how you gotta build it up 'right'. I'd just use the 40 Ford frame, but dats me. Gonna be cool to see you makin' it all work.
-
Nice to see yer 37 again Dave. Looks like you better hurry up and 'dirty' up them wheels, tires, and bumpers or you're gonna hafta put some shiny paint on it! That body style sure has some nice lines to it. I scored me one of these kits myself at a flea market last week, still sealed for $10! The lady who sold it to me said she goes thru her brother's stash ever once in a while and if'n she sees he gots more than one kit, she takes it to the flea market!!! I'm prayin' for her! Aint real sure what exactly I'm gonna do with mine . For now I'm just enjoying the blue glow from the body parts---kinda like a night light
-
Hey, thanks, Raul. Spent some time this monrnin' checkin' out some hot 1:1 VW 4bangers---kinda like me and the SKWIRLY dude goin' window shoppin' . Looks like we decided on a distributor with a coil....... and we seen that we was missing an oily filter and oily fillem up tube ! Dat li'l hunka plastic gonna have all kindsa tubes & wires all over the place . I aint seen any new posts from you ............what you workin' on?
-
MUCHOS DANKAS Jerry!! Excellente site-eroonie there! SKWIRLY seen them wire wheels .......but I aint ready fer them just yet. T'anks again.
-
Thanks James. I'd take my printer apart too........tempting.......but it still works mighty fine, so I'll hafta keep my eyeballs peeled fer an old one. The gears been turning in me head 'bout the belts anyhows--pretty sure I have some foam sheet I got from Michaels that I'm thinking of trying, especially fer the Vbelt fer the gernerator. Might be too thick fer the blower belt, but mebbe if'n I cuts cogs in it, hmmmmm

Howdy dudes .......good day at the bench fabbin' up more parts fer the SLWKIRL's 4banger Getting a little intense here with all the pulleys fer the blower & the generator (don't really know if'n a generator is actually needed, but SKWIRLY wanted one) Looked thru a couple parts boxes and used two outer front wheel/tire halves from the Lindy 25T for fabbin' up the big generator pulley, and wacked out another one of dem little ol' hex nuts to secures it on the shaft. Bit of a tight fit, but did manage to squeeze dat big ol' generator in between the block and them tubers. Whiles them generator parts weres setting up, turned me tensions to lining up the pulley fer the blower, and started fabbin' another pulley up. Since dat pulley gonna be waaaaay out there, had to reinforce the shaft housing, so wacked out some gussets and welded 'em up. Cleaned up the welds a bits and got to finishin' fabbin' the blower pulley. Got pulley on the shaft, but it aint secured, so .......... naturlly, fabbed up another nut fer the SKWIRL. And thar she be, more like a bolt......... whatever, it's a hex headed pulley holder-on-er and it works fer me & the SKWILRY dude. Oakley doakeley! We's ready fer some bolts!! Comin' alongs nicely. All them bolts installed with some superduper lockem up stuff, and then torqued to .015 footpounds Mebbe I can finally starts painting some
-
Yeah, Raul. Thought crossed my mind once or twiced bout how cool 'twoulda been to fab this here 4 banger up outa brass & glo-plugs, etc , but das plastic is doing me just fine. Methinks ol' SKWIRLY kinda had some idea 'bout his 4banger doin' some serious bangin', so he suggested we keep it as far away from the driver as possible ---dat's why it's so waaaaaay back there
-
Ruff cut out distributor/mag drive cover plate. Cover plate all machined up & ready for test fit. Fits block oakey doakey. Started fabbin' up pulleys for blower and generator. These here for the generator, made out of '37 Chebby stock hubcaps. Blower pulley made from chrome inner wheel/backing plates from the Chebby. Big hex nut fabbed outa baby SKWIRLY's body parts that were cut away. Gonna be one SKWIRLY belt setup. Generator gets fabbed up next so I can start putting pulleys in alignment. SKWIRLY's air cooled 4banger way out back.
