  1. Whoops, sorry, I just went back and read your building a log truck. Will it be an off highway rig like the one in your picture or one that travels on paved roads?
  2. What I meant to say is, what kind of wheels do you think would look best on the truck your building? Even if you have never seen them in a kit, they may be out there in resin. Do you have any pictures of the truck your building? Is it an over the road highway rig or something more heavy duty like a logger or dump? 3. What type of wheels are you looking for?
  4. The reason, i'm so interested is the "no painting" part! I hate painting in general and the thought of getting out the airbrush just to spray the Alclad puts me off even more. I'm just lazy I guess! LOL I was thinking though, this stuff might be cool to "partially plate" an item? Such as a headlight bucket that needs to be body color on the outside and "chrome" on the inside. Maybe it could be done without even having to mask anything? Just a thought.
  5. I'm really interested as well but like others are saying, i'd like to see some small automotive type parts done up using this product before I jump in and buy it. For those that have purchased it, please post pics as soon as you you can!
  6. I can't get that link to the video to work? I searched YouTube with no luck? If someone could please post another link to the video, that would be great! Thanks!
  7. Those Manufactory lug nuts are nice!!!! Where do you get them and how much do they run for a set?
  8. Now your just being shellfish! LOL
  9. I have had Robert (RB Motion) make me several different types of machined aluminum lug nuts. I send him the specifications and he gives me a qoute. Always very reasonable. I just recently had some long 7/8" lug nuts like those found on 4X4 trucks to use on the Weld Super singles I machined and cast into resin. Robert has also produced different sizes of acorn lug nuts for my semi truck wheels. I really like these Fenton wheels and will be ordering a set! Jim, I sent you an email asking if you would be interested in making some specific wheels for me. Please let me know if you do not recieve it.
  10. I forgot to mention, the AMT Fruehauf van is due to be re-released very soon and the AMT Flatbed and logger trailer reissues are out right now.
  11. Even though this is a snap together kit, it is the most detailed and accurate W900 "A" model Aerodyne cab/sleeper unit, available in kit form. If you were to combine this kit with a Revell Kenworth W900 kit you could easilly build a very accurate and detailed Aerodyne. The only flaws in this kit (in my opinion)are the tires as they usually warped, the rear wheels are too shallow and the chassis is to simplified. The Caterpillar 3406 has a lot of potential and is only found in these two kits (KW and Pete 359) from Revell (Monogram) This kit was issued molded in silver, then again in orange and now in white.
  12. Hello Bradley, actually, there's no difference in the most recent issue of this kit as compared to any of the 70's-80's issues. The parts have actually been "cleaned up" a bit! The tanks have always been molded in white plastic in both the dual drive and the single drive versions. I would recommend assembling them, filling the seams, sand them very smooth and the paint them with Alclad chrome. Body color tanks look cool as well with chrome straps. Now, if you want to really detail your kit, a super nice photo etch set has been custom made by a guy in Germany that has been specifically designed to fit this AMT Freightliner DD kit but it could be used on a single drive kit as well. The kit includes a LOT of parts such as a complete photo etch grille, all the "White Freightliner" emblems, wipers, tiny dash fans, door steps, dash overlays, stack guards, radiator sceen overlay, vent window frames and a lot more! Really awesome stuff! I have the the first set produced and there will be more available at the end of April or the beginning of May. If you would like more info, send me a message.
  13. LOL, I'm 6'6", 308lbs and I don't eat that much either! He's huuuuungry!
  14. ROFL, That one is too funny not to reply too! LOL
  15. Hey Mike. The Revell KW represents a newer model Aerodyne and has much more detail and working features than the AMT KW. You can have any wheelbase on any truck, that is usually up to the owner or the application. The best place to cut the frame rails is to where the spliced area ends up either behind a fuel tank mount or with a crossmember centered behind it. This provides more strength at the spliced joint. I like to try and have the splice end up behind the fuel tank mount so that it's easily hidden as well as strengthend. Try looking at places like Truckpaper.com for ideas on chassis length and wheelbase. The wheelbase number of the truck pictured is usually in the description.
  16. Cool stuff!!!!!! I see your keeping DCP in business!
  17. On the Cummins i'm currently building, I sprayed the manifold rust brown and now i'm going to sprinlke salt all over it. After that i'm going to spray very light mists of tan, grey and a very light pink. After all the paint is dry, i'll brush off the salt to reveal the rust colored specks.
  18. Now that's a model buildin chair! Sounds like you have a great wife!
  19. I didn't see those. How did you like the huge pink submarine from that movie (I forget the name) It took some guts to paint a big expensive model that way! LOL The large scale NSX was nice. A couple of my friends that were in the sellers area told me to check out the scratch built Tioga RV being that i'm an Rv technician of over 15 years and a model builder. It was nice, could be better with some simple changes such as having proper decals made rather than what appeared to be stickers or maybe paper glued on? I was impressed that the builder took the time to make the chassis look correct on it though! There were some nice dioramas there as well!
  20. Wow! That is really cool!!!!!!!!! Beautiful paint job!
  21. The last I heard, Dave Natale (AITM) has the Silver State molds but I don't know if he intends on bringing them back or not? He is currently remastering the old Frank Gorseme Marmons and stuff so maybe so? Dave is also selling stuff for Bob Sniegowski (Illini) again. All kinds of new stuff and old conversion kits being reissued again!
  22. Cool! Thanks for the heads up! I forgot it was this weekend and almosat missed it! I picked up some good deals on a couple kits!
  23. Lookin good Eric!!!!!!!!!
  24. Just an FYI, theres a model truck section on this forum where you'll find many more that are more into building trucks and can help you out with questions you may have. As far as the trailer you looking for, The AMT 40' reefer is due to be re-released here in the next couple months if you can wait? Also, i've seen several on Ebay in the model truck section going pretty cheap! Hope this helps.
