  1. I didn't notice any ghosting on your gorgeous roadster, Peter. I'm going to try Ambroid because he bottle cap has a little brush on it. First I have to finish stripping the '53 Ford pickup.
  2. I've been playing with that darn place too long and getting no where. Says I need a google account before a youtube account. I do that and then I can't be found. I'm going out for a smoke while I restart the computer.
  3. If it's for free - it's for me!! I tried to sign up and I keep getting the message that youtube doesn't like me. I'll keep trying.
  4. What do you have to do to subscribe and how much does it cost?
  5. Compressed air can freeze things real quick. I don't think I would use it on a build. Computer keyboards, yes. It'a already snowed in Hawaii - last week Florida was the only state of the 50 that didn't have snow on the ground. And leave Gregg alone - he's supposed to be mailing my MCM T-shirt.
  6. I guess I'll have to try the Tenax treatment and then the CA treatment. Yes, I read your post severl times, Bill, but that was some time ago and I forgot. I'm not very good at searching for old posts. Are you ever going to start posting your builds/tutorials again?
  7. Maybe that's the problem - I've using Testor's liquid cement. I have Tenax and will try it. I always use Plasticote primers will try the duplicolor sealer primer. Thanks guys.
  8. I like to remove door handles and emblems. I've tried brushing on liquid glue to the area when still raw. I've tried Future and primed when it was dry. But I still get ghosting. I never had the problem when I used Testor's or Tamiya rattle cans, but now I use HOK basecoats and candies. The ghosting doesn't appear after the silver or gold basecoat - only after I spray the candy. I don't like the idea of going back to rattle cans. Any suggestions to my dilema?
  9. Carney Plastics makes an excellent product.
  10. Glass cases? Maaybe heavy but more duable than plexiglass in that the glass won't scratch. I think I'll wait to see the article. When will that January issue be coming out? Aren't we supposed to get the December issue first?
  11. Yes. there's a ton of information here. Whenever I get the paint on that car hauler stripped and ready to build the truck to haul it, I'll be getting in touch with you truck builders. The car hauler could be a neat item to display some of my model car builds. Now that I think about it, the truck I used before had a straight front and I like the look of the trucks with the big long hood out front.
  12. Not being a big truck modeler, Jim B, I didn't realize that. I've built only 1 big truck years and years ago to haul the car carrier trailer - both are in pieces right now waiting to be introduced to the purple pond some day and re-built. Thanks for the info.
  13. For that kind of money Dr. Cranky, you could go to Home Depot or Lowe's and purchase some clear plexiglas sheet and cut to size for a particular build. To hold it together, use clear silicone on the inside corners. Make the top last, align with the sides, and silicone it in place. The use of blue masking tape is highly recommended. I should have mentioned first to get a piece of wood to use as a base. MAybe I should try my hand at a tutorial on this subject?
  14. Exceelent idea, Jason. I have to print that so I'll have it in my binder. Thanks.
  15. I have a small drawer filled with these things and never think about them. Also in the same drawer are stanchions, flood lights, sign boards, and some other show related items. I'm going to have to dif everything out.
  16. I don't understand why somebody would want 3, 4, or more of the same kit. Why keep building the same thing over and over?
  17. I usually start with a damp paper towel to get the clumps off and then rub on The Model Wax.
  18. I'm likin' this one. Are you going to provide specifics of how you hinged the door?
  19. WOW!! Too many people will be having a hard time for too long. My heart and prayers to out to them all.
  20. Terrific looking build.
  21. Some interesting ideas here. Wal-Mart has some pretty good sized plastic storage boxes for sale and many of them are clear/translucent. Light on the outside might provide enough light inside the booth.
  22. Do you have a website, Jim? How would one go about checking a catalog & pricing?
  23. I've got a bunch of flathead engines that I'll trade for all your non-1930s kits.
  24. I like the 3 & 4 wheels but have to agree that tires could be an issue. I have wheels and tires that I ordered from Ma's Resin and they are top notch items. I'd check with him (Alan) first.
  25. I'll tell you what a real rant is. A real rant is putting itmes up for trade and a member says he's interested in a particular item. You put that item to the side and then you never hear from the person again. VERY frustrating.
