  1. I haven't seen an SA or SAE for years and don't need/want to as long as MCM continues. I appreciate what Gregg, Harry, and whoever are doing for the hobby through the magazine and this forum. Sure, I'd like to have the magazine on time, but I'm not going to go beat someone over the head because I don't have it. Shoot, it took a month for a MCM T-shirt to get here - but I finally got it, and will be wearing it Saturday at JaxCon2011.
  2. Sounds like quite a snowstorm. You folks in it's path, please take care. Staying home might be a better option than trying to go out on the roads. Let the snowplowing people do their thing. If you go out to shovel, take precautions and dress warm and don't hurt your back - right Gregg?
  3. I've had back pain since a motorcycle accident in 2001. A guy made a left turn into me - caught me between the shifter and front fork. The impact sent me flying up and through my windshield, did a rated 10 somersault (witness testimony) while in the air and landed flat on my back. Concussion and 7 broken ribs. Yesterday I trimmed a bunch of trees with limbs as large as 8" diameter. The larger stuff I hauled to my neighbor for use in his fireplace. The smaller stuff will get loaded on the trailer and hauled to the landfill. I held off waiting for the elves to show up and do the work but got tired of waiting, so I did it myself. Sometimes you just need to bear the pain and get the work done. Yes, I know back pain. I already popped a prescription ibuprofin before I go out and start loading that trailer.
  4. During the Chicago storm of 1967 I walked from home to the Jewel food store I worked at - about 5 miles. We stayed at the store for several days. A brerad delivery truck got stuck in the snow a few blocks from the store so we bundled up, barrowed some kids snow sleds and went to get the bread. We almost sold every loaf (for cash) before getting back to the store. One of the happiest days of my life was selling my huge two stage snow blower (I threw in the snow shovels and ice choppers for free) just before moving to FLA. Best of luck to everyone in the path on this MONSTER STORM (as reported in today's Citrus County Chronicle).
  5. Maybe when you get settled in a little in Tampa, I could stop by and see your pressure pot, how it hooks up to everything, and see how your casting goes. What do you think? I'm a beginner molder/caster and have been doing parts just for me, but I have some items now that maybe of interested to other builders - Brembo brakes, a variety of air filters and bucket seats.
  6. I don't do facebook so that I get more MCM forum time.
  7. Brian - what's with all the Krylon paint? Do you use it on every build?
  8. Ohhhhh. I have that kit. I didn't know it builds that nice. You did a terrific job on it.
  9. Pressure pot, huh? Will using one help get rid of air bubbles in the casting? How big are these things, how much do they cost, and where do you get them? Maybe I should look into a pressure pot.
  10. MCM November 2010 #154 was delivered today in pristine ccondition. I won't tell you what's in it because I haven't really looked at it yet. I quickly looked for the build your own display case from glass, but didn't see it. So where's the article Harry? Or did you mean the December 2010 issue?
  11. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Dr. Cranky.
  12. There's a shot - and a SAVE!!! Looking good.
  13. Maybe when you settle down in Tampa you'll consider joining the Model Car Builders of Florida. It's 72 and sunny - probably warmer in Tampa. Good luck with your moving.
  14. The casting is easy. Getting the mold right is the trick. There's going to be a molding/casting seminar in Orlando on February 4, July 15, and then in October. The $75 fee gets you the seminar, lunch, and a sample pack (I thinks it's Smooth-On items).
  15. Whereabouts in Florida you going to be? Unemployment rate is high so best of luck finding a job, but it's supposed to be 70 and sunny today and warmer tomorrow and Monday. No hurricanes are forecasted at the present time and no snow either.
  16. That's a really nice looking build, Lyle.
  17. The scoop looks good, Tom. But since the part came from another kit, it will be most difficult to duplicate in another build. Didn't happen to make a mold of the pieces, did you?
  18. I thought I subscribed but don't see my name on the list and I don't get email notices. Maybe I need to try again. Cool videos though.
  19. Howdy Allen and welcome to the best model car forum around as far as I'm concerned.
  20. I think you need to put some tracks on that thing or at least some real wide tires.
  21. I bet this is going to be another terrific build. Is that HOK paint you're using pre-mixed?
  22. It's amazing!
  23. What a gorgeous build, Peter. I love the look of those bubbletops and combined with Corvette goodies makes it look even better.
  24. What did that start out as, G? With all the work I don't recognize the body, but now it looks like a tank.
  25. Thanks guys. Gotta have a heater. It's supposed to be a street car - that's why I went with the full exhaust. Haven't seen the ball for many, many years, but back then you had to have one on the antenna or the car didn't leave home.
