Here's my version of Revell's '68 Dodge Dart Hemi. It's finished with HOK solar silver basecoat covered in brandywine candy and then several coats of Tamiya TS65 pearl clear. After drying it was rubbed with Novus #3 and finally finished with The Treatment Model Car Wax. Big & little Pegasus chrome T's with their disc brakes behind. I used the hemi with its' headers but adjusted the 440 exhaust so that I have pipes all the way to the rear ending with polished aluminum tips. The engine is wired and plumbed - first time I put in heater hoses. Do you like the ball on the antenna? That was a big deal in late '60s around Chicago. I think it was called a superball.

Just a small update - I'm planning to use '69 Camaro taillights. The chassis is in color so I can start putting that together. The trunk ties into the chassis as does the rear of the passenger compartment, so all that needed final paint before assembly.

A ton of work going on there and I think it'll be worth it. Keep going.

Not a bad idea, Dave. I keep my 1:1 tools seperate from my modeling tools and never think to mix them. I'll have topen my mind. Hope you're continuing to recuperate.

I did, Mike, and went back to a "real" TV show - WWE Friday Night Smackdown.

I can understand registering bidders and making sure they are qualified to bid (ie. sufficient funds), but charging that much money, plus BJ taking a percentage of each sale? There's some serious money being made by BJ.

Very nice. I'd like to see the questions answered about paint, emblems.

I watched a little bit of the auction when WWE went to commercial. I thought I heard it announced that people have to pay $500.00 just to be able to bid. Can that be right? I need to contact some of those people because I have several bridges for sale - and these people appear to be bright enough to buy them.

Terrific build, Tommy. The weathering likes like it's on the money.

I don't think I've seen a Matador kit before. This is going to be cool. I don't care what color you use - it's your build.

Much respect for the military

A friend (USS Forrestal Veteran) uses the following signature on his email "If you're not willing to stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them". I am a Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War. I can say that now. Back in the 1970's we weren't very popular people and too many of us tried to hide the fact that we served in Vietnam. I worked with a guy for over 10 years before we confessed to each other that we were Vietnam Veterans and that was only because of an event. I let it be known that I was going to attend the dedication of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC in November 1982. Dedication weekend brought back too much and I spent the next 5 years as an outpatient in the mental health section of the local VA. I was suffereing from PTSD. And I had my name of "Crazy" long before that - and earned it. God Bless our Veterans and God Bless the USA. -
Need molding/casting help
crazyjim replied to crazyjim's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks. Ian. That's about wht I've been doing except using hot glue instead of the tape. I tried another 2 piece mold and forgot to use release agent. I ruined the mold cutting it apart and that was the last of my OOMOO 30 mold stuff. I've ordered some but will probably take at least a week to get here. And thank you, Mark. I sent you a PM. -
Looks good. Excellent color choice.

Getting the equipment to pressure cast is way more thatn I want to get involved in casting. The resin is still setting out there. -

I'm using Smooth-On OOMOO-30 for the molds and their casting stuff too. I discovered a problem with the 2 piece mold in that the pour tube went to the caliper and the resin wasn't able to go around it to the rotor. I tried cutting another pour tube and it's setting up now. If this works -great, but then I hit another problem. I'd like to be able to cast 4 disc brakes at one time. I'm wondering if I was in too much of a hurry for the resin to set in the 1 piece mold, so I poured again and will wait a couple of hours before checking the results. This project of trying to save a couple of bucks on building materials is starting to be a money losing proposition. -
Anyone try this chrome paint?
crazyjim replied to my66s55's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Looks promising. Who's going to spend the $$$ to try it out? -
I like that little bugger. Please don't say that you hand painted the plaid interior.

I may have a solution for you, Greg. 1) I'll come out there and remove that beater Charger from the garage for you . 2) If you have room on your property, put up a shed. We ran out of room so we put up a 20' x 40' steel building. I took 10' x 20' of it for a hobby room. Besides models, I also do stained glass. The hobby room is insulated, drywalled, heated, air conditioned, stereo, lights, water, power, and was a fantastic solution of where to keep a dune buggy, my Harley, Marcia's Gold Wing trike, Christmas decorations, etc. The other side of the property has a 10' x 20' shed used just for yard equipment. Our 2 car garage houses just our cars - actually an SUV and a pickup. But don't forget - whoever dies with the most toys, wins!

Mark Gustavson/Model car Museum
crazyjim replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I went to the site provided by Carl. It hasn't been updated for 3 years and even has a promise to provide updates 5-7 times per year. I tried to send them and email, but it was rejected. I'd be very leery about making any donation to the museum. -
Sure is shiny (I like shiny). Interior details looks good too.

Mike, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I'm retired and living in Florida. I don't play golf but there's about 6 or 7 courses within 10 miles of my house. Doo-doo happens and often at the worst possible moment. Sit back and relax, Ab. I feel your frustration with the ghosting porblem I've been having. The '53 Ford pickup I've been building in back in prime after 3 complete paintings. This time I used Ambroid over the sanded areas before primer. I use CA glue only on parts that I plan to paint. Seems every time I use CA, a haze appears around the glued joint(s). I use mostly Testor's in the tube or Testor's liquid in the bottle. -
Put the body in prime yesterday. I'm hoping to mold a taillight that will fill the area I created with the Evergreen. It would a full width unit. I haven't figured out how to create, mold, and cast such a piece yet.

Pics might help, Ian. I did that exact procedure on the second or third mold attempt, Moparman. Even had an air vent and pouring shoot. The part came out extremely thin and worthless. Thanks for the info guys.
