  1. There has to be several threads here about making your own paint booth. Pics of mine are below. I used 3/8" plywood (because I had some laying aound), 1x1 strips inside to hold the 12 x 24 filter, bathroom exhaust fan, 4" duct and it's vented outside. The cart came from Harbor Freight or Northern Tool. I ran an electrial cord to the 4 switched receptacles (light, fan, compressor, spare). The unit is patterned the size of a large Pace unit.
  2. I just started casting and am using Smooth-On OOMOO and Smooth Cast 300 resin. Wheels are a pain but the bucket seats and fuel cells I've been doing look pretty good. I have an order in with Ma's Resin for some clear Aluminite with red dye so I can try casting taillights. Did all you Aluminite users know that Ma's Resin sells the stuff at a discount? You may want to check his prices.
  3. George, it seems like a lot of grief could have been spared if Gregg would have just posted that he's in severe pain and is having a difficult time getting #152 out in a timely fashion.
  4. I don't think I've ever seen a digital magazine. Would the digital version be the same as the hard copy version? If you had a hard copy subscription, why would you want a digital version? BY the way, if I understand one of Gregg's replies, it sounds as if he hurt something and is recovering. If so, hope you're doing well and get better soon (really, I mean it).
  5. Pretty soon it'll be Christmas. Maybe we'll get #152 for the holidays.
  6. Whoa! Those are some real nice looking builds, Gil.
  7. Good choice, Clay. 29 Stumps is desert and there's Marines all over the place. Semper Fi.
  8. There were just two - Doug and myself. It was great meeting Doug and we discussed forming a new club. Since FLA is spread out, we thought the best plan would be to get people in the different regions to help spread the word to get people to join in their local area. Get the word out via email, Facebook, MCM forum, SA forum, fliers in hobby shops with a name and email, 1:1 car shows & racing, model car shows, etc. The regions would then set a date/time for an annual meeting in a central location. I can easily supply everyone with a jpeg file that you can print and get posted and can also make you a membership card through email. Send me a PM if you want one. There will no annual dues until we are firmly organized. Doug is friends with Big Daddy Don Garlits and will look into a meet & greet at Don's museum in Ocala and also some table space for us when Don has a show.
  9. As I understand it, after sanding you're supposed to put on a coat of liquid glue before priming. Does something to the plastic. I believe Mr. Obsessive posted this tip and more recently BluesmanMark. I wonder if after priming, would a coat of Future work?
  10. Thanks for sharing the pics. Any idea how the water coming out of the hose was done?
  11. There was a WIP posted here about a big Bronco and I think the builder used teenie weenie nuts & bolts for his suspension. I'm not very good at searching posts, otherwise I would give you the link.
  12. I believe there are people out there who purchase whole collections - maybe JimOhio, Model Empire? Maybe google model car collectors?
  13. No it's not funny, Mike. It's October 19, 2010 and the September issue should have been delivered, in pristine condition, to my door several weeks ago. The November 2010 issue of Readers' Digest wes delivered yesterday. I don't know if any RD employees own a Mustang.
  14. It's a 1 hour, 20 minute drive (according to MapQuest) for me. I plan on leaving by 1:00pm in order to make the 2:30pm meeting.
  15. That's different, but I like it.
  16. You keep doing your best and hang in there, Dave.
  17. The 2 seater is looking very good.
  18. Very nice job on a very difficult kit. Don't you love the 2 piece body and the way it attaches to the fender unit?
  19. We're out of the pool - felt good with 89 degree water. Thank you VA for the money to buy a heater. 2:30 it is, Doug. This is gonna be cool. I'll probably be wearing a tye dye T-shirt and driving a white Nissan Frontier with purple flames on the box. It's going to work, Don. Come on out and be part of it. The potential logo - if/when it agreed on, could also be our membership cards. I'd be happy to make the coupe & lettering almost any color you want and put your name, expiration date and snail mail them to you. I might even laminate them for you. Can you tell I'm excited about this club? Kelly's have crinkle cut french fries? I have a taste for them.

Those are Pegasus "T"s wheels I think. Hobbylinc has the 23" and Scale Dreams usually has 19"s and 23"s and a combo pack with 2 19"s and 2 23"s. Looks like Clay spiffed up the spokes a little.
  21. Been playing with my graphics program, showed Doug what I did, and he asked that I post what might become the Model Car Builders of Florida logo. What do you think? We could also use it for membership cards. My LHS, Rob's Hobby World in Ocala, will give a 10% discount to club members. Model Car Builders of Florida - Tuesday, October 19, 2010 meeting at Kelly's, 794 West Minneola Ave., Clermont, FL 34711. What time Doug?? That's a 70 mile one way drive but it's going to be worth it. Niko from Finland is coming to FLA and I invited him to the meeting. Wouldn't it be something if he showed? Now it's POOL TIME!!
  22. Okay. She found it. Doug - did you get my real email with the jpeg attached?
  23. Me again. My wife does Facebook and she couldn't find the club. What's the link? How do we find it?
  24. Me three (or four). Does this mean I need to do Facebook?
