  1. Welcome Ken. Can't wait to see the pics.
  2. Real nice looking 57.
  3. I've discovered something else about using solder for exhaust pipes. I used the solder and put polished aluminum tubing for the ends. I didn't glue the solder or tubing to the chassis. The solder has dropped. It needs to be supported somehow or over time it will droop.
  4. Phantastic!!
  5. Doing your usual excellent work and it's interesting to watch. Why though, would anybody need a sleeper cab on a tow truck? They don't do long, multiple day trips, do they?
  6. Got Ed "Big Daddy" Roth's Outlaw and some cast resin parts in a trade with Ohiochris.
  7. Looks excellent. I like how you colored the pipes where they make the bend.
  8. The stuff without the acid core in .062" diameter. Radio Shack carries it. Pull a length from th roll but don't cut it yet. Grab the loose end with pliers, hold the reel, and pull. That will straighten the solder. Then you can bend to the shape you want.
  9. I use a desk from when I was a kid. I might be fortunate in that I have a 20' x 40' steel building on our property. I took a 10' x 20' area for a hobby area that has been finished with insulation, drywall, heat, AC, and water. I also do stained glass so I need space. I have a 3'x 8' workbench, 2' x 8' cutting/grinding table, 1' x 6' glass storage area. I use the desk for assembly and the worktables for laying out parts.
  10. I think this is going to be interesting. Isn't it expensive to buy stuff from overseas and have it shipped to USA? All Howard's prices have that funny L in front and I don't know what it would amount to in dollars.
  11. That's a pretty good idea, Randy, but can you buy airplane wheels or have to get a whole kit?
  12. I did the index card trick and it came out okay. Tried embossing powder on another build and am not sure if I like it. You can get embossing powders at Michael's or Hobby Lobby. Look in the area that they have rubber stamps.
  13. I have that same issue and some other old stuff too.
  14. Terrific build. I love the flames.
  15. Trying to get ready for a teleconference meeting Sunday morning. We have had 3" of rain so far this morning and it's still coming down. We're supposed to go to a car show this afternoon, but with the rain, who knows? If I can get out to the shop, I have the '60 Chevy S/D, '27 track T, '70 Eldorado, and a Nova pro-street going.
  16. Amazing work you're doing, John. Should be interesting to follow. I can just imagine the painting you're going to do.
  17. Excellent news, Kevin. Congratulations!
  18. Thnaks Jeff. More stuff to chwck out. Do you use the Smooth-On products for the molds & resin? Alumilite? Something else?
  19. That engine is looking pretty. So is the rest of the build. I ordered some armature wire but it's too big and doesn't bend very well. What size did you get?
  20. FedEx delivered the foam samples today.
  21. To make a 2 part mold you need oil based non-sulfer modeling clay like Chavany NSP clay. My problem is that it comes in 2 colors and then soft, medium, and hard. Great! So which one? Chavant is sending me samples. I don't have prices yet. So which is better? Alumilite or Smooth-On?
  22. I sent an email to Smooth-On about a mold & casting kit. They have a starter kit that sells for $50.00 to make 2D castings. If I wantedd to try casting a wheel, wouldn't that be 3D? Here's the info - http://www.smooth-on.com/index.php?cPath=4_1217
  23. Yo Ed - what's all that white stuff on your panel truck?
  24. Very intesting build and one worth watching. Keep going.
