  1. Scott, Since you are commenting about my '60 Bonneville, It is a model of the car my late Father had from 1960-1962, and I an quite proud of the model. Unfortunately for you, until I am able to clear the problem up with my computer, I cannot post without the siganture, so you can either get used to seeing the red Bonneville, or don't read my posts or comments. Your choice.
  2. You are not a fool. On real vehicles changes from year to year are normally done to either change the looks, or to improve the product. If the vehicle's changes are not too dramtic, then the updated parts can probably be used in vehicles from various years. In the case of the '73 through '87 Chevrolet/GMC pickup trucks, several of the parts interchange. In the model world, MPC produced various models of this vehicle from 1977 (1978 Chevrolet 2wd Stepside Pickup) through 1984 and beyond (1984 GMC Fleetside 4wd Pickup). The parts from the kits that were changed from year to year were the grilles, wheels, 4wd drive axles (1979 trough 1984 kits), etc. The "Fall Guy" variation of this kit had a Fleetside bed, which will fit on all the other variants, without a lot of extra work. The 1978 edition of this kit was the only one with the 2wd front end setup, but the chassis will fit on all of them. The common parts of the kit were not changed over the kits run (Glass, basic interior tub, engine, chassis). If you can find an AMT 1984 GMC Pickup, buy it. with the exception of the hood and grille, the parts in it will be fresh and clean, and will fit. The Revell parts will not work without a whole lot of modification. My reasoning for replying to this post, is that I sold Chevrolet trucks from 1978 through 2007. These vehicles have a special place in my heart, and I have had several of that series of truck as company demonstrators over the years. I also have a couple of the 1984 GMC kits, an original 1978 Chevy Pickup kit, and I just picked up a 1980 Chevrolet Pickup kit, all unbuilt, and no, none are for sale or trade. With the kits I have, I plan to recreate a couple of my demostrators. Build to come later.
  3. If it were mine, I would use as much from that MPC glue-bomb as I can, even if you have to resort to repairing some parts. Also, if you can get your hands on one of the AMT '84 GMC PU Kits, that should give you a lot of parts that will work on this kit. The Revell kit is not too good in my opinion.
  4. I am impressed with your work Jonathan. Thank you for the information.
  5. Steve! You have another winner there. I like the addition of the up-top, and your work looks spot on. When I was a kid, my next door neighbor had a white '59 Mercury Monterey convertible whith a white top, and red interior, similar to this Park Lane I can't wait to see where this one ends up.
  6. Ow!!! At least it happened at this stage while you can fix it, and there was no paint. It looks so good so far though.
  7. Steve, You hit that one out of the park!!!!!! That one brings back memories, as Mom's first car was a Black/White Top, Red Interior 1960 Mercury Monterey 4-door Sedan. That thing was such a beast. It was a 6-year old when she got it, as it was her first car. She beat on it, but it got her where she had to go. It had little oil and fluid leaks, and swilled gas like a drunk at a bar, but it would go.
  8. Steve, For the past couple of years, I have been on a 1960 kick. I guess it is because they are among the earliest cars I actually remember, as I was born in late '56. It seems to me that the 1960 model year was a time when a lot of my family mambers bought new cars, and I remember all of them. The cars were: Dad: 1960 Bonneville Convertible- Coronado Red w/Red Tri-Tone Leather Interior, and Red Convertible top. (Signature) Uncle John: 1960 Ford Sunliner Convertible- Black w/Black/White Interior and White Convertible top. (Avitar) Grandpa: 1960 Mercury Monterey 4-Door Phaeton (Harctop)- Sultana Turquoise w Turquoise and Black Interior. (When I find another one) My neighbor across the alley had a Roman Red '60 Impala 2 -door hardtop. I was kind of an oddball, as on Christmas of 1959, I got a red Kiddie-Bird 1959 Chevrolet Pedal Car, which has disappeared from my grandmother' s house mysteriously after I grew up. The acquisition of the Edsel Convertible was unexpected, and kind of expensive. When I was a kid, one of my neighbors who lived in the next block had a Beige '60 Edsel Ranger 2 door hardtop, which I thought was a nice looking car. I am plodding along with my current project, a 1960 Ford Country Squire. I have not posted any pictures of it in the past week. Last Sunday, I upgraded the interior to closely match the factory Country Squire interior pattern for 1960. I still have a few things to do before paint. The humidity here has not let met shoot any paint over the last few days. I love the work that you are doing with these 1960 cars, and I look forward to your posts.
  9. That's going to be another nice one. Here's my convertible I wanto to do. I have done the bodywork, and it's ready for primer.
  10. Cooooooooollllllll!!!!!!!!!
  11. Looks good to me. I have an original 1962 AMT Fairlane 500 built up that is being restored. I am leaning towards Chestnut, with the White and Chestnuut trim.
  12. Thanks Gabriel. I still have a lot of work to do to this one. The stance is a little goofy, so I have to lower it. Also the running stock is going to depend on the paint, and how the interior comes out. I may work on it today.
  13. Lookin' Good!!!!!
  14. Yesterday, I was able to get some more work done on the Hubley Ford Wagon. A little plastic, a little putty, sanding and priming , and here we are. All of the sink marks are removed, and I deepened the panel lines. Now on to the interior. I have the paint, and I may be able to paint it Monday.
  15. Beautiful. Not what one would expect from this kit.
  16. I wish that some one could master a set of those caps. I put Cragars on my '65, but I would have preferred a set of doggies on steelies. I tried to do them, but they did not come out too good.
  17. Abosolutely Fantastic!!!!!!
  18. That is absolutely stunning!!!!!
  19. Yes! Yes! Yes! I love the cars of 1960. .. all I need is the Olds, and I will have all of the GM Convertibles. .. and here are two ex glue-bomb '60 Mercs waiting... .. a T-Bird 'vert to be worked over, ... ....as well as a Lioncoln Continental. Your Merc is absolutely beautiful!!!!!!!!!
