The Javelin & Other AMC Muscle Cars
Ron Hamilton replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Missing Link resin did a Hornet SC360 a few years back. I have one, and it's dead on the money. It does not include the drive train, but the suggested one is the S/C Rambler. I think a more accurate engine can be found in an AMT Gremlin or Matador, which I have. No it's not for sale. -
I am quite happy with the order I just got from you. Make that elated!!!!!

You did very well with that one.

Eric, I like the build in the color combination you chose. Bare Metal can be a killer, as it has at times given me fits, and this car has more trim on it than meets the eye. I have cut the roof from the sedan, and my next step is the flipper panel. Once I get that done, I'll snap a few pictures and start a thread on this one. I may even attempt an up top, since I was able to salvage the roof, and the shapes are similar between the two. I used the brochure, which had several pictures of the car. There was an Aqua and a Dark Ivy Green convertible in the brochure. Both are very nice, but I am leaning towards Triple Black, which I think will be stunning, and besides, I have the paint. I still have to get back to the '64 sedan too. It is ready for primer.

You know how I feel about that '60. I really like the car, as a model that I did of my uncle's car from the "new tool" '60 is my avatar. That is a beautiful model. This is going to be the next '60 I am going to do. Your light blue is an inspiration.

I am getting ready to do the "Hack and whack" to one of my '66's. I finally got everything I need to do the deed. I have to do a little research and scratch-building, but everything should come out smoothly. I still have not decided on the color combo, but I have plenty of paint, so that is not going to be a problem. Once I get started, I will start a thread on the build. Good luck on yours.

I have had a few Lincoln Convertibles in the collection, but I have sold some off. I have an un-built '61 Convertible I want to do. I am leaning towards Burgundy with the Burgundy Interior, like the cars that were in President Kennedy's inauguration. I have to look at the '66 Lincoln color swath. I have a brochure of the '66. Right now, I am about to put some primer on a '64 Sedan that I am building from junkyard parts.

Wow!!! I am doing the same thing myself. I bought a built-up a couple of months ago wit the same conversion in mind. I should be getting the wheelcovers for it in the next couple of days, then I can start on it.

If the back window is sealed in, it is a '66. If the back window is open, it is a '65. I have both, and I am in the midst of restoring a '65.

Like Snake said... I picked up this forlorn old gal... With a lot of work, planning, luck, and some parts, this is where I ended up... This one is one of my favorite builds, along with this one... Late '60's Imperials are very valuable in "mint" condition. This one was "rode hard and put away wet", as it was used as a toy. It was rather beat up, and had cracks and gouges in it. I had to strip it, and the "A" pillars and glass was toast, so I made a convertible out of it. This '63 Bonneville has been stripped of the Testors' Turquoise enamel from the mid '60's. There is some residue in some areas that I could not get out, but that is all right, as I am not too fond of the Creamy Yellow color, so it is going to get painted and detailed. My cousin had a Cordovan Maroon '63 Bonne, with a Black Vinyl Roof and a Black interior. That was one gorgeous car, and that is where this one will go. I would not rework a really valuable promo, but if one has any damage, or not too valuable, a re-do is going to happen. I am not a promo collector, so that is what I do with them. Now that The Modelhaus is winding down, I am not seeking out any more old promos to restore. Fortunately, I was able to get the parts I need to re-do the ones I have.

Any and all reviews are welcome. Be forewarned, writing reviews will cut into your building tome, but they are very much appreciated.

Round 2 AMT 2017 Chevrolet Camaro SS "Fifty" Edition
Ron Hamilton replied to Againmikewins's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I built the 2016 Glue kit when it first came out, and painted it some funky yellow, which I like. I had to tweak it a little to get the front end down. I think it compares favorably with the '67. My next set will be a Bolero Red '67 SS, a "Fifty", and a 1LE Snapper. I have not decided on the color yet, but I saw this Lime one at my favorite dealer. I have some Testors' Model Master Lime Lacquer I can use. (I know it's a Dodge/Plymouth color, but it is what I have.) This ride is growing on me! -

1963 Pontiac Bonneville Hard Top. Update, 3/25
Ron Hamilton replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Very nice!!! I noticed that you used the correct 8-Lug Wheels on this build. I bought a few sets of those wheels from the Modelhaus for my '63 and '64 Bonneville builds. -
Round 2 AMT 2017 Chevrolet Camaro SS "Fifty" Edition
Ron Hamilton replied to Againmikewins's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
After I picked up my kits, I stopped by my favorite Chevy Dealer, and they had both a "Fifty" and a 1LE Camaro in their inventory, which I was able to get a few photos of the cars. I was also able to see a privately owned SS "Fifty" at car wash where I was getting gas. The owner let me photograph his car, and I got some good photos with my phone. The striping is a flat finish, while the car itself is a dark pearlescent gray, with a black and gray interior. The hood on the 1LE car is flat black, while the splitter and rear spoiler is gloss. It is quite a striking car. I am leaning towards either bright red, or silver. I have to get some technical information on the car from other sources to start the build. -
OOOOOOOOOHHHHHH!
