The Snakepit Sting Ray Rescue & Resto Shop
Ron Hamilton replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Nice projects Richard! I got one that will get you going. Several years ago, I came across an original built up '63 Roadster that was unpainted, but had the custom geegaws glued to it, and a busted windshield frame. I did an admirable job cleaning it up, and I am still working on it. I have decided to make a '64 out of it, as I have some wheelcovers, a hood, and a Hardtop for it. I love those mid '60's Corvettes, having quite a few AMT, MPC, and Revell kits, and car parts to do several. -
1:18 E Production MGB Roadster

That looks pretty good to me. In my opinion, your build is welcome here. You're doing a lot of re-engineering and correcting of a mediocre scale model, and I tip my cap to you!!!! -
Junkyard Modeling - Resurrecting an AMT '64 Lincoln Sedan
Ron Hamilton replied to Ron Hamilton's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Good news!!! Last night I found the '64 Lincoln interior tub I bought several years ago. I tried to strip the Testors' copper paint off of it several years ago with limited success. Last night I manually scraped the leftover mess off of the seats with pretty good success, so now I can put some primer on it, and lay some paint and flocking on the interior. It took about 4 hours to do so, but I was able to save the detail. Now I have to make a final decision on the color combination. -
I have always liked Dodge Chargers. I have an unbuilt '73, and I just acquired a builder '74 "Super Charger", as well as a '72 where someone had installed the '71 underhood area from the latest tool . I am on the hunt for the latest '71 Charger kits, as I have several projects that I can use its guts on. The '72 is going to be built as a Rallye, as is the '74 too. I have a set of Charger Rallye decals for it, as well as the proper Rallye Wheels for it.

Looks good so far. I may have to check out the Clearly Scale Flat Hood and the later Front End with the Composite Headlamps. I already have the Model Car Garage PE Set for it, and I intend to get a set of Fireball Radial T/As. The first one I am going to do is going to be the '83 Hurst Olds.

My money for items that you make and sell will only go to you. I saw the carbs on Ebay, and I can honestly say that they were BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH! They were not as crisp as your product, and looked to me as if they were copies. He will not get ANY of my money!

Very nice work. Between your build and Bob Downie's work, I do not regret that I bought this kit.

Very nice hauls on both the Coronet R/T and the GTX.

Junkyard Modeling - Resurrecting an AMT '64 Lincoln Sedan
Ron Hamilton replied to Ron Hamilton's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I grew up admiring the car. Growing up in a "Ford family", I tend to notice things about certain aspects of them. My Dad, Grandfather, and uncles did a lot of work on their '60's Ford and Mercury products in our yard, and I got to either watch or participate. My Dad's '66 was just so cool, and I will build a Replica of that one in the near future. In doing my research on this car, I found that the '65 interior pattern is not the same as the '64, even though the tub will fit. However, whenever I go to an NNL, or a model club meeting, I tend to root through "junk boxes" for interesting items. I do have a '64 Lincoln interior with the biscuit seat stitch pattern somewhere in my basement. According to my research, that interior was available in several colors f cloth and leather trim. Now I have to find it. -

I just finished doing the color research on the car. While a Light Jade Interior would look great on the car, the color was not offered in 1964 on the Lincoln Continental. I may go with a beige interior, if I stick with green. I have to gather a couple more pieces from the basement, and get some primer on the car to make sure everything lines up before paint. -

I love suicide door Lincoln Continentals. I built this '61 from a previously built kit And this '67 from a unbuilt kit. I have several more to do after the '64. I may do one of my '66 Continentals as a Coupe' (2 Door hardtop). -
78 CHEVY SHORT BED

Wow!!!!!! -
Tom, I like where you are headed with this one. Back in '81, I had three Chevy Silverados for demonstrators, all 1/2 ton loaded 2wd long beds. We used to call them "Cowboy de Villes" They sold very well for our dealership. We also did well with K20 Silverados with the 454/Turbo 400. I want to build one for myself. I still have one of the '78 MPC kit with the bench seat and 2wd. I may turn one of the GMC slant fronts into a Chevy, using the resin grille. The '81 Kit is too expensive for my budget right now.

A friend of mine mastered this for Missing Link. I am not sure if it is still available, but I plan to build it, as well as my Promolite '60 Fairlane 500 2 door Post Sedan. I have yet to build one as a Starliner, but I did do a Sunliner Convertible, using a Resin Transkit from Replicas and Miniatures Co. of MD. I had a set of full wheelcovers cast from the Hubley Wheel, which fit the AMT '62 Thunderbird Whitewall Tires. Model Car Garage makes a fantastic Photoetch set for this kit. This kit builds up very nice with very few problems. Get 'em while you can.

Junkyard Modeling - Resurrecting an AMT '64 Lincoln Sedan
Ron Hamilton replied to Ron Hamilton's topic in WIP: Model Cars
On all of the '60's Lincolns I have done, the grille fit leaves a lot to be desired. There is not much of an edge to attach the grille to. I will probably make a gluing surface out of plastic rod before I paint and prime it. I have gotten my hands on a '66 Sedan that is missing a couple of pieces.(hood, front and rear bumpers) , and the custom roof glued on. I have two more '66's, one of which is going to be a replica of my Dad's '66. Congrats on finding the '64 Cadillac Bench. I found an original, un-built '64 Coupe de Ville, which had the proper bucket seats for a convertible project. I also plan to do a correctly shaped windshield header for the de Ville Convertible, using either a forlorn '63 Buick Electra Convertible windshield frame, or modifying the part from a Revell '64 Impala Hardtop, which I may convert into a 4 door hardtop if I get a derelict Johan '63-4 Cadillac Coupe de Ville. I really want to do a '64 Eldorado Biarritz Convertible. A friend had one when I was in high school, and it was so cool, as he restored it to perfection. -
I was lucky enough to acquire one of these, not knowing that The Modelhaus was closing up shop In 1983, I sold the State of Md over 700 9C1 Impalas (marked and Unmarked), as well as most of the Police departments in MD, and some in Northern Va. In 1984 I sold Montgomery County MD several 9CI Impalas. I have the decals for the MD car, as well as a set of accurate Montgomery County MD Decals. I have this built-up Hubley '61 Sedan to do a Mayberry Squad Car. I have a shelf of several candidates for Police and Fire Cruisers in my stash, including decals and several types of roof lights. I guess that I an a closet police car builder.

One of our club members started work on one of those, which prompted me to pull the trigger on one of those. I have not started on mine yet, as I have to make up the rear compartment, which does not seem to be too hard to do. I will be following this build very closely.

Moebius 1965 Plymouth Belvedere I Is Completed
Ron Hamilton replied to mrmike's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I like this build very much. I have decided to do mine as a full dress Hemi Race car, using parts from the Melrose Missile kit, and some of those nice Fireball Design Carbs.. I also picked up the Model Car Garage Photoetch set, as I do not like decalized scripts, and the Belvidere I Script will disappear after I do my rudimentary bodywork. Your car is looking very nice so far. -
Several years ago, I came across a forlorn '64 Lincoln Sedan Body which was dirt cheap. It had a few issues, but it was stripped clean, and I figured that I could make something nice out of it. I went through my parts box, and I found a hood that would fit, so that part of the battle was won. At our club meeting, one of our menbers gave me a nearly complete AMT '65 Lincoln Convertible, that was missing the body, so that worked out great. Paul Gardner and me worked out a swap, where he gave me a front bumper/grille, that I touched up with a Motolow Chrome pen. Once the weather breaks, I am going to shoot some primer on it. I am leaning towards Dark Green Metallic, I think the chrome will set it off. I have quite a bit of work to do on this one, but I think I can pull it off.

Man! I am really loving this one. Every time I look at your '58, I look at my two, built off of the AMT kit. I dusted off these old girls, built while my hands were still steady, this one I did 26 years ago and this one I did about 20 years ago. It is one of my favorites, as I almost got to Dad's car with this one. Let' say this is his car after I got my hands on it.. Your '58 is one of my favorites.

Great find!! I love those cars. Several years ago, I found a couple of "builder" MPC '68 GTOs in my travels. I was able to strip them clean, and cut them apart for re-assembly. On this one, I decided on a vinyl roof. I used the chassis and underhood area from a 1969 442, as it gave me more detail than the original MPC Pieces. The engine came from the Revell '68 Firebird 400. This is one of my favorite builds. I have one more to do, probably in Red to match a friend's one-to-one. I am quite sure yours will be stunning.

Looks fine to me.
