1971 duster on steroids nov 6 decalled and nearly done
Ron Hamilton replied to freakshow12's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I am digging the In-Violet paint, and I think the white interior will set it off. When I was a kid there was a fellow who used to street race a '71 Duster 340 the same color. I have yet to build one, but I am leaning towards In-Violet, with a White Vinyl Roof, and White Interior. -
That box art is gorgeous, and will no doubt sell some kits. However, they need to start tooling up some new kits, as I have just about everything they made that I want. I am not a big showrod collector.

Amt 1958 Impala Vs Revell 1958 Impala
Ron Hamilton replied to BigPoppa's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Over the years, I have built several of the AMT '58 Impalas in one way or another, as well as using it for resin transkit fodder, and having another in the stash for a future build of Dad's first new car. As a matter of fact I have both the AMT and the Revell for the future project. In my opinion it has to rank as one of the best tools marketed by AMT, and it can stack up to the newer offering from Revell. However I voted for the Revell tool, because it is crisper, and the opening doors made me crazy. -
Quick Overview: Revell Starsky & Hutch Torino
Ron Hamilton replied to Chuck Kourouklis's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I picked mine up last Saturday. I brought a JoHan '72 Along for the comparison. The two are surpisingly close to each other size wise. I blocked the new kit, and removed the mold lines when I got it home. I still have not made my decision on the direction of this one. By the time I get around to it, Revell may be doing it in white, where I may take the '72 body, and combine it with one to make a '73. That is if I can scratch build a grille. -

1967 Nova conversion
Ron Hamilton replied to hedotwo's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I have a Putty Thrower set to do a '67. The headlamp surrounds and most of the interior (Super Sport) needs to be worked. One of my sister's Boyfriends parents had a red '67 Nova Sedan, and my best friend from Jr. High had a red '67 Super Sport.I would like to do one or the other of those. -
1965 Plymouth Sport Fury Convertible
Ron Hamilton replied to Ron Hamilton's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks Dan. I worked on it tonight, and I got the body ready for primer. I am 99% sure that I am going to do it as a Fury III, with the bench seat, since I have the promo interior tub, and the fender skirts were cut off by the previous owner. I blocked the body and it looks pretty good to me. I put the car up on its wheels, and I am pretty stoked about this one. I have to go into my paint stash and see what I have to paint it with. If I can not get a factory color, I'll just say that it made a trip to Earl Schieb. I'll look at the brochure again for that. I saw your '65 Satellite, and it's looking good. I have a Satellite mocked up too, ready for primer. I have to decide whether or not to do a Vinyl roof. A friend of mine had a Gold Satellite with a Black interior, and Cragar S/S about 1970, which was a nice car. I am trying to stay away from Turquoise. If I can, I'll take a photo of it tomorrow before I blow it apart for primer. -

Realistically rusty. Excellent Job!!!!! -
Beautiful.

That looks great Al. If Olds had marketed a 442 notchback, I bet they would have sold well.

1965 Plymouth Sport Fury Convertible
Ron Hamilton replied to Ron Hamilton's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Exactly. I cut the frame off at the bottom of the vent windows and windshield frame, and I remove the remnants of the same from the kit body. I line everything up with the door frames, and carefully glue it with CA Glue or epoxy. I have a '68 Plymouth Convertible where the frame broke, but the part was intact, except for the vent windows, and the break was clean. I reused it, and fitted it back on the body, and used plastic rod for the vent windows. http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg59/RonHamilton/mopar mania/DSCF2775.jpg I was going to use the resin part, but I gave it to another modeler who needed it for a car I sold him. I prefer to use plastic wherever I can, but the resin parts work out well when the plastic parts are not available. -
Scary good!!!

1965 Plymouth Sport Fury Convertible
Ron Hamilton replied to Ron Hamilton's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Today, I revisited the '65 Plymouth Fury Convertible. One of the problems I had with Johan back in the day, was that on the Plymouth and the Dodge in the mid '60's, the promos were the mainstream cars (Plymouth Fury/Fury III, Dodge Polara), While the kit interiors depicted the sporty level cars with the bucket seats (Plymouth Sport Fury/Dodge Polara 500), without the differences in the one to one world. Last week, I was able to pick up a '65 Plymouth promo interior, which had the front bench seat moulded in, so I can do the car as a somewhat correct '65 Plymouth Fury III convertible. One of our club's themes for our next NNL is going to be "Full Sized Muscle", so this Fury should fit right in. I want to do up a 426 Commando /TorqueFlite for it. As far as the running gear is concerned, I am going to use the factory full wheel covers, with a set of Blue Streak Tires. I have to prep the body for primer, and procure an engine/transmission for it, As for colors, Dark Blue, Silver, or White with a Blue Interior and Convertible Up-Top has always looked good to me with this car. I am stoked. -
Well Done!!!!!!

I am in complete agreement with you concerning the roof profiles between the 4 Door Hardtop and Post sedan. I have 3 Police sedans I want to build, and never touched because of how amt did the roof. It is correctable, and I may take it on one og these days. Maybe this winter. I want to do one as a Squad Car, a Taxi, and maybe a LTD Sedan. Modelhaus has the hood, wheelcovers, and front and rear chrome once the body gets done.

900.00 Starsky and Hutch model!
Ron Hamilton replied to Ben's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Paul's work is excellent, and he sweats the details. Fortunately for me, I have the time , patience, and skill to turn out a model that is satisfactory to me. I can't afford them, but I appreciate the work put into them, and the color combinations are top notch. -
I did the same thing on my '64 Valiant Signet Hardtop. Some very careful cutting and pasting gave me one of my favorite models. One of these days, I want to try the Revell '68-69 Dart Chassis, running gear, and underhood area under an AMT/MPC '67-'69 Barracuda, and maybe modify one of the LA Dart Swinger Funny Cars into a Replica Stock Swinger 340.

Thanks for sharing this one. I have one that I am working on. I started to add the stainless moldings on the fender and door edges, and I plan to correct the roof pillars, as they are awfully flimsy, as well as the side window profile, and adding a vinyl roof cover, as I would suspect that 85-90% of them had when they were new. Mine will be Triple Black. I may stick an engine and under-hood detailing under the hood.
