  1. I agree about the mirrors. I am going to add a set when I re-paint the hood.
  2. Pat, I am so jealous of your truck. I have a '63 to do I cleaned it up, stripped the paint, and laid on a coat of primer. I may go with these wheels and this stance, but I have a long way to go with this one. I have to rebuild the trim on the front fenders and the hood, as for some reason they are very faint, and do not line up to my standards. Your truck looks great, and is quite inspirational.
  3. MIke, I am very impressed with what you are doing with this one. You have raised the bar again.
  4. That one takes be back to when I was selling them.Excellent job!!!!
  5. Very Nice work Doug!!!! I love everything about this build.
  6. Earlier this year, another modeler sent me a Chevy pickup. It needed the front suspension, a tail lamp, an engine, and a new paint job. The previous build was pretty neat, ad this was not a glue bomb when I got it, it just needed some T.L.C.. After I stripped the paint from the body and interior, I had to find an appropriate suspension set up. My original plan was to take an AMT 1984 GMC 4x4, and appropriate the entire chassis and fleet side pickup bed, along with a 3" lift kit, and some Formula Desert Dog Tires on Aluminum Slots. When I was going through the parts box, I thought of a truck that was at a dealership I worked for. It was an absolutely loaded short bed step side 1990 Chevy Silverado 2 -Wheel Drive Pickup, that was factory ordered for a customer, but the deal fell through. The odd thing about the truck was that it had the standard issue blackwall skinny radials with white steel wheels, and dog dish caps. The manager stated that the original customer had a speed shop, and he was going to install a set of 15x8 American 200S Aluminum Wheels, mounted on an appropriate size Radial TA tires. THe vehicle eventually sold as it sat. I decided to go the 2-wheel drive route, as I like them, and I have plenty of 4-wheel drive model kits to build. I found some parts from a Revell '72 Olds Cutlass Convertible that could work, namely the front suspension set up, and the custom wheels and tires. with a little trimming, the suspension unit fit the chassis, and the project rolled right along. I had some tail lamp lenses from an aborted mid 90's Corvette, so I made up a set of bezels that fit the bed. The engine was a hodge-podge of parts from a MPC '78 Camaro (454/Turbo 400) I fitted under the hood. I had some Testors Black lacquer for the exterior, with Testors' Leather Brown Acrylic for the interior. The wood in the bed is some Fireball Designs' Wood decals I had left over from my 1960 Ford project. I did the slats with Bare Metal. The CHEVROLET letters on the tail gate were there when I polished the paint off of the white styrene. I think it worked out pretty good. Unbuilt, these kits are pretty scarce, and expensive. I have an unbuilt '80 4-wheel drive Chevy Pickup to tackle in the future. I love pickups, and have several to build. I have to re-paint the hood, as it has a blemish on it, but overall. I am happy with the build. I did not make any additional investment in this model. I used what I had. In hindsight, I would have painted it Red, with a Black Interior, just like a 1987 Chevy Pickup demo I had. I still like this body style. Maybe I will paint the next one Red.
  7. Thank You. As you can see, I am crazy about Camaros. I had 2 in the one-to-one world for myself, a '78, which I am building a replica of using a MPC annual, and a '91, which I built a replica of while I had the car. I sold cars for 30 years, so I had quite a few of them for demos in the '80's, and sold quite a few too.
  8. Nice work!!!!
  9. I made my own grille, using pieces from the Model Car Garage Photoetch. http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg59/RonHamilton/First Generation Camaro/MAMAOctober182014028_zps17729671.jpg http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg59/RonHamilton/First Generation Camaro/Revell1967CamaroSS396010_zps61ab4508.jpg http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg59/RonHamilton/First Generation Camaro/Revell1967CamaroSS396005_zps91922175.jpg and don't forget, you will have to do the tail lamps too. http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg59/RonHamilton/First Generation Camaro/Revell1967CamaroSS396002_zps639e16b7.jpg I have an original AMT '67 Camaro Grille, but I have a car for it to go on. http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg59/RonHamilton/First Generation Camaro/67CamaroSS3.jpg And like Snake 45 wrote, the MPC '68 is not the same as an AMT in shape. http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg59/RonHamilton/First Generation Camaro/mamameeting1192013059.jpg
  10. You are bringing out My '70's show with that Eldo. I love the silver. I was able to get all of JoHan's '70's Eldorados to build, including the elusive '74 and '75. My big problem is painting, as I cannot paint in the house. I have to get back on the '71 as it is so close to being finished. That Nomad and Jag are sure tobe beautiful when done.
  11. I really like the mid '60's Rambler Americans. That one looks like a formidable restoration, and I know you are up for the job. I have the '64(unbuilt), '65, Hardtop turned into a convertible) ,'66 Hardtop, and a '66 Convertible, that was this... and where it is now Fortunately, the person I got it from gave me some pieces from the S/C Rambler. I filled the hole in the hood, and recreated the center bump. The original '66 hood is not available in resin, but I bought a few S/C Ramblers for donors while they were cheap. If you need a 6 cylinder engine, Replicas & Miniatures Co. of MD has one in their line. All of mine will be 6 Cylinder Cars..
  12. I haven't seen this thread in a while. I cleaned up and rebuilt a lightly glue-bombed '67 Ambassador, and I have a '66 American Hardtop that I am working on to go with my convertible.
  13. I may have to do a series of '60's Fords in the near future. I have a '63 Ford Galaxie XL Convertible calling my name. Having owned a couple of them, and growing up with Dad's and my Uncle's Cars, I am a Top Down kind of guy.
  14. Thanks Steve. I hope to put the primer on it tomorrow.
  15. I finally got to take some pictures of the Wildcat as it sits today. I made the decision to do the car with a vinyl roof. I used 1/2 round styrene rod for the mouldings, and 1/4 round rod for the seams. I am going to remove the wire wheels and replace them with a set of Buick Chrome Wheels. The car is going to represent a Super Wildcat (425 V8 with 2-4 Barrels), 4-Spped, Red Car, Black Roof, Red Interior.
  16. Very nice!!!!
  17. The car is quite handsome, but you need to add the trim to the vinyl roof to give it some depth.
  18. I like where you are going with this one. I have a black on black '62 in my collection, just like the one Perry Mason Drove, except that mine has baby moons on chrome reverse rims mounted on white stripe tires. If you would like I can photograph it and post it.
  19. Stunning!!!!!!
  20. I like it!!!!!
  21. Very Nice!!!!!
