Modelhaus resin ' 61 Galaxie Starliner Finished 08/16
Ron Hamilton replied to smellyfatdude's topic in WIP: Model Cars
That looks really good. My Grandmother had a '61 4 door sedan in a color close to that. I may do a model of her car, as I have a derelict convertible and a derelict coupe. I have to make a decision between the sedan and a Country Squire wagon. -
Very nice!!!

Very nice work Gene.

Tommy, I love where you are going with this one. I have a similar project in the queue, but my major problem is what color to paint it, and whether or not to go with a vinyl roof. I know yours will be a knockout, judging from your past builds.

1969 Ford F100
Ron Hamilton replied to Ron Hamilton's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks. I forgot to mention that. I have seen so many of them over the years, and there is a F250 a few miles from my house. A silver blue Ranger. I might get a closer look at it, as I may do a build of it. Thanks for the comments! -

Vicious!!!! I would be very afraid to ride in that. -
My trucks!
Ron Hamilton replied to oldcarfan's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I like them all, especially the '60 Fords. A friend of mine had acquired a Red and White '59, which he had some serious plans for. Unfortunately he died of cancer before he could get to work on it. Thanks for the memories. -

1950 Chevy pickup
Ron Hamilton replied to Anderson_15_'s topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Very Nice. I just picked one of those up today. I do not have a clue as to how I am gong to do it. -
Same here. He was a closet builder, and would not admit it. I got a couple of models form him as a kid. I never saw him work on them. He just handed me the car. No box, no leftover parts. I didn't even have any input on the build, but I was happy to get them . I think he was happier to get the models I built of his cars when I was an adult, and gifted them to him.

I finally finished the Mobieus/Model King 1969 Ford F100 Pickup. I did this one to represent what I would have bought back in the day if I had the funds. I like them shiny, with all of the available chrome, but not necessarily the top of the line truck. This one is the Custom Cab in Royal Maroon, Black interior, with the Bright Body Side Moulding Package, Whitewall Tires, Mag Styled Wheel Covers, Aftermarket Below Eye Line Swingaway Mirrors, Painted Rear Step Bumper, Class III Trailer Hitch, and... Ta Daaaa!!!!!! A Special ordered 428 Cobra Jet V8 Engine, mated to a C-6 Automatic Transmission, and a Traction Lock Rear Axle with 3.70 Gears, for that extra ooomph. To be frank, I read the reviews and looked at the other builds on this kit. Some of comments, I agreed with, and I made corrections where I could. Some I have to take with a grain of salt, as the comments, while true, could not be corrected in a timely basis, and again to be frank were not worth it to me. Sure, I would have preferred the headlamp doors to be 1/16" narrower on each side, and the grille wider to compensate, as well as other little things. The plusses with this kit far outweigh the minuses, and I did not let the minuses stop me from the enjoyment I got from building this kit. The kit went together easy, but there were a couple of pitfalls during the build. I tend to pre-build my models in assemblies to check the fit, as well as for a uniform paint job. One thing I did was to install the windshield prior to painting. Big mistake, as once it is installed, it will not come out easily, as it is a tight friction fit. I had to tape it off, before I primered and painted the model. even with that, I enjoyed this build, and I am quite proud of it. I did not do a thread on this one in the "Under Construction" Section, so I will spell out the things I did on this one. On the bed, the rear finned lower mouldings were missing, so I scratch built them. Inside of the bed, there are some unsightly feed tabs, which would have taken a while to eliminate through sanding and filling. I had some smooth brass sheet that fit perfectly, once I cut them to length, and that saved a lot of time. The Paint is Tamiya Maroon Lacquer, which is a close match to Ford's Royal Maroon. The wheel trim is from Missing Link Resin, which is the '68/69 Ford Mag Wheel Covers, which I corrected the centers, detail painted, and cut down to fit the kit's wheels. The tires had the whitewall added with a gel pen. The Trailer Hitch is a Resin Item from Scenes Unlimited, fitted to the truck. The 428 Cobra Jet/C-6 Transmission Combination is from the AMT '69 Cougar Kit. I notched the Oil Pan, and it fell right in. The Air Cleaner came from an AMT '66 Ford Mustang. I think this is a fine model kit, in spite of the negative commentary. Thank You Mobieus, and Thank You Dave Burkett for this version of the kit. And before anyone can ask for it, The Excellent Dog-Dish hubcaps, and the 6 Cylinder engine have a home in a Future Ford Econoline Cargo Van Project (Plumber's or Electrician's Truck)

MPC '67 Vette “Night Stalker”--A "Gitter Done" Slump-Buster
Ron Hamilton replied to Snake45's topic in Model Cars
I like your build Snake. I've always liked those old MPC Corvettes. As a matter of fact, I have an unbuilt MPC "Streaker Vette", which was one of my favorite models when I was a teenager. I loved the stance, and the slot mags in the kit. Those Corvettes are among my favorite cars, and I have quite a few kits of them. -
I remember my first build, a Pyro 1/32 Alfa Romeo. Mom helped me with it, as it required glue. It had no chrome and everything was white, including the tires. Mom thoght it would spice things up if we added some color to it, so we got some of her red nail polish and did it up. What a mess!!! I was so proud of it.

Would you just Love to see this? I would
Ron Hamilton replied to Sledsel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My Dad had a black '68 Country Sedan when I was in High School. The fellas called me "Pallbearer" when I drove it every once in a while. It was great when I had the whole gang in it the first Xmas after graduation. We went to see the movie "Silver Streak", and we went to one of our favorite rib joints, which by the way is still in business. Those seats in the cargo hold came in handy, and that's the only time I used them. That thing was a gas guzzler, in fact it burnt more gas than Dad's Continental Mark IV. -
I have been silent on this matter. First and foremost, I am a Black Man, living in America, with relatives born and raised in South Carolina, they and I have seen more than our fair share of racism. I read topics on this board that relate to modeling, and I try to steer clear of the subject of race. Most of my modeling buddies are White, and I have a deep friendship with some of them. Personally, I have no problem looking at a Model of the General Lee Charger, especially of a well built one like the subject of the thread in question. I watched the show on TV since it was first aired, and I enjoyed watching. I have several '69 Chargers in my collection (MPC and Revell), and at the time, the only way one could get a model of a '69 Charger was a Dukes of Hazard kit, I bought one, and built it as a regular '69 Charger. I bought a couple of the Monogram "Pro Modeler" Chargers, which had several those flags on the decal sheet. Was I offended? No. I could not have cared less, as I would not use them. Would I build one as the General Lee? No. I feel that all of this hoopla going on concerning the display of that certain flag had been simmering for several years, and came to a head after a particular gruesome current event. The Confederacy is an important part of American history, and there is a proper place for its symbols. There are some who hold on to those symbols as the proud sign of their heritage, and that is perfectly fine. And there are some people who display them as a dig to people of different ethnicities, and you know who you are. I have no problem with "Dukes" models displayed on the board, and I hope that the builders can still have the opportunity to display them. When I see the flag here on the board, other than on a model, my blood boils. It brings back bad memories, and I could care less about "Political Correctness". There are those who display those symbols otherwise to let us know where they are coming from. And that is my $.02.

I am going to use one of the Class III trailer hitches on my Moebius F100. I plan to do it tomorrow before I paint the chassis. It's the best one I've seen in scale.
