Bitchin’ drag combo! Just imagine the looks as that rolled into the local strip. ? Love the two-tone paint scheme and the wheel & tire swap on both.
-
Turned out freakin’ sweet! I especially like the chassis with the ‘41 Willys front end and ‘65 Chevy II rear axle set up. This might be the first kit-bash of those new Moebius parts on the forum?
-
Love it! Excellent color choice and the back-dated wheels are perfect.
-
I had never heard of the original full scale dragster. Talk about an engineering puzzle! Great job on your scale replica. Must have took some thinking to bring it all together!
-
That’s absolutely bad ass!!!
-
Looks great from here! These Custom Car Parts sets were more like suggestions, not so much specifically engineered to go together. ?
-
Looks WICKED with the chop and one piece front clip! Also really dig the orange and white color scheme. Very cool!! And I remember that well! (That is from the 90’s when I went through all of my dads back issues one summer. I was still in diapers when the article came out! ?)

The evil twin...mid 1960's type BB/SR drag racing street roadster...

This is killer, Tim! Very authentic looking and I especially like the fade paint. Also dig that last 3/4 rear shot with the headers coming down and quick change poking out. Looks ready to conduct business! (I also had a laugh that you got complaints for using too many sources for your kit-bash projects. Sorry folks, that’s the name of the game! ?) -
MPC Flip Nose '57 gasser converted to......well, a gasser.

Excellent work! This is now my favorite rendition of this kit that I’ve ever seen. Love everything about it and especially the injected Pontiac and car name / graphics. Thank you, also, for your commentary on Gassers. I’m no authority but the one thing that kills me (full scale or model) are the exaggerated nose-bleed stance some people build into them. That’s not how they looked back in the day!!! -
I just love this! It has the right look from every angle. Stance, proportions, wheels & tires. All on the money. I also like the restraint you showed such as the simple single carb small block. Looks like it would be a nice driver.

Wow, the chassis’ and interiors look so nice and clean! Fantastic color choices throughout!!
-
RAD!!! Looking forward to following along. Whatever it takes you have to keep the slammed mock up stance.

Wow does that body look WICKED!!! -
I’ve looked and looked and fail to see any flaws? Glad you shared it cause the consensus is that it’s awesome! Looks like a Weesner painting brought to life. Absolutely killer, RRR!!!

'32 Chevrolet Cabriolet....Traditional-ish...Update 7/23/22

I like the black steel wheels and whitewalls with satin paint. If it deep shiny black then I’d say the Americans. -
This goes to show that I don’t give this kit enough credit. It clearly builds into a great looking model and you’ve proved it x2. They’re both very well done and this is an excellent study in how the same pile of parts can be put together into two vastly different looking cars. My preferences lean me towards the red Coupe with less chrome, cast finishes on the engine accessories and black walls.

Looks really good on that wheel and tire set! I don’t care for those front tires on the Willys they come in (or under other early cars) but they look appropriate under the 60’s Nova body. Any fit issues with the slicks? They’re quite a bit wider than the piecrust slicks in the Nova.

This is a bitchin project! Love it! One of my go-to’s for raw aluminum is Tamiya Silver Leaf with their Flat Clear. Check out the intake and oil pan in the picture below.
-
Nice! I swear I’ve seen these B400 bodies advertised as fitting the Monogram 1:24 ‘32 Roadster kit so that may be why you had the fit issues…?
-
I do believe this is the first time I’ve seen a picture of those Maple Leaf parts actually mocked up on an engine. They are all killer individually and look awesome as a set. That engine deserves to be uncovered whatever it ends up in.

'32 Chevrolet Cabriolet....Traditional-ish...Update 7/23/22
Dennis Lacy replied to Plowboy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Off to a great start, Roger. The stance is perfect and you can’t go wrong with a small block. I’ve had this kit a couple of times and think it’s neat but always end up trading them away. Your project makes me want to find another… ? Did you ever see the one that @tim boyd converted (quite nicely) in a Roadster Pickup street rod? Your earlier mock ups with the American 5-spokes reminded me of it. -
Two is (usually) better than one. Should make for a killer pair. Maybe the simpler one could be a bit of a Resto Rod with the flathead and wire wheels from the ‘32 Sedan…
