  1. Wow, another fasinating read Art. I bought BOTH the Auroura and the AMT Studebaker Avanti kits back when both were almost new on the shelves . Then too, I also bought the 53 Studebaker as well. I've always admired the "sprit " at Bonneville every year and Studebaker cars were MAJOR players in the sport . I do remember going back and buying a second 1953 Studebaker to do a stock version as I wanted to have both versions . The Avanti soon beame a 1964 ( Late production ) as I wanted the squared headlamps . The Auroura was much more shall we say "fidly" in it's construction and the AMT went together far better . As for other Re-issues that I've not seen in several years , I'm curious as to weither the tooling even still exists . One such example is the old Annual/ Craftsman 1959 Mercury Montclair convertable . I know this kit saw a re- issue in the middle 1970's and then, poof , gone .
  2. Richard, you could teach several here as to how to make a garage look realistic . I've been a member here for years and I'm always seeing these "Super Sanitary garages ". I dunno about you , but the only time I ever saw a clean shop was when I visited Mr. A J Foyt's place years ago .

    Most interesting !
  4. I'm for anything NOT a 32 Ford or 57 Chevrolet ................
  5. Bill, to clarify things , M P C and ( Former AMT employees ) made the 1928 Ford Model A sedan for AMT in 1965. MPC was formed with former AMT personnel . The 1928 Ford sedan became the 1929 Ford Woody / Roadster Pick Up with a Stroker Mc Gurk character in 1967. Making a 1929 Ford sedan shouldn't present a problem. Just use a Revell 1930 Model A body and mate it on a MPC set of fenders , chassis running gear .
  6. That truck would be a hit if someone could restore it , STOCK drive and all. I nearly bought a used Holmes crane just like that in the early 1990's myself . The problem was a lack of some needed pieces ...................
  7. I quit using Balsa wood several years back. I guess it's O K for a airplane , not for doing any kind of structure . Bass wood and Foam Core . Both are available from Michael's art stores ............
  8. I would say so. Even though it's 1-24th scale made it look way larger than a comparable 1955 Bel Air , this kit went together well and looked nice on a display shelf .
  9. I'm enjoying ALL of the great posts here , great comebacks too !!!!!!!!
  10. My son has done some snap kits . he enjoys the way a particular contest we always look forward to attending in Norfolk Virginia every year .. I can second his judgment as the TAMS club is always hospitable and they do a fair job in junior categories ...........
  11. Hey, I had a 69 Delta 88 Convertible . GREAT Car , so so styling though. The trim parts were impossible to find as no one ever took an interest in re popping them. As long as it could work in a Cutlass or an Impala , weeeeeeeeeeelllll, there was some interchange . I'd love to have a model of the car. That's one resin Item I COULD get excited over !!!!!!
  12. By that time , summer is in FULL Blast down in Phoenix ...................
  13. Bill, wasn't a portion of Rt 66 snowed over , at least in Texas ?
  14. A fine start ....................
  15. Well , the difference for me and my dioramas is the fact that I do models of buildings that either "Were built " or still standing . With that, I'll travel to get copies of building permits , copies of plans , ( provided they're on file ). and photographs of the building in it's lifespan . I also solicit interviews of people who have "First hand " recollection of a building .
  16. This one gets my vote ....................
  17. I guess parallel leaf springs and rear coils . It really depended upon the automobile manufacturer ..............
  18. Well Box art models were done here once . How about a Back Stateside theme ? This could include aircraft used at the end of WWII, pre and post war cars , 1946-8. I did the Amoco projek using this idea ..............
  19. Great Hype if you buy into box art . O K , it was the first time we saw the AMTronic kit since 1969.
  20. See the 1928 Lincoln out front in Maroon, yes that one . That's my choice .
  21. Whars de Studebaker station wagon ?
  22. David , one thing to remember in doing bodies for any Ford Model T or Model A is the fact that most employed Square edges as opposed to bodies of the Early Ford era , 1932-53 . This makes for building a specialized body a lot easier than the newer trucks . Then too, one can gain valuable scratch building experience when starting on such a project . Once you've gained confidence , then take on the newer trucks...........
  23. Now that's a GOOD trick. Most times the blade would slip causing considerable damage !
  24. Art, I bet the same questions were asked on the 55 Chrysler too !
