  1. Oh those wheels!!! But interesting model for sure. Glad it arrived finally.
  2. Well, I have Magnum 500s from my 68 & 9 Chevelles that will be perfect. Or Revell will include them because they are already in the tooling catalog. I'd rather have the other choices. 2 sets of non magnums would be great Can they use one of the Torino chassis (70 or 74?) for this one? If so, then that part is already done as well. Just need body, engine, interior. Maybe? IDK. Doesn't matter - I will probably go for it. They should have a fairly accurate engine too right? So parts bin all but the body and interior. Kinda like the real cars were back in the day. then more variations from that platform - notchbacks, Cougars, Torinos, etc. We can complain about them, but we'd have modern kits of those body styles. I'd rather have a Mach1 - was almost my first car till my uncle told my mom it would be too fast. So I got a 73 Grand Prix with a 400, 4 bbl, duals. It would would one wheel peel till you let out of it. Roadkill style burnouts. That's my Mach1 story. lol
  3. Nice scores for Payson and Tim.
  4. I didn't discover that either. Saw it somewhere - probably on here.
  5. Now THAT"S a Coke kit I'd buy.
  6. Nice! I did the orange one years ago.
  7. Wow, those have a LOT going on. Looks good to me.
  8. GReat job with a kit that can be tough. I have one finished and another in progress somewhere.
  9. Looks great! Wish I had another to build now.
  10. Nice! I think I built the clear body version. Those look great!
  11. That's NICE! That's a wishbook model room for sure.
  12. I use Testors just because I have quite a bit of it. Mostly in the jar. I can brush or airbrush it. One thing that's cool is you can dull the whole part. If you want to keep an edge chromed or some little detail, you can gloss clear over it and get the chrome look back. I will also "prime" chrome parts with dullcoat so I can paint with metallizers or other paints and it covers better than going straight over chrome. To me anyway.
  13. That looks mighty fine. I f you really don't like it, send it my way! Looks great to me!
  14. Lots of LHS discussion going on. I owned one for a while in early 00s. We could match WM pricing on AMT Ertl stuff if I could justify buying directly from them and they were GREAT to deal with then, when it was RC/Ertl. But, I couldn't always justify a case of a particular kit or diecast. And the internet wasn't the biggest place to buy/sell. We did some diecast on ebay. I tried to keep all the Testors paints and BMF and magazines. The things we all buy. We carried Action NASCAR stuff as well. Our demise didn't come from the internet or large retailers. We worked to build a nice local base and succeeded to a degree. What happened to us is that our main customer base was mill workers in the area. Then the CAFTA agreements sent the textile jobs away. And we still hung in there. But the final straw was one of the holdout mills closed. Then we lost a huge chunk of our customers because they were afraid they would lose their jobs or did lose their jobs. And you can't eat model cars or properly heat your home with a closet full of models. I mean in the space of a month we went from growing to stagnant and it just never recovered locally. There are several former customers on here and I want to take a moment to thank them for the support they gave our tiny little shop. Thanks. We tried. We really did. And yes we had customers then that would wait for orders. Things are completely different now. I would try to support my local if I had one. We will try to support HL when they open. But it's an internet age. If you have a brick & mortar, you are going to have to have an internet presence or lose sales to the internet. And you're just not going to close every sale anyway. Just my thoughts.
  15. I had a CMW 49 Mercury fall apart. I also had an Ertl 68? Chevelle SS 396 that had issues from day one. Bubbles in paint. It never got worse, but I saw others on eBay that had similar issues. Seemed to be the Black ones.
  16. Thanks. It's testors extreme lacquer root beer. It's not a perfect match, but I like a lighter shade than OEM so it looks close indoors. And I needed something different. This is only my second brown car. I was thinking gold but couldn't find one I liked at auto parts store.
  17. Well here it is. Not perfect, but straight outta the box.
  18. Thanks but not necessary. As I said early, this kit has no emotional bond. I flashed the paint in the dehydrator and have already repainted it with a can of green from 1994. Duplicolor emerald green. It's probably going to blush due to humidity, but whatever. I'll put pledge on it and be done with it. Probably won't go on display work my cars unless it turns out really spectacular. The white ideas was to see if the DG paint would block the red. Now we know.
  19. Well, the Miracal experiment ends. A coat of flat black for primer, then white gloss does not block red. Spray conditions are 75 degrees with 70% humidity. The white went flat, probably due to humidity. Label says less than 60% humidity. No big deal to me as I want to use Pledge for final clear. I'm thinking I may paint it green now work some old paint I have when this cures properly.
  20. That was tongue in cheek because the color is not accurate for real ones.
  21. I keep my purple stuff in a gallon ice cream bucket. Keep the lid on it all the time. Always ready for whatever I screw up.
  22. Nice conversions. Thanks for sharing.
  23. And that's when I ask myself is it worth starting again or will I be able to live with it when it's on the shelf.
  24. I sent you a PM.
  25. Repaint in a solid blue? Then blue/gray interior. I really didn't want to like the C8, but am being swayed over to it. I watched a couple Cleetus MacFarland vids of his new blue C8 this morning. Lots of interior shown in those. And 11.3 quarter mile times with 3 different drivers. His girlfried turned the best time, like an 11.35 and had never run a drag strip before. All thre runs were 11.35, 11.36, and 11.37 at 117 and change - pretty consistent, no matter the driver. And only like 300 miles on the car. 0 - 60 of less than 3 seconds? Wow. I had a motorcycle that quick once. It's impressive to feel. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
