HA! I thought about the "skinning cats" analogy but figured I might offend someone. LOL. And yep, I've learned some things, I've been chastised appropriately, and am moving on with more "skills" maybe. Or at least more tools to consider.

I ran out and it's not available anymore like it was. No LHS. So I have been using hte remainder of a headlight polishing kit's polish. Seems pretty tame. And works. I usually use whatever I have on hand. And pay the price sometimes.
-
THat's what I used to use. And it will eat enamel off, especially red testors.

Thanks for the compliments. I have an idea for another build to see if I can replicate the metal finish again.

Haven't decided yet. I have used silver sharpie, BMF, and Molotow in recent past. Usually involves touching up each color several times afterwards no matter what to get it to look best I can do. This one doesn't have a lot of edge to touch without touching adjacent surfaces.

I'm still happy that there is diuscussion of various paints and primers going on here. Shows that there are still plenty of options to be had. Thanks all for your contributions.

Yep, thanks. It's going to be okay. Not a contest or show finish,. but will look okay on my shelf for my collection. I have a thread in the WIP on the 69 SS396 car, but no body photos yet. I'm working on the GT4 which is also working out. There are photos of where I was Sunday on the GT4. When all is done, I'll coat them both with the Pledge/Future stuff and should be shiny enough. Thanks for checking in. I have an idea about a cheap paint build too. May try it and see how that turns out. We'll see.

Did you miss that spot? Easy to not get complete coverage at bottom of bodies.

Use the wax AFTER the decals. I liked the Treatment wax - is it still available?

Looking great! -
Like the old days where the hp was underrated to get by the insurance companies.

Is that 1/43? Nice model. Looks like it is tiny, no matter the scale.
-
IS the Santana a continuation of the old Audi Fox/VW Golf/etc platform? Looks like it. Longitudinal engine, basic body design.

And if I ever see the Fathom Green, I will let you know. I would like it, but you been searching for years. I wondered about the stripe myself.

Audi Quattro Rally x2

Nice! I lusted after the real car back in the 80s. Not so much after owning an Audi Fox. lol -
I built this one when it came out. I still like it - looks better on the shelf than any of the Camaros I built during that time. Kept the T/A, sold the Camaros. Yours look great!

I just remembered I have the first Gear 1/25 69 SS396 here in my office. This is how the rear SHOULD fit together. And these wheels are correct other than they need the spokes painted. I am going to try to get the wheels off this one and use them on the kit. I found a nice set of Keystone Klassics I can use on the diecast maybe. NEed a set of big & Littles since FG seems to have put airshocks on this one. Think I'll use my extra black side stripes on this one as well. A lot of you will hate me for this, but this diecast is pretty much nicer than the kit. No you don't get to build it. But for a display piece, the diecast is pretty dang nice and around same cost as the kit, $24 + shipping from FG. And you get opening doors, hood, and trunk lid. Headliner with modled in shoulder belts. However, I did want to build the 69 kit and am doing so. One of my favorite builds for years when I was younger was the AMT kit. Mine was white plastic with testors constantly yellowing clear, hand painted red are bottom, red interior, mags. I had no idea it was so inaccurate and just built because it was a 69 Chevelle. I'll do a comparo of the kit, this diecast, and the Johnny Lightning 1/24 diecast when I finish the kit. It will be in the diecast section.
-
Wait, never mind. LOL
-
Build on brother. Seems like I had an AMT kit of that one? Maybe 2? Might still have them somewhere. Hmmmm. I also have th First Gear diecast 68, whcih is a pretty nice model on its own. I'll be interested in comparing this car with the diecasts I have of it.

My first issue GT 350H decals would NOT work with any solvents. I ended up using vinyl stripes on the top. I think I got the side stripes on. Good luck working out the cowl. It's a great kit when finished.

Good points. I used to be there with the Duplicolor. I will be studying on this when I get to the next build. I'd sure like to fin those three kits I wanted to do last year that I put up and can't find now.
