  1. Looking great!
  2. Oh heck yeah. I remember hearing a Ducati for the first time. A 90° V engine of any number is so much sweeter than a Harley. I bet that was a cool car. I got my kit yesterday. Ordered the indycals white/red motorcraft set. I can start work and just work towards the white body till the decals come in if they take a while. Can't wait to get really started on it. Maybe tomorrow...
  3. I got behind a street version mustang this morning that has all the same elements as the racer. Taillights just look red. Not a lot of black divider showing up anyway. Yours look fine
  4. Looks good. Hope it works.
  5. Probably. But I don't think that's what they actually did.
  6. According to those links, there was NOT a 1:1 tach option. I think I was unclear. The Revell decals are incorrect per that Chevelle page. But that's not to say there isn't a center tach option. I don;t know - I just noticed that in looking over the decals. Should be a clock and tach goes in right hole with gauges surrounding it instead of idiot lights. I'll build what is supplied; no one will notice it that sees my models.
  7. SCORE!
  8. SO I have mine in my hands. Have been through the instructions because I figure spreading the whole kit over my desk is not appropriate while the boss is here. This won;t be a big thing to most of us, but the color callouts are inccorect in several places. You *might* have a blue carb (2 letter Cs) if you follow them. And two different colors of exhaust manifolds Shift ball color, H, doesn't exist in the instructions and surely the boot is not silver? As I said, not a big deal to those of us that rarely look anyway. But to some folks, it might cause some consternation. I did go through and mark DECALS, because I inevitably end up with some extras I missed. This kit has an extensive sheet. The gauges would seem to be inccorect as there was not an option fo rhte tach in teh center hole. It was either a CHEVELLE emblem or the clock. http://chevellestuff.net/1969/69ss.htm. No one will ever know or see what is in there. And there is a note to carefully align the end caps to fit with bumper. Here is a reasonably good reference page with color possibilities and some detail stuff. http://chevellestuff.net/1969/index.htm My idea for Gold exterior and gold interior was not possible. BUT black outside with either of two greens interior was. Just not on my kit. ?
  9. And when you looked closely, there is a layer of copper or brass under the chrome. Looks absolutely great when you can get it trimmed etc correctly. And you can shine and polish on it til the cows come home. The 63 Nova was the one that gave me fits getting hte nubs trimmed on the interior trim I think it was.
  10. Never mind, someone else said same thing I was going to.
  11. I like the Testors Model Master flat black as well - it has a slightly gray tint to it. Nice variation. At least in the bottle I have now. Like others have said, can't have too many shades of black. And last night, I bought another can of cheap $1 flat black spray can at Dollar General. Big can too. Works great for a base coat or fogging.
  12. I've never had good luck with that so I didn't mention that. At that size, I'll probably lose the first 48 I make. I might try it though. Pony Express is supposed to be bringing my kit today (small town life). I HAVE to have stripes. Just me. If it had factory lace graphics, I'd have to use them. LOL
  13. Ok, I'm looking at this instead of working. The SML is too high as previously stated. Top of it should be slightly below level of lower lens divider. Which would let hte stripe go lower. Use the decals instead of molded SML I guess? To give it dimension, maybe leave it on the decal paper, paint/marker the edges, and glue to side of car. Or apply to a think piece of sheet and apply. The end cap may need a tiny amount of plastic added at bottom of sides to match the edge of taillight lens housings. And of course, everything has to be fit together carefully to start with. file and scrape to fit as best possible. Cut rear bumper off and sand to close gap. Glue it in. Then, looking at photos on page 2 here, (side view), get all that in place and gently taper the bottom of rocker up to match bottom of bumper. Looks like the sample on P2 has almost parallel character line and some 1:1 photos show a slight taper at the rear. Using a ruler to photo on screen (no particular scaling) shows a measurement of 15 at the rear wheel opening and about 12.5 where it meets bumper. And it is a model. If you fudge it, it will be okay. Not like the Chevelle gods are going to rain heckfire down on you. I've got a Johnny Lightning that I'm happy with and the vinyl top on it is horrendous. Bottom profile on c pillar is curved downward instead of upward; stripe runs through door handle (might can use the black set from this kit on the diecast... I *think* I can make the kit work to suit me.
  14. Good deal. Glad that worked out.
  15. That rear bumper looks like it's going to need some help.
  16. Where are all the build ups? Dangit. I don;t have mine. Small town life means I have to wait for the online seller to come to town so I don't have to pay shipping. LOL. HPI guy (chris) can build about anything to a presentable state of "what's in the box" in a couple days. I've seen his review but keep expecting some buildups on here. So we can all see the real parts and fitment.
  17. I think I built the Tamiya clear body version GT1 and the two revell versions back in the day? I don;t remember what they were and they are sold off now.
  18. Finished mine up yesterday. Not as nice as Gene's so no need to do photos. Only thing I did differently ( maybe?) was coat the chrome and bumpers with some black Detailer fluid. To me, it gives kit chrome a bit more depth and realism. Especially on mine - the chrome didn't look as good as Gene's- it was very "light"
  19. THat is an intereting comparison. Is the CMW actually larger than the Mint car? Or is it the angle of photo? THe silver painted trim is the big giveaway it's not a much more expensive replica. Front buimpers are a bit heavier handed thant he mint counterparts. but new vs new pricing makes the difference in all that. Still a very nice replica that has a LOT of potential. I like the body color better, might have preferred a white cove? Idk, it's pretty nice like it is. THanks for comparing them. Hobby needs all this we can get.
  20. Auto World really does make nice cars and they try to keep everything true to 1/64, instead of hitting a standard box size. 1/64 has a lot things not available in 1/24 with realistic details. I should have lowered it just a touch though.
  21. I dodn't even think about the insurance costs. But yeah, I guess so.
  22. Another nice set. Wish they'd do the sport coupe truck in a silver. My uncle had that one. From other sets I have several of these in other colors
  23. Nice car sets. I had a rich acquaintance wanted the stealth RT turbo when they came out. But they were asking so much over retail, he told them he would but a viper before he'd pay for the stealth. He still has his first year Viper
  24. Didn't get this today, but finished detailing it today. My dad had this car, 76 coupe DeVille. Auto world 1/64.
  25. LOL Days of thunder. My dad managed a Hardee's and made sure I had several sets of those cars. I still got em if anyone can't live without a set or two. And I think we all collected NASCAR for a while. I have a bunch of 63 Galaxies and 62 Pontiacs from RCCA. In their little boxes still. And I have a later Marty Robbins Charger I think, if you need it. Be glad to send it to you. Also, PM me anything you might be looking for. I have a LOT of stuff.
