  1. Thanks, everyone. I wanted to do something different and feel like I succeeded. And that a lot you like it just makes it even better.
  2. Oh yeah, I'd never be able to get that if I were trying. And probably never again.
  3. The Delahaye is on its way to another member here in Canada. I just couldn't take the frustration anymore. I hope he will finish it in some fashion.
  4. That is so awesome! Hard for me to imagine not putting it all together though.
  5. Love it! First car I remember to this day was the 64 chevy taxi. My grandma used to let me pick out a new boxed car every week when she got her hair done. Place across street from salon had them. Beautiful collection you have there.
  6. So this Tamiya Morgan kit has all kinds of potential. Since they are custom built, can be any color I can dream up. Well.... I painted it with a testors extreme lacquer that was a beautiful dark gold on cap. Couple test appears and it looked different. Shook it more. Figured let's just see... Well it was bad. So... I pulled out a can with a date of 1994. Emerald green metallic. It's a big can of auto touch up. Like they used to sell. Don't know what brand cause I've used the can to hold other bodies and painted over the label. Probably duplicolor. That's better. But let's add some shine. Clear coat. Testors one coat. Well, it starts bubbling up. Dangit... So I had a mess. Into the purple pond. For a couple months and the green is NOT coming off completely. Well.... Since I'm on this dirty model kick.. The testors came out like old metal after being in people stuff. Couldn't ask for a better old metal finish. Morgans may be aluminum though? Can't be helped. Here ya go. Barn find survivor? Bet no one else has one like it. Lol.
  7. Hopefully better - Gregg doesn't have to deal with the corporate beauracracy. idk, advantages to independence vs big backing. Gregg can run his mag as he sees fit. I mean we are all still here pulling for him right? Seems as if. WE are disappointed that SA has folded yet are pulling for MCM to come back again and he hasn't actually published in a year? And that one was a couple years old material? I'm not sure on all that. I come here every day for modeling news, information, social, etc.
  8. Those are pretty nice if you like em. I can't quite reconcile myself to the design. A little too square for me. But they seem to be pretty practical so there is that.
  9. I think I'm on my third car in this thread. FEw weeks ago, I got this one almost on a lark. Was looking for a larger CUV like my Ford Edge that my son is taking on. THat thing was pretty practical. Would hold a full size stove in the back. And I put a 4' round dinging table in there and it laid flat. But II've always like the idea of smaller cars. So on a lark I sat in one of these in the showroom and was hooked. 2020 Hyundai Kona SEL Plus. The non turbo version. I only need a car to commute and run errands. For long trips we have a 2020 Santa Fe that has everything. My wife has christened this "Zippy" because it zips around so well. Fun to bomb the backroads in. It's fairly sporty to be considered a CUV. But they have to market it as such to sell to the masses? Idk. Fun little car that is perfect for what I needed it for - right tool for the job. And the reviews are correct - it is a great vehicle. Photo is identical to mine but is not mine.
  10. I ALWAYS looked forward to Larry Greenberg's column in SAE. I do hope this works out and helps brings the magazine back. Greenberg's articles from way back are still relevant today, what with all the reissues of kits. I can read about past versions of kits and have an idea of what's in the kit. One other thing, I went over to FB and checked - I have "liked" the MCM page, yet it never shows up in my feed that I remember. So I set it to show up first. From there I found a link to the MCM main page. Then there is this forum. That's a LOT of places to look. I know there a LOT of people on here that do not do Facebook. Seems as if we might need to focus on ONE resource? IDK though - there are probably FB ppl that wouldn't come here. This forum seems to be the most active part of the magazine, period. We can get years' worth of "articles" here everyday. This is probably my #1 resource for mdeling, again, period. If I have a question, I can pose it here and get answers, if there are any, within minutes or hours usually. I have met several folks who have become "friends" even if we have never met face to face. To me, it just seems that maybe MCM needs to narrow it's focus at times, to get the information to everyone. And this thread is doing just that, I guess, fo those of us who don't do FB or don;t always get FB posts that we might like to see. The FB page also doesn't have the posts that this one does - it updates the magazine itself. Right here is the stuff going on. Anyway, good luck to Larry and Gregg. I have a friend Greg, who has had back issues since we were teens. I have seen nights where I slept in the floor beside my bud's bed to help him when he couldn't move himself. I can sympathize with that nightmare of Gregg's. Hope it somehow all works out and the magazine is able to get back on track. Once that happens, I'll be glad to buy issues or subscribe if it gets regular and I hope it does - I do love a physical magazine.
  11. Dang it! Should have waited til the story was complete. Not sure which I'm more interested in - the mystery or the kit. Kit looking good.
  12. Just found this in an old thread. Platerpants XKE. I'm not smart enough to see the differences. I just want to build a race car maybe...lol
  13. Wow! Didn't know they made it in 1/24. Have had the 1/18 and think I still have a 1/43 somewhere. Just goes to show that they can all go together on the shelf. At least there is 2 tone paint on the interior. Interior looks fine from a distance.
  14. That does look much nicer.
  15. What I found in searching was a foil that required a glue base, not self adhesive. Is there a self adhesive version?
  16. I'd like to see this version or one similar. I'll have the couple probably, but think this is a great looking race car.
  17. A really nice Falcon with several iterations would be nice, especially the way Moebius does them.. And the rally car would be cool. I'm playing Dirt Rally on Xbox now and competing in the 60s class. Wish I had a Falcon instead of the Alpine, Lancia Fulvia or Mini Cooper.
  18. TEstors clear enamel turns yellow no matter what. Mine were stored indoors and mostly sun free and still yellowed.
  19. Bumping this one up. After seeing it, I have been looking and finally found one cheap enough to get. Got a new sheet of foil burning a hole in my pocket. And that's something I can do in the house in the AC. Geno, did you ever get/install the PE set? Would like to see that as well.
  20. Nice! Your Zerex car looks like mine did. All yellowed up. Cool to see these still around.
  21. I have one of these coming, so I'm watching every thread I can on getting them right. Taillights seems to be a common part that causes confusion. I'll let you take the lead. lol I use red sharpie on about all my taillights now. So if they are red on both sides, should work?
  22. I'll follow this along. I don't even have half the patience for this kind of project anymore. I'm lucky to get an hour or two a week at the bench, so I have to keep things simple enough to remember and not lose interest. But happy to watch someone else tackle it.
  23. Thanks for that blast. I think it was the first kit pictured. But that was 45 - 46 years ago. I could be completely wrong. I loved the annual kits as a kid. Never built the stock version, though.
  24. Well.... I'm just kinda speechless. LOL Looks nice, fun.
