  1. Both nice new additions, guys. THe 32 Caddy was one of my first - bought it in a bundle of dirty cars. Cleans up nicely.
  2. Very nice. If you ever can't find petroleum brand artwork, I have most of the major US brands in my PC. Might can help. Just ask.
  3. Yep, sure does. A few years difference, but a good looking truck for sure. That's like one of the Moebius versions, isn't it? But what is just as interesting to me is the gas pump. I work in the convenience store reimaging industry and that shroud around the gas pump just makes me cringe. That would be expensive to manufacture and install. I mean we're doing those Exxon Synergy things. They are called "Waves", btw. The ones that attach to columns are "Blades" and the C shaped things that are on the columns are called "koalas"Anyway, back to the Irving image.... Just wow! Our guys would have fits with those.
  4. Nice Vette
  5. I was thinking about it last night. I was working on a Tamiya Morgan 4/4. Painted the body with some Testors Extreme lacquer. The flake in that particular can were absolutely hideous. So I put down a reasonably smooth coat of automotive touch up "dark emerald green metallic" from a can with a copyright date of 1994 (LOL). So far so good. Then tried Testors One Coat Lacquer and ruined the whole job. Into the purple pond. I swear I can NOT get the hang of that clear. But my thoughts were about how much do I REALLY get out of building plastics now? And of those hundreds of kits I have, WHAT do I really want to build? I actually want quick builds at this point, where I can get fairly quick, satisfying results ( old annuals spring to mind). Or like the Morgan. It was going along great. And I am a reasonably good painter ost of the time. Til it comes to that Testors clear lacquer. That stuff really sucks the fun out of modeling for me. Which is kinda dumb. But in a couple more days, I will have the BEST 63 Corvette diecast made (according to Gramps and diecast.org). It will be complete, except for a missing white wall insert that I can make from strip plastic. And it will be ready to display and enjoy. In less than a week. I could NOT build that in a week. And for $43 shipped to my door. I would have close to that in paint and kit if I bought it today, not to mention other supplies and the time it takes - I can't build it this nice in a week. And yes, I'm slowly getting rid of older stuff.
  6. I have the blue one and yes, that is a most excellent model. Mine is missing the side curtains, but I can't imaging displaying it with those on it. Those would be for a "play" moment. I have the DM 31 Ford in the Roadster and panel truck and you are correct - those would be even better with the PE wheels. Seems hard to find models with PE wheels for cheap - like parts cars.
  7. Photos? Would love to have a look. Congrats on finding one.
  8. Update on the Caddy. Found some aluminum tube that fit the Danbury mint wheels. Cut them, drilled the chassis holes. Dash is done. Interior has some white paint on it. A few photos below.
  9. Agreed on playing and finding the hidden details. THe reviewers on diecast.org often leave out the really fun details just so you can find them yourself. DM was the better of the two at putting in extra stuff, I feel.
  10. I know a lot of us come here because we are sorta new to diecasts. I have had quite a few over the years - 1/18, 1/43, and of course, 1/64 in HotWheels and such. There are so many cars avaiable in diecast that you can't get in plastic. And I am at a point in life where it's easier to buy it complete than have to plan and build. I can still work on the other plastics I have. I could probably never buy another kit and have enough to build something. And in some cases, like 69 Chevelle, I will build the Revell Plastic instead of buy the diecast. Glad you're in this section too.
  11. Here it is. Complete or close to. I may or may not go back and do a little more, but it works for now. I need to put the wipers on and I have some printed F100 and Custom scripts.
  12. Just bought me one too, based on your review.

    Tractors

Good question. I was looking last month for a 70's or earlier era to go with my 73 Ford F100 as a tribute to my wife's dad. Found nothing and he really wasn't a Porsche kinda guy. We have several of his 1/16s. Wife wouldn't mind probably but my scale soul would irreparably damaged.
  14. OOOOF! Bad one!
  15. Like that model. Have seen it listed, I think, as a 1/24 scale or no scale and was hesitant. Glad I didn't as I don;t need yet another scale. But I do like the model, other than those unusually shaped bumpers.
  16. I am so thankful that my ex and present wife are ok with my "toy car" habit. My wife doesn't want me to have a mess in the house so I have a dedicated space - half of our 12' x 24' storage building. Can't do much in the extremem cold or heat of the year, but can still get quite a bit done. And in winter, I put all my paints in an empty ice cream bucket to bring to house so they don't freeze and have a Hobbytrayz work station I can hide in the TV cabinet in the entertainment center. I am terribly messy in my shop so it's proibably for the best. Egads at the 1/64 I have amassed over my lifetime. I find stuff I forgot I even had. It's stashed everywhere. 1/43 can be fun little models. But pricey at times. I thought I was King when I bought the Franklin Mint "cars of the 60s" set. Not so much now, but still love those cars.
  17. Oh yeah, I found it. Still be watching this one though.
  18. Dang it's looking good!!
  19. Works for me. IT's still the normal group and hopefully we'll get some new enthusiasts as we go. I'm glad they put the group back together. As for doing, I am still working. My wife and I are the only ones in our respective offices. Keeping things going and hoping that the effort helps when things open back up. We both found that we could not do our jobs from home. And our employers agreed with that. I am getting spoiled to the solitude of being the only one in the office, though. Be a tough adjustment when everyone comes back. Hope everyone else is doing well.
  20. At this point in my life, I try to get every one I can. I've officially become my grandfather. lol All he ever wanted was a Cadiallac. Managed to get a Cutlass.
  21. I think, all in all, the Danbury Corvettes are way above the Franklins. Are you brave enough to paint the exhaust? Value, value, value... Do you ever remove the China stickers? That Vette is a beauty for sure.
  22. Here is my version, built to a more stock appearance, just for reference. Wheel covers actually came off the AMT 56 Ford. But they look stock enough. I *think* the tires are Satco wide white painted and scraped on the narrow rib.
  23. Nice set of trucks. And seems as if you want newer stuff, it may have to be diecast and 1/27.
