  1. Nice Lincoln. We have the maroon, this one, and the navy blue. I like the lighter one, wife likes the darker one. Some day will try to get the white one as well. Beautiful cars.
  2. Actually looks pretty good to me. A bit of polish and it will look much better. I'd hit that with the polishing wheel in moto tool and watch the shine come up.
  3. Make sure the metal is solid if you haven't already. Only car I've ever had to crumble apart in 1/24 was the CMW 49 Mercury. If you;ve handled, you probably have an idea already. And the rear quarters look level on this one. SO it's right? Might have to look for one of these. That slope on the DM and Welly or Motormax(?) is definitely annoying if you look too much. Photo looks right on. I can never bring myself to start on my AMT Plastic kit. A LOT of work to build it nicely and I just don't get time to put into a more complicated kit anymore. Can't wait to see more of this one. Progress photos if you think about? I always forget to take complete photos.
  4. My experience is they just break, but maybe the internet will show you other techniques. Be sure to share, whether it works or not. Educational if nothing else. Thanks
  5. I'll be watching with interest and encouragement. I wouldn't take on a project like this because I know how it goes for me. But I do love to see what you guys do. And I just can't get into the FB modeling pages like I do this one. And glad it's in the diescast section. I check it every day. others not so much.
  6. Looks good!
  7. Ah, okay. I don;t remember mine that much. The body work killed me at that point in my experience. I was close, but not close as I wanted and needed to be. But couldn't they have scaled the Cougar body to fit, like they did the BOPs in the NASCAR line? I always felt those were poorly proportioned in scale. I woulda bought the Cougar. Like I did the BOP NASCARs. But thanks for the information. I did like my Mustang and Camaro builds.
  8. Yup, that's cool. Once I got into the Mint cars, I was impressed with most every car. And occasionally shake my head when they do something weird. But just imaging back in the day the assembly line to creat these things. especially to later ones with the superdetails. We wonder how to make something or how to do wsomething and someone was cranking these out daily.
  9. Glad you're back and better. Keep sharing as you go please.
  10. That blue truck looks pretty large. I'm not familiar with these in particular. I don;t know that I trust the packaging on scale anymore from any of them.
  11. While I didn't really get this recently, there were a lot of GT40s shown recently and I took a few pics of this one to add to the mix. 1/43 from Universal Hobbies (Eagle's Race probably). Outer box is long gone. But it lives safely in it's little case.
  12. I tried so hard to make this build. Failed. But it would have been a big hit with me and easy to modify the existing Mustang chassis, right? That was what I was working with. I still run across it occasionally when going through my junk stash. Loved the road racing kits. Built most of them. Great topic, btw. I got back into model building in 86 or 87 after high school. So many of these were cureent and interesting to me. And yes, generally they were pretty easy to build into reasonable replicas. I've built hte MCSS at least 4 times. And still have a nice burgundy notch and silver aero in my display. I think I have a couple unbuiilts left. Built most of the other kits on this thread. Except maybe the GTX and Thunderbrid SC. I always liked the Cougar better. It really was a good time in the hobby. We got several new issues a year from all of the companies, didn't we? We get really nice kits now but only a couple new tools a year now?
  13. Those both look nice.
  14. I've never seen this one. Can't wait to see it together.
  15. Road legends also did it in 1/18.
  16. Nice truck. Seems like many of the Studebaker truck models are painted a bright color.
  17. Good suggestions. We ended up just using the old PC with no internet access. Flash drive to transfer to new PC and server for archiving. I think I've used it twice since we started this thread so it's not a really big deal.
  18. Nice. BRE cars always stood out
  19. The 47. I have an FM 53 that works for me. The 47 would look good with my DM 41.
  20. Wow! that is a great one! I have not seen that one before and now I want it a lot. And they are kinda pricy, I see. I can wait and see if there is a deal to be had later. Thanks for sharing. Amazing the things that exist that I haven't seen yet.
  21. That looks great. Nice improvements.
  22. Nice! thanks for sharing. I think that MM Apache might fill my need for a 50's Chevy truck. Have to look for one of those.
  23. Hey John, glad to see you sharing over here as well. thanks for the Buicks. Love some BOP displays.
  24. I call them "pods" - crossovers. And I have one now because they don't do wagons and that's the closest to a wagon. Wouldn't mind a Ford Flex with woodgrain. lol But yes, a lifted wagon. Everyone has to feel "large and in charge" I guess. And they aren't even that tall anymore. My wife likes hers because it's so easy to get in and out of. No climbing or dropping in. Same getting out. Back to topic - my step dad has a Saturn Sky. That's a droip in car for sure. I'm pretty substantial, so exit involves opeining door, rolling out onto pavement and getting upright from there. LOL. Entering is a matter of aim and letting gravity do it's thing.
  25. The loose items displayed like that usually come out of a 4 or 6 pack box. Meant to sell just like that - usually pretty inexpensive, could be aimed at kids or adults. Several posters here have found them at Rite_aid drug stores in places that still have them. I used to have a Rite Aid and at times, you could get them on special and come out pretty cheap on cars. For the most part, they seem to make pretty good base cars for more detailing if you're so inclined. And can live with the scale discrepancies.
