  1. Oh yeah, I remember all that now. Yeah, it would have to be your price to get me to buy it. The paint scheme catches my eye, but the taillights and front suspension are killers on that one. THe giant dog legs are kinda funny too. Put it on a high shelf and it will look fine though.
  2. Here's my new arrivals. And an oldie I found again recently. Chrysler is the oldie. Others are new to me. Had to repair the 54 - lost a wheel in shipping. I have to get a mirror for the Thunderbird. And the Impala only came with top up. I have a Revell builtup with top down, so I may not worry about it too much. These are more examples of how much better cars can look with a good cleanup. THey weren't bad, but the chrome was a bit dull and the Impala was pretty fuzzy with dust.
  3. Nice 510. My college roommate had a really ugly one. 4 Doors. Rusty. Had plumbing pipe or conduit for tailpipe. I always think of him and how this is how he saw his car (don't we all?). I do look at these and think about buying one, but never do.
  4. What if you replaced both with shallow buckets from a different car? Might be easier to find a set in chrome? Just an idea to make it more complete. Or display where you can't see the missing part
  5. I like it just the way it is. Trucks need signs. And loads.
  6. Looks good so far. You;re confusing me with this and the other Vette. I am easily confused on these new Vettes on which is which. Can't wait to see this thing all shined up though.
  7. Wow. I'd never remembera thread I did from a year ago. Sometimes I search and find my own threads on the forum that I completely forgot. So this will be a classic Vette when you get done? Lol. It's ok. Just keep bringing it back.
  8. I have my 56 DeSoto out for some repairs and you can see the relationship in the rear quarters on that one too. Taillight shape and general shape are very much alike
  9. If you watch Motor trends hot rod garage show, they recently re did it again. Updated again. Cool car in any version
  10. For the Power Wagon, you can look for an ERTL/WIX version - usually cheaper then the Mint and nicely detailed. I bought one in December, had it at work and one of the ladies here loved it and bought it (?!). But it was a nice replica. First Gear's version is 1/30. Matchboox seems to be 1/43. So look for an Ertl version if you get to looking. Ertl does one for True Value as well I just saw on the bay. Couldn't tell if it had the winch and chains on front though. I bought it cause a friend had an M37, which was similar.
  11. I have thinned with alcohol. Not sure if it was 50/70/91 - I have all three at the bench. Have not tried to airbrush. And have similar silvering when the ink starts getting thicker. I bought a refill tube. Have only opened it once - it may go silver before I get back to using. We'll see. What I have noticed is like someone else said, the fluid has to be thin enough for the particles to turn right to make the chrome effect. And if it is right, you can usually blow on it gently and help improve the chroming effect. And yes, it works great if you pump/drip out a little pool of ink and use a good detail brush. In fact that works better for me than the hard 1mm tip.
  12. Looks great in the photos. Hard to see fine rash in listings. Mine has it all over. These always look intriguing on photos. But when I held it after buying, I was like Dang what an ugly truck. The bed is a thing of beauty. Nice effort to try to keep up with the Cameo. But that cab is so Dodge truck. Always the ugly step sister. And that is just my opinion. I have owned two Dodge trucks in my life, btw. My 84 was a clunky piece as well. Have you found a Cameo yet? And a Ford to go with them? Nice score.
  13. ROFL! Polish? I don't have patience to do much of that. This one I got really lucky on. All the stars and weather aligned for a nice paint job. Can't wait to see what you come up with.
  14. I have to take them out of package! in most cases anyway. Have to play with them and see them OUT of the package. After that, they could realistically go back. But I have to "play" with it a few minutes.
  15. LOL! Sounds like my house! EXCEPT the Hirohata was my holy grail car, so I got a pass on the divorce on that one. THe 39 is a great car. THe driver door on mine doesn't fit perfectly - something about how hte hinge was installed and I don't want to force it too much. Hope yours is perfect. And I agree completely about the 32. I love the paint, but the rest of it seemed pretty crude., I studied them and watched them and finally decided that I like my 5 plastic builtups better than the diecast and that they would do instead of a diecast. I do hsave the stock black one at the bottom of my display of 32 Fords to show the stock version along with my hot rod collection. Good scores. I'm waiting on three myself that my wife didn't initially agree easily with me buying. Usually she asks me "Do you love it?" and if I say yes, then she says nothing else. Enjoy the Hirohata - lots of finger fun there - I like the working little anti scrape wheels under the rear bumper. What a great touch!
  16. Candy Apple? Yes it wasn't an easy paint job. But also tells me that hte maroon you mentioned might be a good idea. I'd like to see that one. This is Revell plastic 68 if you're wondering and not sure.
  17. Those do look good.
  18. I think I have one in my buddy's collection, but I know nothing either.
  19. Can't wait to see it - it was so bad, I just wanted nothing to do with it at all. I polish enough turds at work - no point in doing them in my spare time.
  20. Looking really nice, even if you aren't normal... ?
  21. Thanks - I'll have to look for some. No local hobby shops anymore.
  22. I'll have to look into that one as well.
  23. THanks for the group shot in other thread. Nice to see them all and how many there are.
  24. I agree - making me look at the trucks more. Hope you got a good deal on the 57 Dodge - I woulda probably sold you mine - she's a homely thing. I love the design IDEA. however the truck mated to the car quarters is just plain weird in reality. I'm about caught up on cars I can afford - may have to move to trucks if I want to keep adding Mint vehicles. Or start spending more on them. And Tim: That is another beauty in the Bud line. Nice.
  25. Maybe this is how I can get that Suburban/panel truck... Look for the Bud instead of no markings. I do like the Bud version though... Once again, thanks for sharing.
