Those are beautiful!!! -
Both of these look nice to me. And reasonably priced as well. Great scores!

Looks good so far. I haven't seen that movie since I was a kid. Probably should take a look. I have the red version of this kit for someday.

THe way they are assembled can be very bizarre to dismantle. They are not made to be taken apart after assembly, so screws are hidden under glued in panels. Assemblies are builtin an order that may preclude disassembly. You have to do some sturdying and head scratching for sure. Not many are straightforward to take apart.

If you do the 3D printing idea, please post that process step by step. Would love to follow that through.

Thanks everyone. As "simple" as it was, if was a fun build to detail as closely as possible to our real one. It builds into a really nice replica and has plenty of opportunity for detailing. The grill alone is a perfect match for hte real one and is molded open. Like Larry Greenberg used to say in his reviews "highly recommended"

427 willl certainley shred those wires... Might be easier to represent a 289 Cobra. I think that's the real story as well. But a nice looking replica at any rate.

Wow, the difference in tire/wheel size is evident for sure. THe DM REAR suspension is set up to work - little coil springs buried in there, but it's just too stiff to function much. Interresting in the overhead shot to see the difference in the shape of hte dashes. Thanks for the comparison photos.

It is complete. Final photos in the diecast section.

The diecast.org review says the tires might appear small. They're ok I think. How does this car compare overall to that silver FM you have? Do you still have it, I should ask.

And one more photo... I wanted it to match the guitar. Paint on can lid was closer. This is okay though. Probably the only time they will be photographed together.

Well, it's done and I'm posting it here in the diecast section. Paint has some small issues. Foiling those side little chrome pieces wasn't easy. It's got several issues, but will look good on display.

So I was inspired by Gramps to get this model. So very nice. Found one on eBay with box, bought for $28 plus 13 shipping. Not bad considering how much they sometimes go for. Photos showed it missing the right rear white stripe on the tire. Figured it would be easy to make with strip. Car came yesterday. Looked it over. Nasty Dusty. I also remembered that these usually have a removable spare. Hmmm, will it have the white stripe? Why yes it does. Popped it out and into the missing groove. Turned the tire around on the spare. Bam! Done. Started cleaning. Interior was pretty Dusty so got a couple brushes, old soft toothbrush and a paint brush I use for this purpose. Brushed with a little mean green cleaner. Wiped it down with pointy swab and blue paper towel. Then swab with water on it to wipe away the residue. Ran over the engine compartment too to get the dusties out of there. On to polishing. Here is one of my polishing wheels chucked in the Moto tool. Slow speed and light touch. Go over car till you're happy. Sometimes the Polish will dry, leaving a dull spot. Wow off with moistened cloth or swab. Keep going over it till you're satisfied. I also painted the exhaust. My paint is getting thick durn it. Came out super. Put it in a case that is nowhere near as sparkly as car, but I don't want to clean this one again. Thought about selling it, but wife likes it too, so we'll hang on to it for now.

Nice stuff!

Yep. Anytime they made a second color, it usually was a little more"special" or limited. You can find the color variations in the listings at diecast.org. Franklin mint also did the same car in 2-tone blue. I have that one I in a friend's collection I'm selling for his widow. Each one is very nice.

I got my Danbury Mint 63 Vette today. Just like Gramps', but frightfully dirty. I think I'm going to write it up as it's own clean up and improve post. It has enough grunge to warrant an article. And fix that missing white stripe on tire the easy way.

Still got a ways to go on the trim. Not all in place and got to foil it as well. But thanks all.

Nice!! -
I had a WIP going. Here is the finished version. One of my most realistic builds. I put it in cars because it really isn't truck like in any way. And it's not what most ppl build, but we have a real one, so had to.

Little update. Almost there! A couple more hours and might get it done. Not much to tell other than what you see in photos.

It is the common release. Doesn't make it a bad car- they are beautiful, but they are probably one of the least expensive cars.
