Little wire gauge bits with a 1/8" shank are available at Harbor Freight , come in a pack of 20 for $6.95 ? Not sure what I paid for them , I used 20% off coupon . There are multiples of sizes in the pack , usually 2 of each . Warrior brand , Micro Carbide Bit Set , #62379 .

Buying a compressor
oldnslow replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Harbor freight has a nice little pancake compressor of 39.95 . Use the 20% off coupon and it $36 . Added an in line dryer and a better regulator ( my choice ) , does everything I need it to do . -
You're sick dude , you know that , right ?

I gave up yard work ( cutting grass and trimming ) last year , couldn't stand the heat and still breathe . Yard service does a nice job and doesn't mind when I ask for other things done . Now I'm going through radiation treatments , everything changes , you have to do what you're able to . I still do gardening , in buckets , so I don't have to bend as far over or plow ! Seems the older I get ( almost 68 ) the more I want to do , but can't . It's just life and we have to adjust accordingly , so do what you can and enjoy it .

Would this work for a paint booth?
oldnslow replied to r60man's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
John , it will do , it's just going to take a little additional work . You'll need a fan or fans of sufficient strength to evacuate the paint fumes from the booth ( probably from the bottom ) , filters mounted to allow dust free circulation ( back or top ) , a light or lights to see with ( front and top ) and figure out how you're going to keep the overspray off the inside of the glass . You my also be limiting yourself to painting one piece at a time if you don't want to open the booth until the part is dry ( and what do you do with the air brush when you're done ? ) or take a chance on overspray on the other parts in the booth ( to paint multiple parts ) and the gloves my be a problem moving your part around to be able to get full coverage with the glass being at the top , so a really secure handle would be needed . If you just want a dust free container for the parts to dry in , an old vegetable dehydrator may be a cheaper option . I built a spray booth out of a large projection tv cabinet , it's not enclosed but it works well and I probably have $40 in it . -
Looking great Bruce , I'm partial to blue/white 55s . My 1:1 wasn't quite that dark and it's a sedan .

Nice work , going to be beautiful when finished , speaking of lurking in the background , what is the 3 window you have behind the 40 ?

That's not a truck , it's a Jeep with a 4' baggage compartment . Needs a longer bed , you have to put down the tailgate to haul a dirt bike ? Really ? what little person is the back door for ? and , yes , it will be astronomically priced . reminds me of that Chevy abortion , the Avalanche , pick up by committee , yuck !

Post retirement modeling
oldnslow replied to misterNNL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah , that was my understanding of how early retirement payments worked out . I was retired by the company when I no longer fit into the Boss's son's vision of the work force ( I made too much money). I looked at the amount I'd draw if I waited to 65 and what I'd get at 62 and I would have to live into my mid 80s before it started to be a drawback . I wanted to be able to enjoy my retirement a little before getting too old to get around like I want to . I think we keep buying kits because it gives us hope of being alive to build them . -
Looks great , Bill , I'm sure the end result will be up to your usual standard of excellence .
