  1. It does cost money for the distributors (which is the business I'm in) to buy these POS'es and we're the ones that get stuck with them if/when they flop. The regular Zingers have done alright, better than I expected, but I expected zilch out of them. Let this run die, and a couple of years from now, if guys are screaming to bring back the Zingers, then pop 'em in different plastic. You're just dividing your sales to do them this close together anyway.
  2. They'd rather have you buy from your LHS, but if you don't have one, I guess they'd want you to go to Tower Hobbies, since it's part of the same corporate family (Hobbico/Great Planes) http://www.plastic-models.com/
  3. They're not due 'til the fall or winter.
  4. Can't you just chop up the names? Make a "Ken" and a "worth" or a "Peter" and a "built" and make them so they only appear when the modeler puts them together. That's how airplane kits get around Nazi Swastikas.
  5. Got the word today Round 2 is canceling their announced "Special Edition" Zingers in metal-flake plastic. Is anyone really upset to hear about this? Now if we can get Revell to make the upcoming '48 Ford Coupe un-chopped, we'll really know they're listening to us!
  6. Which Burgundy are you talking about? There's Model Master "Burgundy Metallic Red" #2705 (Bottle) or #2905 (Spray) and there's Testors' "Burgundy Purple Metal Flake" #1631 (Spray only)? The Testors color and the MM color aren't in the same ballpark, and I don't think they're supposed to be.
  7. Not yet, Revell will have one out in the fall.
  8. Here's the photo from the newsletter, I've been trying to find a bigger version, but this is a good as I can find.
  9. Get some of this stuff - Microscale's Liquid Decal Film. Brush it on the decals while they're still on the sheet. Really bad decals may need 2 coats. Test first on an unused decal or on the printed name on the margin of the sheet.
  10. I got the latest newsletter from Round 2 today with details of the new double-kit "collector's tin" boxing (or should that be "tinning"?) of the AMT Munster Koach and Drag-U-La. Here is the text from the newsletter for those who don't subscribe: I will be getting one of these as soon as they hit our building, I'll be sure to post pics here when they come in, unless someone beats me to it! edit: I guess I should add a link to Round 2's page - http://www.round2models.com/models/amt/munsters-collector-tin/amt619-02 Retail will be $42.95 edit-price went up to $49.95 for the double tin, and the kits will be available separately later, but there is no plan for a cardboard box double kit. If it holds true to the other tin releases there will be things in the tin that are not in the later boxed kits.
  11. Yep, that's what happened - I should have made a note of that in my original post. My bad, they were noted on the sheet from Revell. These were the only car models that were rescheduled, if anything changes on the next one I'll highlight it. Does anyone know if anything has been changed in the '69 Mustang? I know that kit had some issues.
  12. Say goodbye to your stock steelies and hub-caps, the age of DONKS and California Wheels has returned!!!!! Nah, I'm just kidding, really, though I did like the direction Revell was/is heading in, I wish Mr. Sexton all the best in his return to the job. I hope he's able to focus more on Product Development now and less on the day-to-day of running the company.
  13. It's looking "GOOD", but I "THINK" what this "THREAD" really needs is "MORE" randomly "QUOTED" and all-capped "WORDS"
  14. I think you nailed the colors, that looks great! Don't forget the piping that borders the dark color on the seats, a lot of restorations miss it. It's molded on the kit seats. I think this is the only pic I've found that has the exact interior of the kit, some have bucket seats, or if they have bench then they've got different door panels! Sorry I've been such a nit-picker, but the '62 Cat is one of my favorites!
  15. Oh stewardess, I speak jive! Jus' hang loose, blood. She gonna catch ya up on da'rebound on da'med side. I think this is what he's trying to articulate: From George Bojaciuk's Building and Detailing Scale Model Muscle Cars, which I think is out of print, so hopefully Klambake won't mind me sharing it here.
  16. Yeah, I've started doing some research for the one I have planned. I've noticed there's 2 "Blue" interior schemes, one has white as the lightest color, the other has a light blue/turquoise. From what I can tell, the middle blue and dashboard is matched to Ensign Blue, which is the same as Nassau Blue, so the Model Master paint may be a good starting point.
  17. There's always the "poor man's punch and die" - an appropriately sized drill bit installed backwards in a pin vise. You punch through the BMF and into a firm rubber surface - a mouse pad works, as does an eraser. You might have to try a few times to get usable circles. I used to do this a lot before I bought an actual punch and die set.
  18. I don't think the trim detracts at all from the finished model, I think it gives it a sort of "sleeper" feel. Reminds me of some of the later Ford "light-weights" with fiberglass bumpers. You might want to pick up a fresh sheet of BMF if it's been giving you problems. They just re-did the adhesive, it's supposed to be a lot better than it's been in the last few years. The new sheets say "new and improved" (or something like that) on the sticker. Make sure it's good ol' #1 Chrome, not #7 Ultra-Bright Chrome, that stuff has always stunk, and still does! edited due to accidental quote!
  19. Love it!!! And bonus points for the photo setup shot!!!!
  20. Thanks a lot for that. I have silver and gold Rub and Buff, I'll have to pick up some of the colors now. And as a failed and refomed armor modeler I have TONS of pastels and pigments!!!
  21. I know how you feel - I think!?!? As a 1:1 car I hate it, but I think Janne's doing a GREAT job building the model!
  22. That sounds about right. I haven't used any of their gloss colors,(yet) but I've used some flat and semi-gloss. I like them as an alternative to colors I can't decant (or when I don't feel like decanting) from Testors lacquer or Tamiya spray cans. They have a lot of military semi-gloss colors that might work well for vinyl interiors.
  23. They're very similar to Tamiya Sprays or the Testors Lacquers, but thicker and in a bottle! They need to be thinned for airbrushing - the Mr Levelling Thinner (yellow label) is the better all-around thinner, the regular Mr Color Thinner (blue label) can cause some wierd things to happen - like "spider-webbing" in certain climatic conditions. I think Tamiya Lacquer Thinner (yellow cap) can also be used, but I haven't tried it out yet, I have a bottle of "Super Italian Red" that's going to get used soon, and I'm going to test it out.
  24.  Reminds me of an episode of the original Police Squad TV Show, Dreben goes undercover as a Locksmith, one night the bad guys throw a rock through the shop window, changing "Locksmith" to "Ocksmith", next morning a farmer is shown waiting with his ox for the shop to open.
