It's hard to tell from the one ghosted inset picture on the box art, but I can kinda make out what appear to be typical 4-bbl carbs. Those stock Holley teapots were not known for their performance.
-
Finned Thunderbird valve covers and fenderwell headers appear to be the obvious changes. Can't tell if the intake is just the E-code dual carb from the initial sedan or something new.
-
Yes. The 57 wagons (and Ranchero) used the shorter Custom/300 frame.

Use the fenderwell headers and standard suspension and you're pretty much there. That's how I would have handled the 2 n 1 aspect of this kit, the straight-axle "gasser" as option A, and a junior stocker with Cragars or chrome reverse all the way around as option B and just eschewed the showroom stock version entirely. Hahahaha... How much you want to bet that isn't legit art work? ;-) Go back and look at the "Bent Eight" decals on the first 57 sedan box. They're not photoshopped on. There are still some functioning ALPS printers out there... It's Skill 5, the 7+ is the new hours rating they're using. They've used that black skill level box on a few kits in the past month or two, it's legit. New, but legit.

Well, if they'd used the sedan for the gasser it would have made 3 sedans in the catalog (original + Fireball Roberts'), now there will be 2 sedans and 2 wagons. And it may be anecdotal, but we've sold way more of the wagon than either of the sedans. This will do just fine as far as I'm concerned.

The '54 engines are red. '52 and '53 are gold.

They've been discontinued for a while, probably close to 2 years. I suspect the licensing agreement with Stacy David ran out and was not renewed but I do not know that for sure. Was probably only a 1-year deal.

Tamiya Spray Lacquers
Brett Barrow replied to mikemodeler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, they did have an entire container shipment held up in port. Not sure if it was labeling-related. AFAIK whatever it was has been resolved and they should be back to normal soon. We're expecting them any day now, we've already been replenished on the PS line that was also affected. There's plenty of TS-13 in circulation now, I don't have any problem getting it from any of my suppliers. -
Have you let Moebius know directly? http://www.moebiusmodels.com/contactus.html https://www.facebook.com/Moebius-Models-152580141448964/

I posted those straight off my phone without a host, just let the forum handle them.

Yes, the new one just out.

Didn't buy one (yet), but I did get to crack one open. While the body isn't polished to a mirror-shine like some other recent Moebius kits, it's not a sandblasted finish like the first '54 was. Unfortunately the texture is still present on the "wings" of the chromed hood ornament, so that will need to be stripped and smoothed and foiled or re-plated/Alcladed. The stainless rock guards appear to stand more proud of the body than on the '54 coupe but I didn't compare them side-by-side, just going off my memory of how shallow the first kit was. The only wheel choices are the wheel covers from the '52 and '53 kits and the tires are plain blackwalls.
-
I suspect the texture you're seeing is from tool marks from hand work done inside the mold and it hasn't been polished yet. This isn't a final test shot.

Round 2's Facebook just teased a pic of a test shot, looks like this will be a full-detail kit! Edit:, they replied to my comment that they are also doing a snap-kit as well.
-
Yep, they started arriving last week, along with the 2017 Ford GT snapper.

Stevens still shows it as on. Will be kit #AMT-927 Not that it makes a difference to your sentiment, but the difference in MSRP is $2 between the OAS kits and standard boxings, $36.95 and $34.95 for the Mod Rod and $30.95 and $28.95 for the Grand Prix. My experience since Round2 started doing the dual color kits (and it may just be anecdotal to our company) is that when given the choice folks* tend to choose the colored kit so I don't think it's just a cash grab to make more off the more popular option. *real world folks, not message board folks.

New Level 4 is the same as the old Level 2. Glue kits under 120 parts. There's still only 2 levels of conventional glue kits and this is the lower level. Here's the breakdown of the new skill levels: Simple "build and play" snapsSnap-tite kits with higher parts count (old Level 1)Pre-painted body glue kitsGlue kits with fewer than 120 parts (old Level 2)Glue kits with more than 120 parts (old Level 3)

Still on. These are just the newest.

It's a trick of the light. There's a highlight around the edge of the cap itself and it cancels out the highlight on the top pip and makes it look like a space. The one from the roadster is doing the same trick right in front of my eyes as type this. Oops, I responded to this from the previous page, now I see it was answered even better up this page

Quick-slapped one of these together today. Not a bad kit. Kind of a hybrid between the older style SnapTite kits and the recent simpler Build & Play kits. 28 parts., new skill level 2. Really interesting how the disc brakes were done (molded together with the axle tube and they click into the chassis plate). Windows have the black surround painted, but on the outside in flat paint. Body is actually two pieces that have been glued at the factory. Comes with mirrors (but no mirror faces) and taillights but I didn't snap them in as I plan on taking it back apart and painting it.

I tried to find a pic of Tim's '34 that used test shots of those wheels, but I can't find any on teh interwebz, so I'll have to take a screenshot of my digital SAE when I get home. I don't remember them looking funky, (in fact I sent Tim an IM asking where he sourced those wheels when I first saw the article) I think it might just be the plating making them look weird.

For details of what will (and won't) be int the box - http://www.collectormodel.com/round2-models/2554-the-inside-scoop-on-amts-1929-ford-model-a-mod-rod-reissue/#sthash.K2ypoZ1O.dpbs It is a double kit.
