Got my Lemon Twist Cuda finished, need to get some pics. Working on trying to complete my Mod Top Cuda now. I do have one of the Sox & Martin Cuda kits now and have been messy around with trying to get it painted up as well.

Newly reissued Revell BRE Datsun 510 Racecar kit
jjsipes replied to '70 Grande's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Dave Van appears to make the Bobby Allison decals for this car as well as some others. http://public.fotki.com/DaveVan51/penngwen-hobbies-decals/bre51085.html -
What did you see on the road today?
jjsipes replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This past weekend, I seen a 55 or 56 (not 100% sure which) Belvedere 4 door, Purple 69 Mustang with blower sticking thru hood, 57 Bel Air convertible, 69 Camaro, a few Corvairs, 72 Camaro RS. Harry, I've seen a White Telsa around my area for a few months now. For what it is, it's niec looking car. I myself prefer the older styling of the cars. -
Seen it in the magazine and loved it. Great work. I have enjoyed seeing your work. Please keep sharing your work with us. Great looking model.

I am greatful for the model companies molding new and reissuing some great models but, what is it with them that they seem to not be able to model the seperation line between the the front fenders and rocker panels? Is it me or does it seem like more cases then not the don't have the panel seperation molding into the bodies? It's a fairly easy scribe to do but it would be nice if they would do it. For instances look at the new 1970 Cuda that Revell has done. I am on my 3rd one (2 Stock and 1 Sox kit) and have had to scribe it into the bodies. There have been many others here of late that I have notcied that don't have all panel line molding in. It's not just Revell thats doing either.

I just noticed in the last picture there are no wheel lips around the wheel openings on the rear quarters or front fenders. Could they both be trimmed out for larger tires?

Just found this picture on the Facebook group called "Nostalgia Pro Stock". It was posted by member Tom Schlitz from the 1970 SummerNationals. Colors look very bright to me. It's a great pic to me. I'm thinking close colors to be B5 Blue, Hemi Orange and white.

Brett, I have seen those photos as well, thanks for posting them. I did forget to mention one picture I posted was of a '70 and the other a '71 Cuda, my bad. As far as Sox colors and getting help from them, Grotheer was involved in the Clinics as wel from what I have read (I wasn't around back then as I was born in '77). I thought the Sox's cars was more red then what I have seen on the Grotheer cars? The Blue does look similar to Ronnie Sox's roof color. Then if you take in consideration the diecast that was done I believe by SuperCar Collectibles, which claim that the try to make them as accurate as possible, it does appear to be more Orange then red. https://www.performance-years.com/Product/1970_Plymouth_Cuda_Pro_Stock_Don_Grotheer_2075.shtml If you look at some of his late 60's cars they look like a different blue as well. I don't if he would keep them close color wise into the 70's or not. Then I found this shot of what appears to be a 1971 Roadrunner that he ran as well.

What would be the correct colors for this car? I have seen pictures from A blue that looks close to Corporate Blue to B5 Blue? I've seen anywhere from Red to Orange as well. Any idea guys?

Now that the Sox and Martin Cuda is out, any time table on the Don Grotheer decals? -
Round 2/MPC Arnie Beswick "Boss Bird"?!
jjsipes replied to MitchP's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There's one on the bay as a partial build-up. Looks like typical MPC funny car builds that sit to high. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BOSS-BIRD-ARNIE-THE-FARMER-BESWICKS-F-C-NICELY-BUILT-NICELY-PAINTED-/360967110585?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item540b50ffb9 -
Just recieved mine and the Plymouth decal for the quarter panel is not corret from pictures I have. Revell has the letters striaght up and down where on the real car the have the typical lean to them. Looks like we will be needing the Slixx decals afterall. The Sox and Martin name and the Plymouth name doesn't really show the correct look like the Slixx decals has as well. Overall great kit alot of potenial with it. Now lets hope Revell will re-engineer a "All New Tool" Challenger. Lots of potential out of that as well.

So are you producing decals again? I know I order and recieved a resin body from you and loved it and would love to see the decals again that you offered before but, the website link at the bottom of your post says you have shut down. -
Awesome. Much anticipated kit for me. Didn't know it was to be out just yet. I just ordered mine. Can't wait for it to hit my workbench,

What would be the best source for a donor chassis with more detail for Amt's 63 Corvette kit? Rebellious 65-67 Corvette? Revell 62 corvette? Amt 62 corvette? I'm looking for something that is not a molded lump and has more detail? Will also like a more detailed 327 fuelie for it. Any ideas?

1/25 AMT "Northwind" '62 Chevy Bel Air Super Stock
jjsipes replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Decals are disappointing I guess it's good I still have my Fred Cady sheet. -
Thanks guys. Yes I know about the primer and overspray on the underside of the car but, the reference picture of said car I was using and frankly a whole lot of restored cars have the complete underside painted body color. It seems with Mopars there wasn't no exact way of doing things which is what I like about them, diffferent plants, different ways of doing a car on the assembly lines from what I have found and read. I have done the primer and factory overspray on numerous models but, I like this look on certain cars. I've been debating whether to blacken out the wheelwells or not. Don't know yet.

Made some progress on the Lemon Twist Cuda. Got the interior pretty much completed. The chassis has been painted, assembled and ready to go. Interior was painted black then cleared with Tamiya Semi-Gloss Clear. Carpet painted flat black for contrast, couldn't find my embossing powder . I just used Testors Model Master Leather for the wood, didn't try decals for console of dash woodgrain. Chassis was painted with Scale Finishes Lemon Twist then some clear shot on it. Most suspension parts were painted with Testors Semi-Gloss Black spray bomb. The rear leaf springs were coated in Testors Steel. The lower a-arms was painted with a mix of Testors Brass and Aluminum to similate the Cadium look as seen on restorations. Need to get more completed on the Mod Top soon.

It was $12 bucks and it worked great I thought. Just have to work with it alittle to get it to lay done with no wrinkles. In case you need it, here is Keith Marks website http://public.fotki.com/mofobow/plymouth/mod_top_pattern/ Thanks for all the comments. Much appreciated. Progress will be slow on these though.

This is the tale of 2 Cudas. One was born Lemon Twist and the other was born Ivy Green Metallic. The Lemon Twist I left the wheel lips alone the way they were molded, wish I had sanded them down alittle. Paint is from Scale Finishes and clear is Testors Model Master Lacquer High Gloss Clear. I polished the clear some and use Novus #2 to finish the body off. I Bare-Metal Foiled the trim. It will have Black interior and I have purchased a set of the AMT Goodyear Polyglas GT Tire sets for it. The Ivy Green Metallic, I decided to try and replicate Steve Juliano's Mod Top Hemi Car. I sanded down the wheel lips to look alittle more accurate. I added the vinyl top trim with Evergreen Strip Styrene half round .040". I added the same strip size to the roof to replicate the vinyl top seams and sanded them down some to flatten them out. Paint is again from Scale Finishes and clear is Testors Model Master Lacquer High Gloss Clear. I polished the clear some and use Novus #2 to finish the body off.I Bare-Metal Folied the trim. I purchased the Mod Top Floral pattern from Keith Marks Decals. I cut the Mod Top decal to approximate size and started to decal. I need to seal them with something, very fragile at this time and don't want them to flake off over time, any suggestion for sealing the decal pattern? This one will have the Dark Green Metallic interior in it. I purchased vinyl interior dye from Classic Industries for this. Interior Here's a few pics together.

Has a resin conversion ever been done for this concept vehicle? Would love to build one. http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/default.aspx?carID=732&i=4#menu

Has anybody ever made a resin up top for the Revell 1971 Cuda Convertible? Would like to get one if available?

Here's something I've been messing around with for the wife. She loves Chargers. She loves Purple so, I figured why not a Plum Crazy Charger for her. Plum Crazy paint is from Model Car World Automotive Finishes. Sprayed interior white then sprayed semi-gloss clear on it. Black carpet and dash. Chassis is painted Plum Crazy with details painted in various different colors. Engine is alittle to red though I believe. Body painted, bare-metal foiled, cleared and polished.

Love it. I have been thinking about one of these just like that. Thanks for sharing
