  1. Who doesn't like this car, an iconic redo of the classic TV car. I will be doing is up with bright orange pinstripes like the TV car. My wife's niece who I had given one of these kits to built it up in her vision which was the orange/red strips like the TV car. . She is a high functioning special needs person with a great imagination. She's 22, yet has the mental capacity and understanding of someone between the ages of 8-12 depending on the task and complexity. I won't be bothering with the interior, windows will be tinted out. So right off the hop the side panels need to be tweaked to fit properly. The first pic is of Sara's build, my inspiration.
  2. Whoa! That is pure coolness.

    Honda RA272

This is a complete fantasy build. It started life as a Tamiya 1/20 scale Honda 272RA from the 1969 F1 Mexico Grand Prix. I added the front winglets, rear wing, tire's are from two 1/24 outlaw kits, wheels are 1/20 BBS F1's, I scribed panel lines adding the rivets. It was sprayed with Spaz Stix Ultra Chrome. Random decals added.
  4. Cool Impala, dig the colour combo. Nice engine details too.
  5. Great work! So rewarding doing these.
  6. It's always enjoyable and inspirational checking out your builds Dann. So much going on with the interiors. Best of luck with the completion.

    Ferrari F1-189

Cheer Chris. Thanks Dann. I can bet if you did build one it would look pretty dam close to a 1:1 with your skill and attention to detail. Thanks man. 1/20, have yet to build a modern F1, the latest F1 I have is the Tamiya Red Bull. But yes I agree they look very fiddly with all those winglets hanging off EVERYTHING. Thanks Thank You Thanks Thank you.
  8. Thanks John. I am looking forward to the next big F1 for that very reason, adding so more detail.
  9. This one took about 15yrs to finally get off the bench. At the time I started it most of my gear was packed away, so the engine and rear suspension were painted by hand with Tamiya acrylics, ugh, that stuff does not like to be brushed on.
  10. An old build I forgot I had, built this back in '98. A bit rough, but I do remeber it being enjoyable to add the detail bits and lay down the carbon fibre decals.
  11. Here's a couple sources. https://www.shapeways.com/shops/3d-model-specialties https://plamoz.com/
  12. Truly the best kits to hone your assembly skills are found with a Tamiya kit. I say this because you can hone your assembly and painting skills and detail the krap out of them without getting frustrated with I'll fitting issues many of the other brands have more of. Of course every manufacture has kits that are a PIA the get right, it's just that Tamiya kits are the cream of the crop with far less kits that fall into the PIA to assemble category. They are known as Shake 'n build kits for a reason, putmpaint and gluemin thenbox and shake. The engineering and assembly process of these kits are so well thought out they almost build themselves, ejection pin marks, and seams are so well placed you can almost get away with no prep work. Almost any kit can be built into a nice looking end product, it's just that the Tamiya kits take far less effort and frustration.
  13. Wow, looks awesome great job. Do you mean you got glue on the windshield? If you did I will post up pics of a seriously messed windshield that I polish back to being crystal clear. I am not a NASCAR fan but always liked the Petty Cars, probably the only car I would ever build.
  14. Goes over pretty much anything, I have yet to have any kind of reaction. I buy from autobody supply shops. As I said it works great for intercoating when mixing different types of paint and different brands. If anyone tells you different they haven't used it. I dig it because I use a ton of different products for coverage and colour choices. If you do a search on here (not sure exactly what subject topic to search) for messed up paint and reactions many are caused from using one manufactures paint over another's. Even if they are both acrylic. I have had reactions between Tamiya and testors, Tamiya and Valijo, Duplicolor and testors, etc. I am no chemist but results don't lie and I am not one to talk BS just to talk. For me Poly-U is a safety net. Ever since I started using it a few years ago for intercoating I have yet to chuck a shell in stripper as a direct result of a bad reaction. It's not cheap by any means but it is a piece of mind for me when messing around with so many different types of colours and paint combos. This thing has over 40 colours on it and a number of paint manufactures paints, enamel, lacquer, acrylic, dollar store nail polish which is some type of lacquer, nail polish from China (who knows what's in that stuff) craft die, my own concoction of Pledge mixed with some colour, the list goes on and on. No reaction at all.
  15. Best clear I have used is this 2 part Poly, it's actually 3 parts if you include the reducer and catalyst. This stuff is great for intercoating (also know as a barrier) as well. I use this stuff between many many different paint products and finishes with out any issues. As a top clear coat it is glass smooth without any wet sanding or polishing.
  16. I am going to say from past experience that the post has been copied and pasted in here from another forum where Trevor originally posted it. I used to do it all the time when this forum required a photo hosting site to post pics. Great looking start Trevor, best of luck with this unique build.
  17. Nothing wrong with that. Looks fantastic.
  18. Nice build, good looking engine.
  19. Wow! That is a great looking build, nice crisp panel lines, glass smooth paint excellent BMF work, what more could a builder ask for.
  20. Great looking build, love the tire's and wheels.
  21. Agree, nice looking build. Mirrors are optional when you drive a car that bright. Lol
  22. Very cool looking build.
  23. Those always make me think of a cartoon car. The roof height in relation to the body always seemed too tall. Although I am sure with your skills it will look awesome .
  24. Any progress on this? I'd love to see this sorted out. OMG, that's a gold mine of a haul. That Rubber Duck kit alone can fetch 250-400$. Anything I have ordered from Japan with free shipping has arrived WAY faster then anything I have ordered from the UK or the US. For us Canadians, Japan Ebay stores are the best place to buy Tamiya, Fujimi, Hasegawa kits, best prices. Hobby Link Japan is another good source for accessories and supplies.
  25. Hello Peter.
