  1. That Renault is kinda cool. Wonder how tough it would be to make that Corolla US-spec? Charlie Larkin
  2. Mr. Duff, in his own inimitable fashion, has very nicely called it. To be fair, they've done some good stuff, too (the1950 Olds and 1957 Ford come immediately to mind,) but whoever is in charge of their R&D/engineering is absolutely asleep at the wheel. I'm not entirely sure what happened with the Corvette here (could someone please explain exactly what the problem is? I'm under the impression it's more than a missing illustrated part and duplicative WWW decals), but whatever it is, it has once again touched off a firestorm of furor. Yes, Revell needs to stop missing the boat. Yes, Revell needs to start showing more respect for their customers. Yes, Revell should seriously consider re-patriating production as having everything under one roof again (or at least within driving distance) might help curb a lot of the QA issues, but none of those will matter until production planning, research and product development and engineering (re-) learn how to do their jobs properly. That means, no major instruction sheet screw-ups, no chopped tops that aren't supposed to be chopped, no more missed contours, etc. Better-grade plastic in the snap kits would also be nice. It means do your job. Yes, perfect model car kits aren't possible; any product reliant upon the mind of man will have flaws. It is a rule and matter of nature. But major errors, especially given the price a model kit goes for now, is unacceptable. I'll gladly buy what they do right that interests me. Good efforts- notice I did not say 100% right for the reasons above, but good, solid performance, deserves support. Would I buy this kit? From what I understand the 1959 Corvette which this kit is based on,is superb. I couldn't act fast enough to get one when they were issued in the late 1990s- the joys of being a broke college kid, but if the rest of this kit is still that good, yes, I'll buy one. I'll learn to deal with the instruction sheet mistakes and extra decals I don't need. That said, a more complete review of the kit would be appreciated. Charlie Larkin
  3. Very nice. Another to ad to the "get" list. Charlie Larkin
  4. Very nicely-built, Randy. Charlie Larkin
  5. I like that, Dan. I can't get into the radiussing/slicks, but the rest of the car looks great. A very tasteful modification of what really is an example of perfect (or as close as man will ever get) automobile styling. I need to finish mine....the one I started in high school around 1990-91. Charlie Larkin
  6. Very sorry to hear this. I knew Matt on The Modeler's Haven. Friendly, great sense of humor and some real hum-dinger quizzes. May all who knew him find peace with his loss. Charlie Larkin
  7. Oops. Somehow, I thought it was. Okay...I re-state my case: we NEED a Polyhead 318, period! So many neat cars can be built with one, it's mind-boggling. Charlie Larkin
  8. Agreed. Charlie Larkin
  9. It's too bad the F-bodies rusted so easily, and weren't as well built as we might've liked. The good ones, anyway, were pretty decent cars. Nice build, Alan. Charlie Larkin
  10. Very cool. I'd really have to wonder if new cars now can even dream of lasting 60+ years. The mileage doesn't seem to be that much of a problem- good maintenance practices will see to that, but I really wonder about the electronics and how now because of insurance industry and governmental meddling, what would have been a minor accident even twenty years ago now frequently totals a car. Some things to consider... Charlie Larkin
  11. The one in the '58 Plymouth is a mess, and, from what I understand, is the only Polyhead in plastic. A wide-block 318 would indeed be welcomed. Particularly with a separate transmission to allow use of PowerFlite, pre-'62 (bigger cast iron) and '62-up (smaller aluminum) transmissions, along with the 3/4-speeds. Charlie Larkin Charlie Larkin
  12. Pretty color, nice build up on what can be a very tough kit. I still would like a stock Henry J that will allow you to build almost anything you like. Charlie Larkin
  13. Considering what you were working with, Rich, I think you did a great job with it. Charlie Larkin
  14. Great link, thanks! Charlie Larkin
  15. Hmm...just posted about an XK-E being available in Q&A, but the XKSS might suffice. Wonder how tough it is to get? I'm glad this re-surfaced. Charlie
  16. Yeah....I was thinking "TKM and 12-year project" sounds about right together. Very nice job, especially considering what you had to start with. Charlie Larkin
  17. Very nice, Al. The bronze/beige/tans/golds work well with red usually. Boy, you sure came out ahead on this deal! Charlie Larkin
  18. Very nice, Steve. The BFGs add a nice touch to the car. Charlie Larkin
  19. You might be able to make roll-up doors with some small chain/wire on the back of popsicle sticks. How you'd do the track is another question, and one I don't have a good (or even bad) answer to at the moment. Very nice work for what you've done so far, Gord. Charlie Larkin
  20. Aside from the rare (and I'd imagine rather expensive) Aurora kit and the Monogram kit (which might be the Aurora, and also a bit tough to find and not exactly chump change,) has anyone made a Jaguar XK-E in (preferably) 1/24 scale more recently? I need 1/24 to go with something else. Little project I have in mind.... Charlie Larkin
  21. Looks good, Nick. I have one of those I'm going to get to at some point. I'm planning on mine being blue with a tan interior- always liked that combo on Jeeps. Charlie Larkin
  22. Already set for April 18, I believe, Dan. Keep it there and I'll come out to visit as frequently as my funds and time will allow me to. Charlie Larkin
  23. Looking really good, Dan. Charlie Larkin
  24. Nice job on the grille, Steve. You should consider Photobucket/Fotki/Flickr, Steve. Makes life a lot easier for pictures. All you have to do is select address[\img] and it appears here. Charlie Larkin
  25. Too bad those kits are so scarce, and I don't have another. I'm also guessing it'll be a long time, if ever, before Tamiya re-issues this one. I don't even like dragsters, and I'd build this. Very cool, Ron. Charlie Larkin
