  1. Talk about "come big or don't come!" Absolutely incredible. Great, outstanding work. Charlie Larkin
  2. ?!?!?!?! Wow! I thought Bruce's Scout was a mess. Ron, if you can pull anything out of this, it'll be great. Here's an idea: how about a model of a car in the middle of a restoration? The only thing you might have to purchase is a one of the replacement windsheild frames from The Modelhaus. Not a lot of cash and saves headaches. I'd do it as a car in-progress- primed some spots, maybe a splotch or two of paint, etc. Charlie Larkin
  3. Nice start. I think the wiring'll look fine once the engine is in the bay. Charlie Larkin
  4. Interesting project. Did you find that Lake Purple was also useful in helping brake glue bonds, or at least weaken them. I have a couple of kits that I want to restore that will need to be disassembled, and I'm still trying to figure out the best way to get them apart, especially as one is near fifty years old and will probably never be reissued, as the molds were modified. Charlie Larkin
  5. A couple of my friends have used them on their cars. Their effectiveness is marginal, at best, but better than nothing at all. The worst part is finding/keeping enough dry ice handy to keep the thing working. Charlie Larkin
  6. Great job. I love the color and overall execution. Charlie Larkin
  7. I like the vinyl top. I think if I ever try it, I'm probably going to give the masking tape route a shot. It seems to be the most reliable, and least dangerous for the plastic, and still look decent. What widths did you use Bruce, 1"? Great work, as always. Charlie Larkin
  8. A Lincoln Mark IV/V is something I'd definitely buy if someone started to cast one or mold one. I'd build my Mk. IV to match Canon's car...that light green with the green vinyl top and interior. Around here, there used to be a Mark V in a pretty turquoise color; I think it had a white/blue interior. I'd build something like that. Charlie Larkin
  9. Eesh, what a mess! Good luck with Bruce, if anyone can do it, it's you. Charlie Larkin
  10. Looks great, Mark! As soon as the hood, etc. is available, I'll order one. Charlie Larkin
  11. I believe MCW also has at least one or two conversion kits for the Lindberg '61 as another alternative. Charlie Larkin
  12. Very nice work, Ron. That came out beautifully. Charlie Larkin
  13. ! Wow, I only looked at two albums and was floored. I can only dream... Charlie Larkin
  14. Definitely some very nice work there, Virgil. Thanks for linking us to it. Charlie Larkin
  15. I saw those in the magazine. Any feel for how much they'll be running yet? I'm definitely interested in ordering one. Charlie Larkin
  16. Those Jo-Han classics are a joy to build. I have a couple. Kevin, may I offer a suggestion? Silver and any brown/tan/beige shade generally do not go well together from my experience. A very appropriate combination would be red leather. Testors flat red with a couple of drops of flat black generally looks very nice for a dark red leather. The floors would have a slightly lighter (read: straight out of the bottle) carpet and the dash should be woodgrained with chrome/nickel trim. Your work is very good and I enjoy seeing it. Charlie Larkin
  17. C'mon...how can you not like Yosemite Sam?! That 'Vette had nice execution outside, the interior I wasn't too wild about. I was trying to figure out what that license plate was. The Mustang with the '68 front end...kinda cool. I'm not sure how it blends together, but considering some of the other junk that's out there, that's actually pretty decent. I showed this to my dad and his eyes said it all... Kurt- Dad and I both liked the cat poster. Charlie Larkin
  18. I would suggest a couple of other things. 1. I'd be VERY careful about immersing the plastic in hot water. You could warp it beyond the point of no return. 2. If you have a strainer or some other kind of basket that you can put over the pot, put the part in there and let it sit in there for a minute or two, and gently move the part. Once it's in the desired position, put it on the counter AWAY from the heat, DO NOT touch, and allow it to cool thoroughly (about 20 minutes.) 3. This may take time, and might take a few steps, caution is the watchword. Charlie Larkin
  19.  I almost fell off the couch reading this. Your points are all very valid and well-taken though. Take this act on the road...you'll make a mint. Charlie Larkin
  20. I now see what's been meant about that roof being a bit short. It does certainly look it. I suppose the convertible is the easiest way to fix that issue. Otherwise, it does look reasonably good built up. You did a nice job with this. Charlie Larkin
  21. I'm glad it got dredged up, and I like it. Another great piece of work Bob. Do you remember off hand what you used for the green in the interior? Charlie Larkin
  22. Nice color combination and overall execution. Charlie Larkin
  23. The flip-up headlights would've been nice, but what's there isn't too bad. I actually like the treatment of the third brakelight, it's a unique, interesting approach to what can be a styling/design royal pain. Charlie Larkin
  24. Very nice Edsel. Nice to see more 4-doors coming out in conversions, etc.

  25. I wonder if Coker might be convinced to let people make models of their tires. Although it might not be period-correct for cars as-new, it would be a huge improvement over blank tires. If I had a model company, I'd certainly at least talk to them about it. They'd also be a good source of information for old tire manufacturers who are gone completely, and might be able to help research those. Charlie Larkin
