Why Glue Bombs ?
charlie8575 replied to D. Battista's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Partially the challenge, partially budget. Unbuilt old kits can be pretty expensive, and my hobby budget can be very, very tight, so I get as good as I can find and do something with it. Charlie Larkin -
Sad Sad Sad News: Our Harry Passed Away
charlie8575 replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I saw this yesterday on Facebook. Well, now Tuesday, as it's very early Thursday morning now. It's still sinking in, not sure if it will completely or not for a while. Harry was truly a driving force in this hobby, and in hobby publishing. Most of all, a intelligent, friendly, voice of reason on this forum. And yes, his wry sense of humor. His presence will be missed by all of us. Charlie Larkin -
I understand "tight." I had to move back in with my parents in 2010, when the whole world went to Hades in a hand-basket. Our house was already a bit..."full," due to deaths and the resulting "well, where do we put it all?" questions with stuff we either couldn't get rid of, or in a few cases, didn't want to. As things are slowly (and finally) starting to improve a little for me, I'm hoping I'll be able to get out of here this year. The problem is that in eastern Massachusetts, both rents and home prices alike are at record highs simultaneously, and even central Massachusetts is getting expensive. Basically, too many drones commuting to Boston, and if it's even sort of commutable, they're going there. I've found a couple of places that I'm going to see if I can swing, and they all have a reasonable amount of space for things like a modeling room/den. That is one of my absolute requirements. Welcome, Matt. Don't forget about the RTS Expo this Sunday, March 19 (unless it gets snowed out,) at the Holiday Inn in Taunton. This is the old MassCar show. While I'm at it, MassCar meets the third Wednesday at Porter & Chester Institute in Canton (Rt. 24 to 139/Stoughton, Right on Turnpike St. at Cumby's, go about two miles down into the building, go left towards the auto shop, we meet upstairs from there.) Not sure if we're meeting tomorrow due to weather, though. Charlie Larkin

Four door or sedan/post interest
charlie8575 replied to disconovaman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If they did a bubble-back coupe...well, most manufacturers have kits in cases of six, so I'd be in for a case. These are one of my favorite designs of the 1970s. Charlie Larkin -
Four door or sedan/post interest

Given the current popularity of 1980s TV on channels like Decades, This, MeTV, Antenna, and a few others, I think John may be quite right, and a 1977-90 Impala, perhaps as a 2-in-1 with the correct options for a Caprice Classic, would be a very good seller. Police, rep-stock, and lowrider guys would all buy them, as well as people reliving part of their childhoods. Charlie Larkin -
Revell 30 Model A Ford Production Halted?

I wonder if they re-started production? If not, I wonder if I should be trying to get a couple for stock? Charlie Larkin -

I might be able to order Uschi products from one of my wholesalers still. I can check for you and let you know. If I can, I'll be happy to do a mail-order for you. Charlie Larkin -
Pre-order? They're a bit late. I had two show up at my store last week. This is the 1990s tool, and it's fantastic. Go ahead and grab one, you'll love it. Charlie Larkin

Nice job, Rich. Makes me really hope that someone will take over their production. So much stuff I wanted to get, and still need for a ton of projects. Charlie Larkin

Too bad Ford didn't do it, it looks great! Is that a Mustang roof section you used? Charlie Larkin

Round 2 February 2017 Product Spotlight
charlie8575 replied to MrObsessive's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Perfect. As I remember, that also comes with a pretty decent 427, which, with the proper exterior parts, will represent a 352 well. Thanks. Charlie Larkin -

Pity. We need a good early Ford-O-Matic or Cruise-O-Matic. Does anyone know of any? Charlie Larkin -

Revell Reissued 57 Chevy Black Widow wrong body ?
charlie8575 replied to kingiguana's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Well, it is confirmed. I spoke with my wholesaler this morning, and told him to check. He did, and sure enough, two of them had the wrong body. When/if I get more information about this and how Revell is handling it, I'll let you know. In the meantime, if you got an affected kit, I'd suggest contacting Revell to see if they'll either supply a replacement body or what other disposition they would like you to make of the product in question. You would, however, think that the production managers would do a test run to check stuff prior to simply producing? Mistakes happen, this was poor planning. Charlie Larkin -

charlie8575 replied to kingiguana's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The Black Widow was indeed released in 2009. The Bel-Air post coupe was released either later in 2009 or in 2010, but the 150 was first. Charlie Larkin
