HOW CRAZY ABOUT GASSERS ARE YOU?
moparmagiclives replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Dear Dr. Cranky, I had the fever so bad that the models on my bench could not keep the fire down, so the next thing I knew I was in the garage yanking all the front end parts ( new disc brakes conversion) out of my 1:1 64 falcon and sold it on craigs list to make room for the solid axle from an econo line and big block from a LTD. As mentioned before, the book "gasser wars" is a great place to start. You can make almost anything into one that you can think of, although not all would be as effective in real life as the older short wb coupes of yester years. But I guess thats where the " style" comes in and just says its "COOL" I dont have a good camera at this time but on my bench is a 70 boss 429 mustang getting the solid treatment..... feels good to be sick. -
Thinking of doing a 1/16
moparmagiclives replied to scubadiver411's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I picked up the DOH charger a wile back thinking the same thing. I've had very little luck finding much to turn it into a more "street" car then movie car. wish i would have waited and got the street charger, I'm not really into nascar that much, basicly all the doh charger is,as stated above several times. But 18 bucks at hobbie lobby for a 1/16 was hard to pass up. -
I'm sure I would be more then happy with this magazine. It seems to be made for modelers by modelers and I like that. And I will probly get me a sub after the hollidays now that I know what to expect just because it is so hard to get around here. Kinda funny though, I found this site at first just looking for model info, it was quite a wile before I ever knew there was a magazine to go with it....

I dont really like to subscride to magazines that much. I feel like I'm giving money up for what ever someone decides to give me. I subscribed to airbrush action once, as soon as I started to get mine in the mail, it just wasnt the same as what I was getting off the news stand. Probly just me but.... And I also dont subscribe for the same reason I dont do netflix. I like to be able to walk into the video/book stores and look around, actualy talk to people. Again, probly just me...

I was in seattle for some factory training and stopped into a little Game/hobbie shop down town. I didnt reallyl care for the prices, but I came across the magazines, He has all of them in a three month order at full price then the fouth one in line at a discount. So I was able to pick up the last four issues. Have to say its very informative, and it feels like your holding something in your hand unlike some other model mags who get a little thin now and then. The first one I cracked open was the issue with the Troz, Man is he a hero to me. That was pretty cool on its own. And the "Munster coach" build up was neet also, got me motivated to starts my "Dragula". Keep up the great work!!!

They do have control, pay for them or dont get them. A new years model will come with about 5, the rest come at about 4 bucks each, and when more brochures go out then cars, even in a little po dunk town like this one. That adds up after a wile. And when you have 30 brochures for each model from last year, well thats an even bigger kick in the junk So its not just the giving away (to customers) that scares them off, its the "what do I do with these now" when the new ones come out. And that stands for the Auto maker just as well as the small dealer, they dont like to have alot of old product either. But I've worked in a dealer for the last 12 years, never seen the "promo" order form. To be honest, untill the new challenger launched, I thought they were one of those " when I was young" storys.

The new Challenger promo had nothing to do with the promoton of the car, it was sold as a collectable. And a pretty spendy one at that. Before we lost the Chevy franchise, I dont recall hearing about anything for the last 15, 20 years or so. You guys would be suprized to see just how much the brochures cost the dealer.

Why a V8 at all ??? Why not a small bore V10 or 12 ? 5.0 with a 12k redline. Make it sound like it looks. -
Who else likes watching cartoons?
moparmagiclives replied to Ben's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
When we moved into the new house, my wife was 9 monthes preg and the other 2 kids were driving her nuts because we had yet to call and get the cable hooked up (still havent yet ) so she let them pick out a "scobby doo" dvd at safeway, that was two years and 56 dvds latter...we likes it a lot. -

Red alert decal source ?
moparmagiclives posted a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
At the risk of being pinned lazy and unwilling to help myself, I'm wondering where the "best" place may be to get a set of decals to build a "red alert" chevelle. I've alway liked that car and think i may be ready to try and tackle the build. -

This is just cool!
moparmagiclives replied to charlie8575's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I dont get what he is trying to prove here ??? What kind of range is he traveling or load is he hauling that he cant cover it on a bicycle ? Or is it the fact that he has a model "A" But on a more related note, I love my 89 short box standard cab 2wd f150 for the same reason, no power acc, no buttons. It does run efi, but the $99 cd player I installed is smarter then the stock ecu. Working with new Chryslers every day, Its kinda fun to get into a vehilce and "roll" down a window or even better crack open a wing window. No skim keys, or memory modules. Just good old driving....it drives my wife nuts !!!! -
