Project 1/16th AA/FA AND HERE IT IS!
Dragline replied to Ian McLaren's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I was away far too long. I see that the build quality has only gotten higher and I will have to step up my game. I just went through this thread and I must say this is a stunning build in every sense. Just beautiful.- 149 replies

Fujimi Enthusiast Series Lamborghini Countach
Dragline replied to Dragline's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I may dig this kit out again. The sting of it being associated with my Mums stroke has certainly passed. Of course I need to figure out which box it is in. That should be a blast. -
Ill give you a subscribe so I dont miss em.

Your Youtube is the one with the turtle right? I just watched your Jungle Jim build videos. I gave em thumbs up.

It is the Hawaiian, good eyes there! There arw a number of aftermarket goodies I am using. The photoetch steering wheel is an awesome piece. The starter bracket is the kit front piece with aluminum tube and wire in the center for strength. I have a custom painted body for it that ill add a pic for. Some resin fittings by a European company I forget the name of, a photoetched harness and some scratchbuilt items. The Tru-flame on the hood was created making a mask that I stole from watching a guy do it on Youtube. I just scaled the mask down to the correct scale. Custom decals by the late Ratnasty who was a member here. R.I.P. Chuck

I had these kits for what seemed forever. The R-75 BMW by Esci had to have been in my stash for 2 decades. The WLA is a more recent purchase. I think I bought it when it was reissued about 10 years ago. The Beemer is currently like an as new bike other than rusty exhaust. At some point I'm going to weather it. The WLA is another matter. I weathered it with a technique I learned fron a military guy. It is madw to represent a bike bought at Army salvage by a former soldier and fixed up to be a runner. The seat is new but thebrest is as he bought it. Still not sure if I'll weather the seat. I know a great technique but I may have to remove it to make that happen. Hope you like em.

I have been away from here for quite a long time. My journey into miniature painting and that entire world has engulfed my hobby time almost completely. While I have enjoyed it thoroughly, I have missed my cars, bikes and all the ins and outs it takes to make something shiny. So I broke out some 1/2 done and new kits and decided to paint something that didnt have a sword or a skimpy outfit on. The 1/16 nostalgia funny car is a custom project I started 6 years ago. It is starting to take shape. The Hawaiian funny car was started in 2015, finished last week. The Matt Hays Thunderbord was started last week. The clear coat needs a buff, but the Testors magenta enamel was a dead ringer for the real thing. The Iaconio car was started a decade ago at least. I should be able to button it up soon. The Bud King is also as old. The tins were painted red and that was as far as I got. It now has a direction at least. I'll post more as I get things done. It is good to be back building cars.

Extremely well done and very convincing. The finishes, which are so important are well done. I would be proud to call it my own work.

Pod Racer
Dragline replied to Pat Minarick's topic in All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
I built the Pod racer as the....well, Pod racer. It never occurred to me to make it into a trike. Not even in some fever dream... Well done and very creative.. -
In what vehicle did you learn to drive?
Dragline replied to BeakDoc's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My Uncle Steve's 1977 Mercury Capri in the Dartmouth Mall parking lot. Manual shift and I only stalled it a couple of times before I got it figured. This is a recent conversation I had with Uncle Steve so it is still fresh. The car was less than a year old. He says it's in the garage and has been since 1981 when he parked it there. I am considering rescuing it since he owns the house [His parents, long gone], and he lives in New Hampshire over 300 miles away. He says it was perfect when he put it away so it may take some doing but it's mine if I can get it going. Olive green with silver I believe. -
Seems nice. The panel lines could be improved.

On point Matt.

Serious blasts from the past. Thanks for posting.

I missed it. That's a collectors thing though.

I'm planning on doing a weathered one and an old school box art build. I have Molotov and through the airbrush it looks better than kit chrome. Not only that, the roof is tin and the wheels are steel. I know we will get chrome so it's no biggie I guess. As long as the original decals are also supplied. That new design is not up to snuff.
-
Sell em to us like that, no need to chrome it. I'm just going to strip it all anyways.

Awesome Find on Ebay....

Collect comic book art like I do and then we can talk serious prices. -
Incompetence and the "new normal"...
Dragline replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I see no reason for this to become political unless someone wishes it to. It's about "Pride" in workmanship and accepting responsibly for ones failings. The "trophy" generation is all instant gratification and zero ground work. The digital age has shown them that somehow there are millions of jobs that require ZERO effort or at the very least minimum effort that make above average living wages. They are encouraged to seek paths of least resistance as a way to skirt effort and knowledge as a basis for career paths that will eventually go nowhere. I worked in Auto Parts like at least one other here. I know what the smallest common denominator in knowledge and effort eventually lead too. It's leads to mediorcrity and substandard service and advice. Raising a false RED flag upon this conversation shows me a few things. I dislike the implication that it be shut down when it seems that there is consensus among those involved. -

So well done. Such a groundbreaking car. I have two in the stash, gotta build at least one of em. -
I love older builds like this. It really shows where you were at the time. You were in a good place that's for sure. Well done Sir.
