I have ridden through many a helmet free state and I have always kept mine on. I only wear a small skullcap but it is DOT approved and I wear it at all times. I remember many rides into Rhode Island where everyone would pull over and take their helmets off. I always thought they were nuts. I do ride my skateboard without a helmet. And i paid for it once some years ago. I do not wear one still, but it is always in the back of my mind.

I wish you luck Bill, I truly do. A small car like that is always fun to drive, but is in the same catagory as a bike. A couple of fenders is really the only difference. Your story is eerily similar to mine. I wonder how many stories there are out there that have the same tone. My guess is way too many.

I have NO idea how anyone could miss that monster. Those pipes look LOUD as heck as well. I have no wish to be someones mistake. I've almost been killed several times with one incident causing me weeks in the hospital and many broken bones and worse. My bike is for sale as we speak. I've been riding since I was 17. In all that time I've been. HIT, dragged, run off the road, messed with, yelled at. I've had, bottles thrown at me. I was once pushed into an intersection by a woman and her Ford Escort's bumper. Let's see. Cut-off, tailgated, sideswiped....... The list goes on. The only bike I have had any luck on was my old Knuckle. It was slow and loud and I think people actually felt bad for me when I rode it. But that was stolen and then found in a field. How the thief figured it out is anyone's guess. It was a kick only tank shift with bad brakes that rattled over 50. Starting that bike was an event. I loved it but even hard core guys used to shake their heads at it. After it lost oil pressure i parked it under the porch for 10 years. When I sold it, it fired up with good gas and the guy put it on a trailer never to be seen again. I miss that bike.

Three weeks ago I decided to take my bike to work. I have to go over a large bridge to get there. Half way over the bridge sees me in the center lane. This woman in the right lane starts edging into my lane. I look over and all I can see is PHONE. No part of her face is visible. I hit my pathetic horn, nothing. I pull the clutch lever and let it roar!, nothing. The guy in the left lane see my predicament and backs off so i can move over. I do, then gun it and get in front of the woman in the large SUV [T-Blazer or something]. I hit the brakes and check her. She comes right up on me and blows her horn. I flip her off and pull over so I can start yelling my head off. She speeds away cutting off three cars in the process. I will NOT be taking my bike to work again. Not sure how she can miss me on the bike. It's bright, shiny and has a large man riding it with loud pipes. I guess the phone is far more important.

How does your family deal?
Dragline replied to Jeff31293's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My family is very supportive. My father was particularly. He gave me my first, Model, Guitar, Skateboard. All things which is do to this day. I played in a working band for 15 years. I skated both Pro and Am since 1973, and the models are things he just loves so much. With his Mancave overflowing with my builds it's safe to say he enjoys them. The rest of my family all have examples of my work and show them off with pride. How could I ask for more than that? I lost my Dad last Saturday and I am going to a Memorial I organized this very morning. Getting my builds back will be bittersweet. But knowing how he adored them is solace enough. -
That idea is going to get appropriated i think. It's just too good.

Moderators - Who are they?
Dragline replied to Daddyfink's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As good as you guys are [Mike, Dave], I think there is a sense of loss that some might not quantify, or some might not even notice. For quite a few of us, it's clear who is missing. Harry... Harry moved threads as needed. He was constantly available and generally here quite a lot. It's Harry's touch that is missing. Harry seemed omnipresent at times. Able to calm threads that were going awry. Give a scolding where needed with a firm but honest hand. It is Harry's presence we are missing. That I am missing... What Harry did for this site had/has a great deal to do with why it grew and became what it is this very moment I am typing this. Harry's honesty and wry humor was a perfect foil to the rest of us who bumble around here posting our opinions and builds for the world to see. There is NO example of Harry ever getting flushed or short with anyone in all the time I've been here. His Admin skills were benign yet hands on, on a level I think few will ever match. I guess i just miss Harry. Bob -
Looks fantastic from where I'm sitting.

Looks good Dave. Loooooong way to go Buddy. Keep it on the bench.

When I think of it, this may be true for ALL of us. I come here every day whether I post or not. I have come here every day since Harry left us and I have thought of Harry every time I have visited this site. That means Harry has been on my mind if even briefly, every day since we got the news he had left us. That's something significant. Bob

I am personally involved a with a great many movements on-line and YouTube and I can tell you all this much. This line of conversation can cause a great deal of trouble. I have my opinions like everyone else and have had my share of ideological differences with the say SJW and BLM types out there. As a conservative [not in vogue currently] I am constantly barraged with all manner of the "peripherally engaged". They are a vocal sort to be sure and have no shortage of names they use to box you into a corner if you let them. I choose facts and reality in my approach but that only infuriates them since they deal only in "feelings". It's like bashing your head into a stone column. The real threats are out there if you care to look.

Anything I can do is a done deal. Harry was a friend to us all. -

Dragline replied to aurfalien's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Geez, that's nice... -
Those decals look quite nice. I'm going to super detail another one of these and make it more accurate than I did. Those decals will certainly help it.
