I had both race trucks but due to outrageous prices sold them to fund other ventures. Good to see them back but a sad day for those with originals. But it's only for the moment for originals. There are only so many original kits out there. There are hardcore collectors who have to have an orig kit. this may be where you can slide in and get a value for it you hope for. I have collected and dealt in comics for more than 40 years. i know markets and collectors. these are tried and true conclusions.

I will be there and am looking forward to putting some faces to names.

I've been peeking in on this since the beginning and I have to say. ARE YOU GUYS KIDDING ME? Perhaps you should only take participants of sound mind AND body? I built 30 models in this time period and most of them were money builds. I still built for myself and if you know how I build there were detail builds galore. I think Hunter S Thompson said it best. "Buy the ticket, Take the ride". What's funny is I hold down a full time job, have a honey and play out 3 nights a week in a tribute band. Weak as water...................... Mine is probably getting the nerve to Start my 1/20 McLaren MP4/4. I have the Top Studio super upgrade kit [don't ask how much], I also have the tobacco decals and a set of metal wheels for it. There are so many pieces to the upgrade kit it's a little daunting. I have the paint and everything in place and all that's lacking is the nerve to get on with it. I think I'm glad i didn't get the whole thing in 1/12 scale.

I feel your pain but that effect is something to be duplicated.

I was looking at a number of these the other day on eBay. They go for good money and the combo of metal attracted me. I gotta say it looks challenging. BTW, you killed it as this looks great.

They no longer exist for good reason. I know from experience that a 1/2 closed door if hinged at the rear can fly open suddenly. I'll just leave it there.

It matters to those who are after 100% orig. I don't build [rarely] factory stock. But when I do I go for a factory finish. I'm currently building a 1/9 BMW R-75 WWII bike w/sidecar. I'm going after patina a bit but am using gloss paint that's thinned a bit though my airbrush. It comes out not quite flat but seriously semi-gloss. is it correct? After looking at period pictures and restored bikes it becomes hard to tell. After I'm finished and it's weathered you can decide for yourself. My WIP goes up Thurs morning in the "All The Rest" category. But for me the correct paint makes a build come to life.

Levels of craftsmanship we should all strive for. If we fall short [and most will], we can still be proud that we went that extra mile to see a project finished "just so". Impressive all.....

Engine detail is OK. The carb is part of the intake and the header flanges part of the heads. No distributor and minimal engraving. It can be made to look good if doctored up. The way it sits in this car is perfect for the detail it has.
