I can't imagine anyone would be gullible enough to seriously believe Tamiya would make a Corvair Rampside. Paul was obviously joking.

Would be nice...there are plenty of modern trucks (and SUVs) I'd like to see kitted. I'm not really a truck guy, but I have liked the Ram for a long time and like the newest one quite a bit..

Hey happy new year?My Jeep battery is dead
Rob Hall replied to NYLIBUD's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Yeah, my '14 Jeep Grand Cherokee I bought last year w/ 25k miles makes my old one ('00 Jeep Grand Cherokee) seem like a CJ5 in comparison...has a lot of technology..touch screen, NAV, backup camera, satellite radio, AWD w/ settings for mud, snow, etc, load leveling suspension, etc...got the extended warranty... Loving it so far.. -
Hey happy new year?My Jeep battery is dead

I remember when that sensor went bad on my old Jeep (2000 WJ GC)... the engine shut off while driving, would not start, was an intermittent issue over a few days...took 2 trips to the shop for them to figure it out.. they thought it was the battery cable the first time. Over 100k miles I had a lot of electrical and sensor maladies w/ that Jeep. But for the most part it got me to work everyday. -
Round 2 releases covered in the other thread linked above..and this thread http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/126911-some-current-round-2-info-today/?page=6

Actually, the Ram 1500 Tradesman has that... according to the Ram B&P configurator site---manual windows, rubber floor covering, manual vinyl-covered bench seat... the kind of trucks that are usually white w/ black bumpers & grille that fleets buy.

Grease was made 40 years ago, set 60 years ago...used whatever tires they had on hand, I guess....

All the snow was gone here after the warmup last week, but then we got a bunch of fresh power Friday night and Saturday, then again Monday. Sunny and 9F this morning, supposed to be in the 40s by the weekend here in Cleveland...

I like the looks of the new Ram--it's the cleanest of the big 3--the Ford and Chevy front-end styling is too overdone, IMO...I like that 12-inch UConnect screen, hopefully Jeeps will get that eventually (when I'm ready for my next Grand Cherokee).

'76-77 body style Cutlass ran in NASCAR through '80...NASCAR didn't downsize their specs until '81.

Who knows, if this issue sells well, maybe Revell will retool it to do the special version..

The Monte Carlo Turbo in 80-81 used the Buick Turbo V6. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Monte_Carlo

mc magazine issue number

The '80-81 Trans Am turbo was a Pontiac 301 IIRC.

That's how the game works...same as with Round 2. Straight reissues of old tooling + new box art + new decals = sales. There is no incentive for them to invest in new or modified tooling when these reissues keep selling well...
-
Yeah, it's not the IMC '48 Ford--its actually a pretty nice kit. I already have the stock version, so I don't need another, not interested in the movie version.
-
You seem to not grasp that these kits are straight reissues of 40 yr old tooling...they aren't going to reengineer the kits and change a bunch of parts in existing molds--simply new box art and decals. The 60s Chevy truck kits were tooled in the modern era by a totally different Revell organization than the Revell and Monogram companies of 40 years ago (which were separate companies then). Products of different companies in different eras. A new tool '73-87 GM pickup would be nice, but I don't see it happening anytime soon.

2019 Mustang Bullitt
Rob Hall replied to iamsuperdan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've liked the Bullitt editions, always liked Mustangs in dark green. But when I get another coupe, I think I'll go for a modern Challenger. -

Would make a nice kit, but probably won't happen. -
Since it's a modified reissue, it makes sense the stock number would be different than the original. That's the same stock number shown on the flyer in the first post.

Chevrolet Van/Medium Duty Chassis Cab
Rob Hall replied to Fabrux's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I assume Winnebago bought chassis-cabs from GM then put their own fiberglass nose on them. -

Nope, that's a Chevy/GMC cab---look at the door. Definitely not a Dodge. -
