What did you see on the road today?
Rob Hall replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The mirrors appear to be off a modern truck or SUV… -
I rode in a coworker's Tesla Model S a while back, it was quite quick in a straight line. Smooth and very quiet. I've ridden in a few Uber Model 3s, the interiors seemed very sparse and cheaply put together. a lot of road noise from the tires w/ the Model 3s I noticed.

I'm on a few Pro Boards modeling forums and a dozen or so FB modeling groups...lots of activity out there. Way more online activity than 30+ years ago when I was on the Usenet forum rec.models.scale. -

I built that 80s version as a teenager. Would be nice to see it back in stock form w/ the correct wheels and tires.

I probably will test drive a Bronco when I’m shopping for my next SUV. I think they are neat. Though I don’t do off-roading anymore beyond the occasional gravel or dirt road…I think if I’m shopping Ford dealers I’d be looking at the Lincoln side of the store…Aviator or Navigator. They have beautiful interiors. Also want to look into the GMC Yukon. Though most likely I’ll get another Grand Cherokee in probably the Summit or Summit Reserve trim. I have 23+ years of buying Grand Cherokees…

I assume the big flares are needed because of the big tires and that the track is increased compared to a standard Bronco? -
A 289 with Webers would be neat.

Dec '79 I was 9 and in 4th grade. Had been building glue kits a couple of years by then...mostly AMT reissues, some MPC annuals, and a few Revell kits..got started w/ Monogram around that time..getting kits from K-Mart and other long gone NE Ohio stores (Harts, Rinks, Nichols, Conleys)...

"The price is WRONG, <Bob>"...:) Fun movie... I think I watched Price is Right a few times as a kid, but really remember him from Happy Gilmore..

I see a lot of EVs, mostly Teslas but plenty of the Kias, Hyundais and occasionally Ford and M-B. I've seen a couple of the Cadillac Lyriq, a sweet looking CUV. I don't see an EV necessarily fitting my use case in the near future---I work from home and don't have a commute...drive mostly around town and occasional weekend trips. Down the road maybe something like a Grand Cherokee 4xe hybrid would suit me. I'll probably be car shopping in the next 12-18 months...either another Grand Cherokee or maybe a Tahoe or Yukon for more towing capacity. Though I've thought about keeping my current GC ('14 w/ 76k miles) for winter and light towing and getting a sedan (Cadillac CT5 or used CT6, maybe a Chrysler 300C) for road trips..

Revell (Monogram) 1/24 1977 Jeep CJ-7 Renegade
Rob Hall replied to Jordan White's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
On Scalemates I see two releases--one with a hardtop and one open, and two decal styles...so could make 3 versions out of that I guess..there also the Stomper kits w/ big tires, not sure if that is the same tooling. -
I think they are all PST or earlier (Gregg), so still early in the AM for them...
-
I reported a few of them, I'm sure the admins will take care of it...

Revell (Monogram) 1/24 1977 Jeep CJ-7 Renegade
Rob Hall replied to Jordan White's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
The 1/24th one is the Monogram full detail kit...presumably the reissue is the Revell 1/25th snap kit that hasn't been seen in 40+ years.. -
Upcoming late '23-early '24 Revell releases
Rob Hall replied to Mr. Metallic's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Pretty sure the previous issues of the GT350R had it.. -
Lots of good things...yesterday made 2 months since I moved into my new house (tomorrow makes 4 months since I closed on it). Still have a lot of boxes to unpack. Finally got my old house on the market yesterday--had 3 showings last night, 3 today... 2 offers came in this evening, one for what I was asking, one for $25k over... not bad. Tomorrow is also the 6th month birthday of my 3 Yorkie puppies...growing and very chewy now..

With that steering wheel, something from the '40s-50s? Maybe one of the AMT '51 Chevys?

You were using his email fireball@josephosborn.org? I placed an order with him last week (Aug 13) using that address. -

Those bronze wheels would look great on a Eruption Green car…. -
Fun show...the bumpers are definitely from a later car...could be a mid 70s car with the chrome headlight rings. The bumpers look like from a 964 generation.
