  1. There seems to be a lot of hearsay going on with regards to this kit and no hard facts from Round2. I won't believe anything until i see an official release statement from Round 2.
  2. I suspect we will know more within the next 9 months. Or not.
  3. That I'm not sure of...I have the molded in green SSP issue in my stash, but don't remember anything about the wheels or tires.
  4. Sharp...love those Johan Caddies..
  5. In another thread someone said they saw that a '14 Corvette Stingray coupe and '15 convertible promos are coming this year...no indication of what company, though...
  6. IIRC this was the same tooling that was released at some point as a Lindberg which was molded in green. I built the Lindberg long ago, was very simplified inside and out, had a warped hood w/ molded-in engine. Some parts were molded in green, some in black. The MPC and Monogram Mustangs of that era are much better kits.
  7. Looking good..I like the color choices on the chassis and the body..
  8. I assume they reused that Caddy engine tooling from the existing 49 kit.
  9. I assume it was a cost issue..Revell's budget for the wagon kit didn't include tooling up a new engine...
  10. A '51 custom coupe could be a good 3rd version, since the '51 is so different from behind..
  11. That is an interesting detail, never noticed the size of the tires in particular. The Skip's version is the only version of that kit I've built, though I've in more recent years bought the SSP version (molded in green) and a '70s issue (yellow on the box)..never compared the tires. If I build another one, I'd probably go for a mild custom look w/ smaller tires w/ wire wheels. I've also long wanted to do a phantom '60 Skyliner by kitbashing the roof w/ the AMT '60 Starliner...
  12. Hmm...I've never compared them, but I wonder if those are 1/24th tires w/ whitewalls in the Skip's version...IIRC, they are like the Monogram ones w/ the plastic white wall inserts (like on the '58 Thunderbird).
  13. The Cherokee is considerably smaller, FWD/AWD with a 4 cyl. It's the Liberty replacement. The GC is RWD/AWD and is larger, w/ V6 and V8. Big price difference also. There has been talk for years also of a larger Grand Wagoneer model, kind of a Jeep version of the Durango (the curent Durango is a LWB Grand Cherokee under the skin).
  14. I like the Grand Cherokee, I may get a new one to replace my old one if I move back to a colder climate..but if I end up moving to a beach area, I may get a Wrangler. The new Cherokee is very strange looking from the front, not sure what to think of the Renegade, not really into the the little CUV 'cute utes'.
  15. Sharp builds..I like the color choice, graphics and wheels on both of 'em. I love the look of the '70-71 Torinos.. Speaking of '70-71 Torinos, I'd love to see a kit or resin conversion for a '70 Ranchero GT...(IIRC one of the resin casters made one about 15 years ago).
  16. Octane is a great magazine...kind of hard to find and expensive here in the states, though. I also like Classic and Sportscar.
  17. Sharp..I like the color combo and wheels, the Holman Moody decal is a neat touch.
  18. It's a good magazine...I'm a long time subscriber of Hemmings Classic Cars and Hemmings Muscle Machines. Great reference material and photos. My favorite old-car mag is probably Collectible Automobile...been a subscriber for 20+ years.
  19. I know..it's the attitudes of those that think it's 'whining' that is the problem. People like that do the hobby no good....acceptance of mediocrity is not the answer. it's still wrong..and the MPC bodies were more accurate.
  20. It's not whining. The body is wrong on many levels. So what if the engine or other parts are nice, the body is unusable. The body is the most noticable part of a kit, and the one that has to be accurate. Don't read the thread if you can't handle criticism being discussed.
  21. I snap a photo of the offender's license plate and email it to the university's parking department. My employer has a block of reserved spots closest to the building, and some people think they can park there, even though they are clearly marked (my employer leases its office space from Arizona State University in one of their off-campus buildings).
  22. I built the Skip's version as a teenager in the late '80s. It was my first 1/25th scale multi-piece body kit..I remember opening the box and wondering where the body was... I still have a scar on my thumb from a X-acto knife cut from that build. It is a kit that builds up quite nicely with care and attention--lots of test fitting needed.
  23. Today's irkage are people that can't read signs and park illegally in marked reserved parking spaces.
  24. Given the number of tire parts packs they have done so far, it wouldn't surprise me if they don't offer the redline versions at some point in the future.. I've used resin redline tires before, but the problem with them is they always seem to be the skinny early-mid '60s variety--too narrow for a late '60s muscle car application.
