Hardly. These models are supposed to be accurate, detailed replicas, not inaccurate toys. If Revell wants to be taken seriously with adult modelers, they need to be take the details seriously.

Models in the movies

Yes..he made strange scratchbuilt model cars, IIRC. -
AMT Redline/Goodyear Polyglass Tires
Rob Hall replied to drifterdon's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Those are different..the Parts Pack tires don't have redlines on one side, both sides have RWL... -
Culvers are good...we have those here in AZ also. Along w/ Five Guys, In and Out and Whataburger. One West Coast chain we have here that I like is Habit Burger..simple and tasty.

Why on earth would anyone 'apologize' to them for fixing what they screwed up? If they had proper quality control and paid attention to what they were doing when they designed the kit in the first place, they wouldn't have received the well-earned criticism.

Moebius Tim Flock '56 Chrysler 300b with photo-etch
Rob Hall replied to S. Svendsen's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Odd that the decals say '300-A' when the car was a 300B..was that a race numbering scheme for that team? -
You can't really go by one photo at an angle, and we have no idea if that picture has been edited or not. We will only know when the kit is out and people compare the body to the police car version. The roof height was only one issue with the body--the decklid shape was wrong, side trim was wrong, etc.

Yeah, still another 6-8 weeks or so of nice weather here...then 4-5 months of horror.

General Concern About Kit Leaf Springs
Rob Hall replied to Skydime's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
IIRC, there have been some kits w/ separate shackles for leaf springs..I seem to recall building a couple of older kits with separate shackles, they may have been chromed parts. Some kits have also had blocks of different heights that fit under the tip of the leaf spring to raise or lower the rear.. -
Maybe he wants Kragers to put on a Kamero...

If Ed actually believes that, he needs new glasses or should retire..

Wow...my Jeep hit 150k about a month ago..it will be lucky if it gets to 200k.

So it sounds like they haven't bothered to correct the body. Anyway, the new drag parts should be interesting.

I've never encountered Premier kits, but I have encountered Palmer. IMO the critical difference between such atrocities of the past is that those models that were toys aimed at kids while models today are aimed at an adult audience, so the bar for accuracy and quality is much higher. As far as the thread subject, I got my Missing Link resin '73 Chevelle yesterday..definitely worth the wait, a very nice piece.

Way cool..I have the Matchbox, neat vehicle. -
There were threads on the '57 last year...sounds like Revell delayed the release to correctly tool the chassis.

2014 Revell 2nd Quarter Kit Announcements
Rob Hall replied to gasman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Those are supposedly 2nd quarter along w/ the Mustang LX 5.0 drag car, along with the reissues of the old-tool Revell '57 Bel Air ht, '58 Corvette and '59 Impala. Sounds like from AMT the '25 Ford C-cab fruit wagon and '67 Mustang gasser...and who knows what else. The Moiebus Ford trucks may be here in the 2nd quarter. -
2014 Revell 2nd Quarter Kit Announcements
Rob Hall replied to gasman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
lots of stuff that's been previously announced and probably some that haven't been announced yet. -
IIRC, that was the Cruisin USA Barris issue from around 1980...I built that one as a kid. I don't recall if more recent issues of the coupe had 2 engines also (327 and 427), but the extra parts will be nice to have. I've built a couple older issue '63s, I may get one of these for resto parts for a clean but incomplete '66 builtup I got recently (body and interior unpainted, missing the glass and engine and some underhood parts).

Interesting...didn't know they were moving..was in there just yesterday evening..that one is mostly R/C with a small selection of model kits, didn't have any recent releases..still, I like the location--I drive by there (Scottsdale Road, south of downtown) most every weekday...

Noticed that..wonder when HLJ will be taking preorders..

'64 Riviera winner
Rob Hall replied to Baugher Garage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't like custom Mercs either..if it's not stock (original or restored), I'm not interested...I find customs tasteless and a pointless waste of time. -
The problem w/ the promos, like the kits, is that they are old--'80s-90s vintage. Not late model....and a problem w/ many of diecast in 1/24 and 1/25 (esp. Maisto and Welly) is they often are underscale (wierd box scales like 1/27th) and have toy like features (esp. the Jada, which often have strange proportions and oversized cartoon wheels and tires).
