  1. Good deal..I'm assuming HLJ and Hobby Search will get them eventually...
  2. Well, if this turns out accurate and of high quality, I'll definitely get one...I like building replica stock pickups.
  3. I guess they make the spots narrower to encourage people to drive smaller cars. I've noticed the trend in newer parking lots...and the cars I drive aren't all that large (Grand Cherokee, Cadillac STS and DTS)..
  4. Moebius doesn't make modern pickup truck kits, so there is no point for comparison.
  5. ?? I'm talking about price and # of parts..there is no correlation between price and parts count (and likewise no correlation w/ quality).
  6. Who said there was? Some more expensive kits have fewer parts than other kits of the same scale that are cheaper. Some more expensive kits have more parts. There is a lot of variation, esp. when comparing domestic vs import brand kits. It's a fallacy to assume a higher price means more parts..there are more contributing factors to price than simply parts count.
  7. Those are big rig kits, though. Different genre than a pickup kit..and there is no correlation between price and parts count.
  8. Interesting that the new and old box art shows opening rear doors but this kit has never had opening rear doors AFAIK...
  9. Maybe OSHA standards were more lax in the grainy black-and-white era.
  10. Hmmm...been probably 20 years since I've seen that movie...I don't recall that car..I do recall a '73 Riviera somewhere in the movie. Checking the internet movie car database entry, there were some Lincolns and big Fords in that movie. Though it looks like the jacked-up car may have been a black '73 Fury. http://www.imcdb.org/movie.php?id=72288
  11. Those are sweet builds...love that era of F1 cars...
  12. Looks rather stupid IMO...and what's up w/ the truck in the first pic--no taillights or backup lights? That's got to be illegal..
  13. Old news..there was already a thread here about this before. There are scenarios inside and outside of modeling where the work product is called a 'build' as a noun. Just because it wasn't that way in 1964 doesn't mean it can't be today...language evolves.
  14. I try and watch 'Graveyard Carz'--the Mopars are fantastic, but the moronic 12yr old behavior amongst the people on the show make it pretty dreadful to sit through. About the only 'reality' type car shows I enjoy are Chasing Classic Cars with Wayne Carini and Wheeler Dealers, both are no-nonsense. There is also one on Velocity with a guy in Colorado hunting down cars, can't recall the name. Americarna w/ Ray Evernham is good, and of course I've loved Top Gear (the original) for many years.. Somedays it does feel like it is 200 channels and nothins' on. I do stream shows and movies from Netflix and Amazon, and do enjoy a few regular non-reality shows on BBC America, AMC, CBS, HBO and FX...but the main reason I still have cable to be able to watch live racing and NFL football during the season (though that was difficult this past season--the local CBS channel rarely showed Broncos games).
  15. Got the highs and lows of being a pet parent to furkids. We've lost 4 older dogs to cancer/old age in the last 2 1/2 years, but have added 4 'new' rescues...being doing fostering as well. Terriers are my thing--Westies, Yorkies, Aussies... no matter how my work day has been, coming home to my 4 legged friends is always a treat..
  16. I'm originally from the Midwest--lived off-and-on in Ohio over 20 years, Michigan 3 years, S. Florida 6 years, Colorado 12 years, and now AZ for 6 years. So I've experienced a lot of climates. I think my tolerance for moisture, humidity and cold is better than my tolerance for heat and dust.... About time for something different...I think my next move will probably be to one of the 4 corners (So Cal, Pacific NW, New England, or back to S. Florida (long shot)). I'm a restless soul, and I like San Diego and So Cal, Seattle and Boston (the last two being great cities for my thing--software development)..
  17. Either day works for me, though Saturdays work better...Sunday for me is usually the day to watch motorsports on TV (or football during the season).
  18. It's a different genre of modified car than you are used to, I guess...lots of different genres...some that may seem stranger to some than others..there are '50s style customs w/ chopped tops. Rat/Rust Rods. Lowriders. Donks. Pro Street. Hot Rods. etc... All different styles w/ different fans. The purpose of each style really isn't something that has a clear 'why'...
  19. Basically most all of June-September are above 100. Hot, dusty, unrelentingly disgusting and vile. The occasional monsoon storm to stir things up. The sky is usually silver w/ the sun and haze. May (warm up) and October (cool down) are 90s-100 or so. Nov-Apr are nice w/ blue skies and cooler temps. Not sure which is worse, 5 months of AZ summer or 5 months of a Midwestern winter..having lived in Ohio and Michigan I kind of miss the greenery that comes from having a more moist climate.
  20. Yep, it's a dry heat. As weird as it sounds, I went to Miami a few years ago in July. Coming back to Phoenix, 115 and low humidity felt better than upper 90s with humidity in the 95% range... though having lived in both Florida and Arizona, both places have their charms..
  21. The sameness does get boring..today was overcast, though, nice change. The cool winter weather is nice--nights down in the 50s, daytime in the 70s-80s. I don't mind Nov-Apr. It's May-Oct that I don't like..too many weeks of triple digit temps.
  22. Not to mention all the people w/ dry-rotted tires and windshield wiper blades....rain leads to mayhem on the roads here.
  23. Anyone make anything like that in scale?
  24. Nice clean build..I plan to do one of mine as an Ohio Highway Patrol car..
  25. Probably to get around licensing..the Opel Admiral kits don't seem to say Opel on the box either..
