  1. Neat...speaking of Tonka Ts, stashed away somewhere, I have 3 from my childhood..about 1:16th scale maybe...a roadster, delivery van, and 3rd bodystyle...made in the mid '70s.
  2. Looks like an interesting subject..too bad about the odd scale.
  3. I had a 'Hulk angry, Hulk smash' moment once when I embedded an exacto knife deep in my thumb while working on a Revell '59 Ford...
  4. My first car was an '86 Mustang LX 2.3. Don't miss it. My second car (which was my first new car), was an '87 Mustang GT..still have it.
  5. Looking good..that's a nice kit, Revell did a good job on those late '90s Ford trucks.
  6. The HID headlights are an option package..not specific to the GT. They had them in '10 as an option also.
  7. Well, there are two different headlight types available...the ones with the turn signals outboard are the optional bi-xenons, IIRC.
  8. Yes..that's the big piece needed....I hope Revell tools up an '11-12 GT or Boss 302 eventually, but at their release pace it probably won't be for a couple years..
  9. Interesting..the box looks like an old Jo-Han box as far as the shape..
  10. I'm surprised Round2 didn't reissue it last year when the movie was out..
  11. Neat promo..I don't have a '65 Merc promo, but have a builtup kit from that year that I want to restore..
  12. I like the Fujimi Enthusiast Series kits I have. Also like the 1:20th Tamiya F1 kits. Haven't gotten into the 1:12th yet, probably will eventually.
  13. Sounds like maybe an AMT coaster (i.e. motorized promo) of a '65 Mercury Park Lane (Meteor Montcalm was a Canadian equivalent).
  14. Makes sense..the '86+ V8 has the air box on the right side, was like that through '93 IIRC. My brother's '79 IPC and '82 GT are both 302s, not sure where the battery is on them.
  15. Nice...is that the stock roof height, or is there is a slight chop to the top?
  16. Speaking of battery placement, my '87 GT has the battery on the left. I can't recall where the battery on my '86 LX 2.3 was (it's been gone for 17 years). I seem to recall some issue w/ one or more of the MPC or Monogram kits wrt to battery placement (at least for the rivet counters).
  17. I wonder if the front and rear fascias will be separate like the glue kit is...that would facilitate building a Shelby convertible pretty easily...
  18. I wonder how many of those T-Birds are still on the road in Europe. I recall a couple of the more unsusal car sightings I saw in the UK on one trip back in 2001 was a stock '95-97 Town Car and a stock '91-93 Mustang GT, the Town Car in a parking lot in Dover and the Mustang in London (Bloomsbury), both w/ UK number plates and LHD. Strangest sight in Europe may have been the stock '80s vintage Ford F250 pickup I saw in Florence, Italy in '04.
  19. Ford sold the Lincoln Mk VII with the BMW Turbodiesel in the US briefly. Again, though, were those Thunderbirds in Germany sold through Ford dealers there or gray market imports?
  20. I remember seeing Chrysler Neons, Voyagers, etc in the UK, France and Italy when over there on vacation...but those were official models sold through Chrysler dealers, like the Grand Cherokees, Cherokees, Wranglers sold there..
  21. Who knows exactly what went on then---50 years ago! I do have a few kits in my stash w/ SMP boxes, '59s and '60s IIRC. I recall reading something about SMP in SAE or MCM years ago that SMP didn't actually make kits--they just marketed AMT product under their brand.
  22. The Thunderbird of that era wasn't officially sold in Europe at all, was it? I assume this was an import through a dealer or something? It was probably modified by a US dealer before shipping abroad. I've seen ads in Car, Top Gear and other UK car magazines for brokers in Europe that import new Ram pickups, Mustangs, Camaros, and other vehicles not officially sold in those markets...
  23. Looking forward to the Gremlin and van...more '70s subjects are good thing, IMO. Those jackets look cool..one would be nice to go w/ my Gulf and Indy Motor Speedway racing jackets.
  24. Here's a pic of my '87 GT....had it since new...in Florida, Ohio, Michigan, Colorado and back to Ohio. 63k miles, kept it stock.
  25. Cool...I can't recall the last time I saw one of those. I have the original brochures somewhere in my stash. There have been a lot of Fox Mustangs in my family over the years.... I've had an '86 LX (2.3) notchback and an '87 GT...my brother has a '79 Indy Pace Car, '82 GT, and an '85 GT. My Mom had a '79 hatchback, '86 GT, and a '90 LX 5.0.
